Looks pretty accurate to me! For Bulge we are currently planning:
Module 1 = Commonwealth
Module 2 = Spring 1945
Module 3 = Misc. stuff
As for the content of Module 3 it's similar to the way we're planning Module 3 for CM:BN... we're keeping it flexible until we get to it. For the Bulge's Module 3 I could see things like Volkssturm, E-100, Pershing, IR Panthers, etc.
Steve
Wait Bulge is a separate game? I thought it was a module for CMBN.

Haha... old grogs busting out the ol' psychedelic drug stuff from the past. Fun to see .

I've got an Dell XPS 410 Phil, upgraded with a slightly better power supply and a 4650 (1 gig version). My vram is set to 4092 (max and min both). I normally play at medium textures with pretty much all settings at medium (or "balanced") as well... and have anti-aliasing turned off completely. Resolution at 1280x1024. Here's the dxdiag file for my computer:

And Mikey, where was I complaining? You're like the yes man on here dude. Seriously. It gets irritating. And besides, I'm a customer and have bought a lot of BFC products and am definitely buying CMBN so I think I'm entitled to at least SUGGEST things and ask about others. If they don't like it they can ban me.
All I've been asking is what I need to upgrade to be lag free. I mean, will it run fine if I get some $2500 Alienware computer? (not that I ever would, way cheaper to build your own)
-
Total War is not more technically demanding than Combat Mission. I'd say the two are roughly on par in terms of resources used, and certainly CM has more "brains" in terms of AI and pathfinding. I've seen the databases used to drive the AI and pathing in Total War and they are simplistic in the extreme. Units act as large single-minded entities. The total number of elements making choices and reacting to things is orders of magnitude smaller than CM and their reactions and plans are similarly simplified. I think it's safe to say that having each soldier thinking for themselves and making tiny decisions is the OPPOSITE of what they want to do, because they have no interest in simulating combat at CM's scale.
There are also an incredible number of tricks used by TW to get "LOADS of dudes on screen" at runtime and very few of them would be useful in a game like Combat Mission.
On top of that... TW has had hundreds of programmer-years thrown at it, tens of millions of dollars, and a number of from-scratch rewrites to keep up with the latest technology and scrap stuff that wasn't working well. That's a whole lot of "totally impossible for anyone that doesn't have SEGA backing it up" in my opinion, and it's essential to how their engine performs so well - and, as you'll note from a quick glance at their forums, not everyone agrees on that last bit.
Great point, TW's AI certainly sucks, both the strategic level and battle level AI .
Still... games like... say for example Panzer Command: Kharkov runs better than CMSF NATO, despite being as far as I can tell either close to, or more complex in terms of its AI routines etc. than CM (it has VERY good AI). It's also a lot prettier again. (not that I care about graphics, but just pointing out that as it's an additional strain).
I just wanna know what the hell I need to upgrade to not lag in large battles, or battles with a ton of buildings and such.
-
Really odd that I'm lagging in it then when I can play any game up till now at least DECENTLY (i.e. 25FPS and above) and most at a comfortable ~40.
-
Well for the Ostfront game they should include a 91/30 and charge an extra $100 for it. They're dirt cheap, you can get them on the net for as little as ~$80.
And final that's really cool. I'd love to have a piece of the Berlin wall in my room.
-
Seems like an appropriate time to bump this. BE SURE TO ADD EVERYONE IN THERE TO YOUR FRIENDS LIST. You can't message them otherwise and would have to use the group chat. (annoying)
-
Why do I need a box to hold 4 CDs if the game only uses 1 cd? I'm confused.
You guys should include small containers of sand from Omaha beach and a piece of rock from a bunker in there. I'd pay $100 for that. Cheaper than a plane ticket over to France. If the rock has a bullet hole in it, $125.
-
My point is that games that are much more technically demanding (including for instance Total War games, where you often have LOADS of dudes on screen) are running better than CM NATO, just because they take advantage of both cores.
-
I hope it's hard as hell, even NATO which a lot of people found difficult I found far too easy.
But no I meant hardware, thanks for the answer.
It's weird though, often in NATO I lag and start falling into 10-15 FPS (terrible!). Now my computer's not exactly hot stuff but I run Mass Effect 2 completely fine at pretty high settings and that game has higher requirements and is a lot "prettier", but then again, it takes advantage of both my CPUs.
What should I upgrade to not have this issue with CMBN since it doesn't recognize multi cores? Will upping my Ram do it? (got 2 gigs)
-
See thread title .
-
Nice surprise to see release date so soon from now.
So am I correct in understanding that "special edition" is just hard copy basically of manual and cds?
NATO's great but I gotta be honest this looks leagues better. No more hand of god weapons! YES! Infantry must FEAR armor again instead of the reverse.
-
Glad I'm on the east coast right now. Was watching the footage, looked like the end of the world.
-
Great story and props to whoever the guy was, he should hit me up too please cause I can't afford even the standard version hehe .
But no, the nicest internet community BY FAR is http://forum.grasscity.com/. Should be obvious why . I've yet to see a flame war there and I've been over there for over a year and a half. People are too busy just chillin and sharing music and funny stories with each other.
-
Yes it's good because I get to stay in communication with my friends in Egypt, France, Morocco, Belgium, Spain, NYC, California, and Virginia. I mean, damn, I'm still talking to a kid I was in 1st grade with.
And I mean actual friends, i.e. people I've known for 5+ years. (went to an international middle+HS)
Now, instead of having to email them, I just post on there and half of them have it on their phones and we're talking over skype within minutes.
Twitter though seems pretty retarded. Useful for political talking heads, megalomaniacs, and celebrities I guess though.
Anyways, anyone here over 30 won't really get it (though I'm actually still in touch with 2 of my favorite HS teachers). Just how your parents thought Led Zeppelin was the devil's music XD. Nothing changes.
-
Well she's not out of your league since you clearly had balls and she fell for you .
Girls don't care about looks. The only thing looks give you is a 10 second advantage or so over an ugly guy if you're both hitting on a girl at the same time. But if the ugly guy proves to have balls and the good looking guy doesn't... ugly guy will win every time. I've seen this countless times in the hundreds of nights I've gone clubbing.

I am pretty slick with the ladies. Ever since dropping some *cid last autumn I found near-infinite confidence and insight into the female mindset. You know what it's like to read Cosmopolitan and articles on psychology while *ripping? It took that to fully understand the fundamental differences in how the two sexes perceive this world and act accordingly. It's not really about what you say to a girl (she won't remember specifics, that is how males think, that is why males are perceivedly the romantic-sender gender and females the recipient. She will remember how you made her feel.), but how, why and at what point during the encounter you say it. The trick is to be utmostly relaxed so you can think on your feet, good breathing technique is essential to maintain your cool. Learn the basics of body language and it becomes, by time easy to tell if you should proceed or not. Just remember the first 3 second reaction will almost always be positive unless she finds you blatantly disgusting, after that you can start to tell apart true sexual interest. Speak softly. Remember when you walk and posture that the shoulders and hips define your stance, focus on those. Smile naturally so it tenses the muscles around your cheek bones. This highlights them and tightens the jawline, creating a very attractive facial feature. Women love men who use their face. It radiates confidence. Use that smile, think of yourself as an actor, make faces. Listen intently to her story. This cannot be highlighted enough! And always remember to be hard to get. The more ladies around you, the more will come.
100% rate of pick-up success in roughly 5 months, then I stopped because I found a really nice girl.
Can't tell if you're joking or not but I have heard of people getting out of depression and/or having their personality completely flipped in a good way from an acid or shroom trip.
But really, all it comes down to with chicks is a dude's confidence. If he has balls she can tell. If he's insecure, she can tell, usually within seconds. Once in a club in San Francisco I was feeling really "in the zone" and just walked up to a genuine 9 and without a word just kissed her. She slapped me hard across the face but I could tell it was game over cause she was kinda laughing when she did it so I just kissed her again, this time she followed suit and we went upstairs and madeout for about 2 hours on the couch, before going back to her place . I didn't "close the deal" cause I'm an evangelical christian but the girl was basically throwing herself at me when we got back to her house. She literally said "can't you just touch my tits at least?" I kid you not. This girl was no slut either.
Also, some dudes one of my friends with insane game rolled with a lot would regularly walk up to girls and say "I want to be part of your next abortion" with a completely straight face. Half the girls would freak out. The other half would be all over them in seconds. And these aren't ugly chicks they were going for either. This was in LA which is absolutely LOADED with incredibly beautiful women.
It really doesn't matter what you say. Next time I see a girl I like I'm gonna just start talking about my experiences in IL-2: Sturmovik and why I prefer the 190 to the 109, except for the K4-C3 which I find a lot of fun to fly.
All chicks pay attention to is your eyes really. You give her the "laser eyes" and you can talk about global warming and she'll be digging you. Thing is you can't "fake" your body language.
Of course, if you have any insecurity or are intimidated at all by her you'll instantly be creepy if you're staring her down. If you're NOT you're an instant stud in her eyes. This has all been thoroughly tested while I was going out with a friend and probably hit on 3000+ girls in the course of 10 months in California. (no exaggeration... what can I say, I came from SC I kinda went crazy when I saw the talent over on the west coast )
So confidence + not giving a crap = win. If you start "thinking" you're toast hahaha.
-
How is this thread even up? I thought there was a strict "no politics" rule.
-
Good point Affentitten.
Oh and about the proxy empire... I guess you're unaware that we've funded various coups and have had brutal right wing dictators installed across the globe through that wonderful organization known as the CIA? Read some history dude. Not to mention the innumerable military bases we have all over the planet. Like I said. Proxy.
I guess this quote from Lyndon B. Johnson best sums it up:
Fuck your parliament and your constitution. America is an elephant. Cyprus is a flea. Greece is a flea. If these two fleas continue itching the elephant, they may just get whacked good ...We pay a lot of good American dollars to the Greeks, Mr. Ambassador. If your Prime Minister gives me talk about democracy, parliament and constitution, he, his parliament and his constitution may not last long...Shortly thereafter the democratic government was overthrown by hard right wing military leaders and before ya know it Greece had themselves a lovely little military junta in charge. All with the support of the CIA of course. They probably couldn't have pulled it off without our support. Look this stuff up if you don't believe me. It gets nastier the closer you look.
This BS about us being all about "freedom" now is a joke. I'm sure the Egyptians are laughing their collective arses off when Obama and Hillary talk about "approving" of their revolution while they're picking up tear gas canisters with "Made in the USA" written on them.
When I heard the words "Operation Iraqi Freedom" I didn't know whether to laugh or gag. Just a few decades earlier we were giving billions to Saddam to fight Iran. And earlier of course as everyone knows, we were training and funding Bin Laden and co. to fight the Ruskies. Funny how that kind of stuff tends to bite you in the ass? Blowback I believe it's called. Oh and need I mention how much money we gave Mubarak just to keep the area stable? We didn't give a **** about the Egyptian people's "freedom".
The single best move for our country right now would be to pull all our military forces out of Saudi Arabia immediately. This is the #1 reason there is so much hate towards America... it's their holy land and infidels are trampling on it. It's not understandable to the western mind... but that's really what's pissing them off; I know first hand having lived in a Muslim country. Along with of course our ridiculous financial support of Israel despite that country's constant refusal to show any leeway whatsoever with the Palestinians. I'd rather see that money go towards somewhere like Haiti then towards building more Merkavas.
But hey, that's just me, and I'm a naive, peace loving, wanna-be-hippie.
Anyways, I'm done ranting. You can have the last word as O'Reilly would put it .
-
Probably I would suggest actually using your own mind, which I guarantee is smarter than the polls, and doing your own thinking my friend. Get your own facts rather than those spoon fed to the masses, and I guarantee you would change your mind.
Oh, and while I think Obama was born in the USA, I also am annoyed that he refuses to prove it, while before the election, a true American hero such as his opponent, had to prove his eligibility to close scrutiny due to being born on an American base.
It rankles me that Obama allows the stupid question of his eligibility to even continue when it SHOULD be easy to prove. Instead he offers up a short form birth certificate which is not even enough of an ID to get a passport issued by the government he himself is head of.
But he is also my Commander in Chief, so I refuse to believe he is ineligible...just wish he would shut up the debate, prove it,not too much to ask, and let us deal with more important things.
Obama has instead put millions$ to work on law teams to fight in courts, etc, to refuse to prove the issue.
And what "proxy empire" do you think America has?
This is quickly deteriorating into a flame war but I just gotta say I freaking hate it when someone (on either "side") accuses someone else of being "spoonfed". I'm not "spoonfed". I've lived in France for 6 years and experienced their socialized medicine, I've been in Morocco for 6 years and experienced being under a more or less benevolent Muslim autocratic regime, and when it comes to the US I've lived in San Francisco and now the deep south in probably the most conservative city in one of the most conservative states... Aiken, SC. Where are you getting info? From some secret communiqué that no one else knows about? I also like to do this thing called reading. It's very helpful.
Half the clowns complaining about "socialism" in these rallies can't even define what it is except that it's "like communism".
Maybe we should just close all public schools, dissolve the military, and eliminate the postal service, because those are all socialist things too. I don't want my tax dollars going to pay for some dumb little kid's education and I certainly don't want it going towards paying for people to deliver OTHER people's mail. And if I want an M16 I'll buy one myself, I don't want my money going towards buying other people M16s. Bunch of freeloaders all of them.
And while we're on it, we should definitely dissolve the FBI and DEA and actually all fire and police departments because I don't want my money going towards people spying on me, or solving OTHER people's murders. Let their families solve them. Let their families rescue them out of fires. It's my money, the government can KEEP THEIR HANDS OFF IT.
Then, finally, we will come out of this socialist nightmare and into a new glorious Utopian age of everyone for himself. It'll be just like the glory days of 3500B.C., where everyone paid for their own health insurance and for their own swords, and if you were dumb enough to light your house on fire, you died.
You are quite right though that my mind is a good bit smarter than any poll or news organization .
BTW listen to NPR > Fox/CNN/MSNBC
Oh and polls are based on facts in this case from a more or less neutral organization. It's just a shame that "facts have a well known liberal bias" to quote the great Stephen Colbert
I'm not some huge fan of Obama, he said in 2004 that he wanted to decriminalize cannabis and now we haven't heard a peep about it. All he did was tell the DEA to stop raiding MMJ stores in states where it's legalized for medical use. The DEA just ignores it anyways and Obama doesn't lift a finger cause he's too scared that he'll lose the moderates and risk the 2012 election. He also is not planning on letting the measures in the so-called "Patriot" Act expire either, which is a major major major negative for me. Habeus corpus is a joke while that piece of sh--legislation is still around.
Anyways with the Tea Party splitting the GOP and scaring moderates I'm pretty sure the 2012 election will be handed on a silver platter to Obama, so brace yourself for another 4 years with the Kenyan Muslim. Unless of course they nominate Ron, because a LOT of democrats would vote for him over Obama.
I'd vote for Ron Paul over Obama any day of the week if the GOP nominated him (they won't of course)... sure he's against socialized medicine but his positives outweigh his negatives by far in my book, not to mention he's probably one of the only politicians I've seen who actually sticks to his beliefs. I'm more of a libertarian than a leftist, and as far as I'm concerned the neo-conservative right wing can go screw itself.
-
Whatever dude, I just look at the gallup polls. The Tea Party is full of ignoramuses.
I've seen videos made by tea partiers themselves of the rallies and it's pretty much just as bad with the slogans and signs and the racial distribution.
We could end the debt problem RIGHT NOW if we just let go of our little proxy "empire". Why the hell do we have to be a superpower? I mean seriously? Does it benefit us in any way? Non-superpower countries like Sweden, Switzerland, etc. have much higher rates of employment and far better education systems and college graduation rates.
I've been to Switzerland a few times. Apart from being an absolutely beautiful country, there's virtually no poverty there. I mean seriously. I didn't see a SINGLE "bum" the entire time. The "poor" are lower middle class.
-
Ya I wouldn't mind a bloodless revolution here in the States. Congress is in the pockets of Big Oil, Big Pharma and all the special interest groups so much it's absurd.
So much BS and flip flopping from the politicians too.
I heard somewhere about either a country or a state implementing a system where you had "two" votes... first you write/check the box of the candidate you REALLY want (i.e. someone who might not be given a chance to even get an interview on the news but lines up with your views really well) and then your "backup" (one of the main two contestants... it'd give parties like the Libertarian and Green parties a chance).
If we could just get that going and overtturn the unlimited amount of money corporations can give a candidate that the Supreme Court decided a while ago we'd be way ahead already.
But diesel, the teaparty is utterly retarded. It's all angry old white people. They complain about spending but where were they when we were wasting billions in Iraq for no good reason after it was clear that there were no WMDs? (invading a country isn't the way to take care of that anyways... Israel's proved that a few times) The Teaparty was originally straight libertarians amongst them many democrats and was led by Ron Paul who wants us to pull basically ALL our military forces out (including in Germany etc.) and back home and end the drug war amongst other things. The nutty part of the right wing hijacked it and pretty much ousted Ron since he was against the war.
Just watch this:
Obviously it's edited and yes it's made by a left winger but notice he never really asks leading questions. They damn themselves. And I know that there are some intelligent and reasonable tea partiers but you look at some polls and something like 30% of the Republican party still think Obama isn't an American citizen . With the tea party it's way worse. I mean they had a candidate who had an anti-masturbation campaign going on, no joke. They're nuts. You ask these people to name any other amendment to the constitution other than #2 and they're stumped. They constantly are ranting about how the USA was founded on "Christian ideals" and stuff... they're completely ignorant of the fact that most of the founding fathers were either deists, masons, or both. They also dress themselves up in the American flag which is hilarious as they're saying they're patriots but "wearing" the flag is officially a desecration of it.
Anyways, if they really gave a crap about the debt and govt. spending they'd all be for getting us out of our two new Vietnams and cutting the defense budget in half. Even if we cut it in half, we'd still be spending more than 3 times what China is. (the #2 defense spender)
You don't need an F22 to kill a couple guys in a cave with 60 year old weapons.
I think the debt is a huge problem too but I also believe in universal healthcare, and not the crappy version we have now, something like the French version (lived there for 6 years and it works great). We just need to slash the defense budget, end the drug war (the amount of $$$ we spend on prisons and prisoners is staggering, and many of them are arrested for non-violent cannabis related crimes), abolish the DEA completely, and we're set. Honestly I'm in favor of legalizing EVERYTHING. I don't think a bunch of people are gonna start shooting up heroin if it gets legalized... I'm not saying it should be in convenience stores, but the amount of time and money LE spend chasing drug dealers and drug users is ridiculous. Not to mention it just props up organized crime. People are gonna use drugs regardless of whether or not they're legal. I say we stop funding the drug cartels and the endless killing on the Mexican border. It's interesting too because Cannabis use actually went DOWN when it got legalized in Amsterdam, probably because it lost that "forbidden fruit" coolness factor.
It's identical to prohibition. You never heard of Al Capone and co. much after Roosevelt repealed prohibition it did you?
-
I've never seen this issue stopping a triple-A game selling bajillions.
Ba-zing!
Hey "mindless" shooters like Tribes 2 are some of my favorite games (actually very challenging... the people at the top are ridiculous). Just cause it's not a military sim doesn't mean it sucks.
Of course if you're talking about Call of Duty that's a different story .
-
What you mean like a metagame? (so each battle represents a territory or something)
That was tried with "Operation Nemesis" and it fell through but with a brand new game AND WW2 I'm sure it could be pulled off. I'd offer to start it up but I don't any html skillz and no $$$ for a website.

But I thought they said Commonwealth was next and that's a module for CMBN right? I'm confused... anyone know what the modules planned for CMBN are?
