  1. I think the weather works differently from the way I thought... It appears that if something is a weather zone, that is the same for the whole map with that zone, as opposed to being more generic and randomized over various areas. Is that correct? That means I will have to change my system some and divide up some of the weather areas more. I have one desert terrain which means the whole world's deserts have the same weather all the time this way!
  2. You get decision scripts and more variables + other upgrades - if you want extra games to play or to play some of the newest mods it would be worth it. If you are happy with WAW for now then just stay with that until you are ready.

  4. Go to research and then "advanced" and you can go to each country and determine if it is allowed to and if so what the cost is - up to 200%
  5. I suspected you needed to script overseas, but it does not buy or research on its own? Also, if I run ai vs ai - how do I replay that? What do I set for ai vs ai is there a switch scripted somewhere?
  6. Do any veteran designers have some ideas on how necessary and important the various script types are? I looked at say the scripts for the 1939 scenarios like Storm of Steel and they are quite a lot. I may simply copy and adapt some of them. However, how necessary are they? What kind of behavior does the AI have without them? Any suggestions on which are most critical vs. which are less so? Thanks - any help would be appreciated.
  7. I am still not sure about the garrison/fleet issue - I added scripts for garrisons. The land ones seem to work exactly right. However, when I added ports to be garrisoned it seems that sometimes the AI moves ships away anyhow - is that because ports should NOT be in garrison scripts or because sometimes it overrides that for other reasons?
  8. In my campaign I am having just the russians having some artillery units because of their heavy "artillery breakthrough divisions" they had later in the war. I was also thinking maybe to give the germans one for their big rail guns - maybe mod the icon to look like one too. Have not decided to do that yet though.
  9. Since I will need the patch fix to get my campaign to work - any idea on when it will be ready? The issue was that if I set a minor at 100% active and the parent joins, any territory the minor had lost gets regained and a "switches sides" event takes place for some reason. Hubert mentioned it was a bug that would be fixed in the next patch. I don't mean to sound impatient, just want to have an idea of timeframe
  10. Agree strategically there should be no artillery or at units for the most part - but those are really for the more operational scenarios. However 3 tech levels is about as high as infantry should go because really there was little to no advancement in the actual technology of artillery, which was pretty much at its peak.
  11. If I want the AI to "garrison" a port I need to use the fleet script, is that correct? The garrison script is only for ground units? I am starting to write AI scripts for the campaign so it will be ready for beta testing both human and vs. AI. I tested it against the AI and while the turns are longer, a couple minutes, they are not impossibly long considering how large the map is. Finding and fixing script errors now. I also need to go back and finish the terrain and weather for US/Canada and a few other small things. It won't work past US entry anyway until the bug gets fixed.
  12. They don't have any full supply unless they liberate Paris, which is why I set my game up the way I did. The axis minors all have one set of shared graphics.
  13. well I think I will find human players for my campaign when it is done - I hope - I invite anyone, need to playtest - not quite ready for beta test yet.
  14. South America is neutral because let's face it they did almost nothing in war, and I needed all the other nations for various reasons. I want to be sure there are Japanese convoys that can be attacked, for instance.
  15. I had not fixed the graphics yet so I was aware of that. I didn't finish it yet. I did just fix the graphics though since I uploaded it. The reason, as I said in other thread, that I made Italy a minor is that the allies need to be able to re-capture Paris and get a capital city. Also, if it is a minor, they won't be connected to London and get half value. Much better to have Italy as a minor. Downside is research, but the price increase for upgrades helps keep that in check.
  16. because if France is not a major power the allies can never capture a capital city on the continent, making it very hard for them to get full supply. Since Italy is connected to Berlin, it was less of an issue to make them a minor, and I changed the graphics so that the axis minor use the Italian units. My upload does not have all the graphics fixes I made - I pretty much have those done now.

  18. as soon as I can log onto CMMODS I am uploading my alpha build. Still needs a lot of work but the majority is done and you can see what it looks like.
  19. The scripts themselves are also pretty descriptive, they have instructions at the top on how they work. It takes some practice and testing though. If you have specific questions maybe we can help.

  22. Siberia's parent is USSR and its units are 100% upgradeable at no extra cost. Unit scripts give them some extras depending on results of the pact, which also affects siberian transfer
  23. I used Siberia as a country. Japan can choose war but otherwise it is neutral. I also have the neutrality pact as a decision event. If they say no, Siberia activation goes up a lot - not quite high enough for war but close and could be diplo'd easily - I also lowered diplo cost to 100/50 and increased amounts it affects, so it is a good strategy to spend money on. When germany surrenders, it is pretty much guaranteed to activate, simulating the war vs. manchuria in 45
