  1. I understand their reasoning for not modeling paratroopers. If they did, what possible chance would the enemy have?
  2. Can I ask why all these dog-faced soldiers are sporting 2nd ID RSSI? Not a criticism in the slightest, just a question is all.
  3. You won't find anything on 75th Rangers, the formation wasn't created until after WW2... *edit* Though, yeah, 1st,2nd, and 3rd Battalion obviously were involved, 75th wasn't the parent unit. What do you want on them? I'll try to dig something up. [ April 08, 2008, 08:35 PM: Message edited by: Clavicula_Nox ]
  4. Sounds like an idea for another module ...... CM:SF Special Ops ???? </font>
  5. I miscalculated my battles, I still have one more day and night battle. I think I'm going to crack open the editor and give the Axis more reinforcements as well as reduce the re-draw. I haven't spent any time looking into it, but does anyone know off-hand a general guide for how many german troops were deployed to take the bridge and when? As for my VC bazooka team, they are still racking up kills, and it will be interesting to see where they stop. The next couple of battles will be tense as I'm pretty low on ammunition and the majority of their infantry is low on men but high on ammo. Maybe somebody could tell Carrington to hit the accelerator and get his column moving, eh? Yeah, if I recall, it was Bittrich's entire division as well as miscellaneous forces. As an American, I have a lot of respect for the 1st Paras for the stand they made on Arnhem bridge. It certainly says a lot about their national character. Here is another question. I have read that the Gammon grenades were very useful in destroying armor targets, but have not noticed a single vehicle kill with these grenades in game. Are the articles I'm reading inaccurate, or is the game inaccurate? So far, I've only seen them thrown at halftracks and light armored cars.
  6. I don't think there is a way to change: A. Models B. TO&E C. Unit Attributes
  7. Dude, I was drinking when I read that and now I have to clean my monitor. Thanks! ahahaha
  8. That sucks. At any rate, It's Battle 6, Day 3 and Lt Col Frost's battalion has stopped cold every single attack. I haven't deployed yet and am taking a break, but they tried rushing across the bridge with all their halftracks + 2 light armored vehicles. Fortunately, I was prepared, and had several PIAT teams, engineer squads, and Gammon bomb equipped paras waiting in ambush. In just 3 turns, all of their vehicles were destroyed with the exception of one that "only" lost it's gunner which forced the driver to make a hasty retreat. What looks like a platoon of regular Wehrmacht, the shattered remains of 1 or 2 platoons of Waffen SS, and a squad or two of "Security" tried following behind the halftracks. To their dismay, 2 platoons of Paras, 2 mortars, and 1 Vickers MG cut them to ribbons. With the opening of Day 3, Arnhem is secure and they no longer have any foothold on the bridge (in the previous battle, they had their surviving halftrack deploy to the side of the bridge). I would go ahead and call Market Garden a success. Now where is General Horrocks and XXX Corps? I would say that if the Operation lasted another Day or 2 with no further reinforcements or re-supply on my part, and they received a company, then I would probably fold on the second day due to lack of ammunition. On another note, is it normal to have a single PIAT team armed with 6 shells score 6 kills, 4 halftracks, 1 random light armor vehicle, and 1 MG bunker? Would that team justify some form of award? If so, what? I literally haven't played this game in years, and despite having CM:SF and CMBB, this has always been my favorite..and now I remember why.
  9. Sgt Airborne:"Hey! Pvt Snufy, stop shooting at me!" Pvt Snuffy: "Don't listen, it's a trap!" etc.
  10. That's really lame, especially since the only thing Strykers look like (that I have ever seen) are those Marine LAVs. You would think there would be some form of communication...or maybe a system whereupon we can issue Article-15's...
  11. Good use of the 172nd SBCT patch, too bad they don't exist anymore!
  12. Not sure if this is the right forum, and sorry for the n00b question. I'm currently playing the Arnhem-Red Devils operation and have a question about the way deployment zones are setup. I have fought a day battle and night battle with very few causalties, less than 30 total and only 13 KIA, as opposed to my AI axis opponent with 160+ KIA/WIA and several vehicles knocked out. I have around 2 companies in the buildings straddling the Arnhem side of the bridge and they have not moved except for designated teams assigned to tank killing duty. I also have a platoon or so of engineers on my left flank that obliterated some random armor vehicle and a platoon of infantry. The men of Col Frost's battalion have basically swept arnhem clean and at the end of the first night, have stopped all attacks cold. Why then, does Day 2 Battle 3 open up and most of the battalion is at the edge of the map? The only teams close to their original positions are 2 mortar teams that are, luckily, to the rear of those cruical buildings and have, thankfully, generated a small deployment zone around them. This gives me the impression of a force that is being pushed back and making a fighting retreat, when no such thing is happening. As it is, I have to run most of these guys to the positions they were occupying perhaps only a few hours before. Now I can understand if I was taking moderate or heavy casualities, or if they suddenly had halftracks and panzergrenadiers knocking on my door...but they don't. They have roughly 8 halftracks taking turns trying to run across the bridge and get whacked from behind, and maybe around a company worth of panzergrenadiers and "Security squads" left over from their suicidal lemming rush across the bridge. Unless they get some reinforcements in the way of armored vehicles bigger than Pumas..then it looks like Market-Garden is going to succede (Someone tell Gen Horrock to go ahead and let his tanks roll out). So, my question is this: Why is the simulated push-back so dramatic that my forces are literally forced to the edge of town from positions they have solidly held for 2 battles? Is there something I could be doing better to prevent this, or is it unavoidable?
  13. To compare, I have dual GEFORCE 6800 GPUs and they work fine, but it's almost time to upgrade.
  14. I think you just have your squad/team near the casualty and someone automatically plays medic/combat lifesaver.

  17. Yeah... You know you've hit rock bottom when you fantasize about seeing a water buffalo roll over from the horizon.
  18. Yeah, you're camelbak has 2-3 QTs, and if you're carrying canteens, those are 1 QT, 2 if you have the abtly named 2QT canteen. Doesn't last long.
  19. I'm pretty sure textures are the only things that can be changed right now...
  20. Not very. I can't say anything about regular army, but we have some detachments/teams/whatever that have been issued the conversion kit, mine is not one of them. *edit* Looks neat, 3rd ID patch is too small, though. Reminds me of addons I would make for Armed Assault.
  21. Oh jeez..all the 11th ACR love in here. Here is a picture of me in front of the 155th Brigade Combat Team mural, a good portion of the Brigade was the 2/11th..and I have never seen another combat arms unit that was so screwed up. Maybe it was all their years at NTC? Yeah, I don't think war with Iran is necessary, or even best. I think there are much better ways of handling them, and the best is probably what you say about giving them a role in the World Economy. 22. We should realise the truth, America is evil, and just start wearing Che Guevera T-Shirts.
  23. You know, almost the same thing happened to me. We had cleared a building in-use by bad guys and one of my soldiers had a file cabinet that was trapped. We were fairly pressed for time sensitivity, I told my soldiers to get out of the room while I attempted to disarm it. Being a graduate of Sapper, I figured "hey, Sapper is close to EOD, I've got this." I figured wrong but was fortunate in that file cabinets do not make good booby traps and only received perforations to my right shoulder, hand, and forearm. You know, I still haven't lived that down, either. Others sometimes will joke around, "Hey, if you ever run into any traps, Sgt _______ can take care of it for you." etc. Being stupid, but we didn't have 6-8 hours to wait for an EOD team, you know? I'm glad you're okay and I'm very sorry that others aren't. It hurts me inside everytime I pick up Paraglide and see "Paratrooper killed in Iraq/Afghanistan" or everytime I open an Army Times. Army Times was how I found out a friend from highschool had been killed, Spc David Rice..a ****in newspaper and he died while I was deployed, no more than 100 miles away. It upset me terribly. I haven't lost a trooper yet, and I hope I never have to bear that burden, I would rather that if it had to be someone that it be me. I simply can't imagine how difficult it is and on so many levels. truly the worst job in the Army.
  24. 3rd ACR isn't bad, there was an element from them that I am unsure of it's size apart of our BCT. They have a good reputation amongst some soldiers I know who were alongside them. *edit* I mean they're not bad for legs, of course. [ March 25, 2008, 06:45 PM: Message edited by: Clavicula_Nox ]
