  1. am i missing something though? maybe I need a duh too, but in Stoex's pic; there is a solid interveaning wall without a door, so they shouldn't be able to go through should they? Yes the entered builidng has an open wall, which is treated as a wall with a door; but the exiting building has a solid wall and no door doesn't it? So they shouldn't be able to pass? Ah...walls shmallss
  2. yes I'd be interested to know if this is a regular occurence, bailing after a puncture am keeping a look out here too
  3. totally puzzling does sound symptomatic of some sort of memory leak though
  4. ...start throwing stuff seems this guy was trying to throw a grenade but the animation swapped it out for his rpg at the last minute
  5. c3k, just out of interest, how much memory has your card got?
  6. Aye birdstrike, I'm thinking I've had crews re-enter abandoned vehicles before too, was very useful to be able to. I'm wondering of the 1.11 patch didn't change that maybe? Seems odd not to allow re-entry and acquiring even, just for a busted wheel
  7. darn, well scratch that idea then OK, just noticed that you and chops are both running 256Mb cards. I wonder if others experienceing the same are running the same? Could be a GPU memory thing?
  8. Just a wonder; what's running in the background while this is going on as far as other PC tasks? Might be worth going through running apps and services and disabling all those unneccessary and ones and seeing if that makes any difference i.e: anti-virus [just while you're in cmsf, and disable net connections too] update software resident programs like spybot etc windows indexer health checkers performance monitors window widgets basically anything that's unneccesary. There's a few websites dedicated to getting rid of all the background stuff and services that aren't really neccessary. so basically, strip your system down temporarily to the bare-bones then try running cmsf and see if that makes any difference. I only say this coz there's a few times when draw distance and camera movement is choppy for me and I think I narrowed it down to having unneccessary tasks running in the background at the same time. I only offer this coz it seems the problems people are having are not limited to one particular graphics card, drivers or system configuration, seems to happen across the board but not with everyone. Thus this would lead me to think it is something to do with system configuration at the time of play rather than a broad-brush GPU or driver issue.
  9. Bumping this coz has happened another couple of times, each time only wheel damage, gets immobilized then abandoned and no-one can enter Wondering if this is a bug or working as intended. If WID am wondering if it's something that could be looked at by BF. Cheers
  10. Bogus indeed. Both objectives held 4 kia and 21 wia; OPFOR has 121 KIA and 49 WIA. 113 of my chaps accounted for all OK, OPFOR has 3. And still a total defeat what gives?
  11. Just checked back through the savegames and the only damage it sustained was a grenade hit to the wheels which then gave it the "Immobilized" status; "Wheels" was the only recorded damage.A few seconds later the crew bailed and the vehicle then became "Abandoned" and henceforth unusable.
  12. Aye Mark, I wasn't querying that it should've been abandoned in the first place [though IMHO bailing from a nice armoured Stryker into a trench full of spotted OPFOR currently causing the damage doesn't seem like good business sense ] just that no-one could go back in. I would proffer that as long as the ramp is down that anyone should be able to enter an 'abandoned' vehicle to Acquire [and maybe as stoex suggested that randomly some of the stores are stuffed, if the damage sustained would cause that] and any other Stryker crews should be able to enter and either drive if the vehicle is driveable or man the MG/pop smoke etc if that is possible considering sustained damage.
  13. Alpha channels mate - been much discussion about it a while back but rushing so can't search for it at mo - it's here though somewhere. Just make sure they're black and white, not greyscale.
  14. might need to open a port on your modem if it's got an inbuilt firewall/gateway? configure through web-browser usually
  15. Just had a case where Stryker took some hits and the crew bailed and got nailed. Now I've a Stryker sitting empty [with it's ramp open BTW] stacked full of gear that no-one can enter, neither another crew nor troops I've noted some instances where 'abandoned' vehicles have been able to be re-mounted but in this case to no avail. Anyone know what the status is of an 'abandoned' vehicle and how come it can't be entered or acquired from? Cheers
  16. Hmmm, curious..I just delved into this bug a bit more.. Send an AT into a Strker and pick up a javelin and the CLU disappears [EDIT:from being able to be acquired thanks Sergei] Send the rest of the unit in and the CLU comes available again! well, it's in the hands of the BF Gods now PS I just noticed that this didn't happen with a Bradley. V confused now.
  17. Di - how come? I've been playing on Vista for a year almost and everything works fine. What's sucking for you?
  18. I do concur; I've always done it the other way around, taking the CLU first, coz I got bitten by that one time, so never really noticed again. You're correct in that by taking the CLU first the team can carry fully the remainder, yet in taking the 2 javelins first there is no room for the CLU.
  19. Doesn't this depend on how many troops are acquiring? I've noticed that if I send a 2 man team in, Acquire 2 Javelins, they then cannot take the CLU and the 3rd Javelin. I imagine this is coz it's too much to carry perhaps? I tend to take the CLU +1 Javelin first and then see if I can take any more. Always a bugger having to heft those things around with nothing to launch them with
  20. yakstock - the graphical waypoint always snaps to the underlying invisible action point which the program uses once you click.
  21. Out of preference I'd personally stay away from integrated graphics; if you've got the budget go with a separate graphics card. I'm using a HP Pavillion c/w Intel centrino Duo, 2Gb RAM and Vista Home Premium with Nvidia GEForce 8400M GS; never had any problems with CMSF. Good luck on your quest.
  22. in the right hand pane of the unit screen - see where the units are that you've purchased? as sergei says, there's a little plus sign just to the left of the unit name; click this to expand which will open up to platoons and squads below with each click of the corresponding plus sign. click once on the unit/squad/platoon etc. that you want to get rid of. now look down bottom right - click the delete button. some units cannot be deleted e.g Hq, XO etc.
  23. wow - guess i must've missed it. Thanks for the clarification PT, yet another plus for BF
  24. Am I only just noticing this or is it an update from 1.11? Very nice little detail anyway, thanks BF
  25. you need to make a black/white alpha channel for the texture; black on the bits you want removing. it wont delete the model part bit will make it "invisible" - search for "alpha channel" in the forums should find many threads on this.
