  1. Besides the lucky 8 ball and Yew's bear charm, are there any other stat or skill boosting items that you don't wear? Besides the obvious bobbleheads and books.
  2. I'd ask why he had a loaded handgun in a nightclub, but on second thought, I can't imagine going to one without something semi-automatic, fully loaded and with extra clips.
  3. You acquire one in Megaton if you don't blow it up, you might also be able to get one in... tenpenny, was it? Haven't explored there yet.
  4. Odd and neat, but hardly worthy of being called creepy... till you swim next to it. But that's a little improbable.
  5. Blackhorse & Adam: Check here. I guess Victim, the developer, or the last remaining one anyhow, got all pissy and had a botchfit about people criticizing the mod so he stopped development, but there is .97b for CS. I haven't personally tried it yet, I gave the Vanilla CS go first and this comp is too sucky to have a nice experience, I'm holding off on a replay till I get my better comp, so I can't vouch for the experience like I can for Shadow of Chernobyl.
  6. So far the game seems pretty fun, watched a friend play from the start for a couple hours, and I would highly recommed Redux for STALKER. There are some good mods out there, even one or two that try to give a new story, but I don't think anything managed to compare to the visceral experience that is my not-great-skills and Redux created. It was about as close to living in the zone that I figure a mod can create.
  7. By the world I mostly mean the governments. It might talk about, for example, how the population of Spain condemned the war, and eventually the government pulled probably in response to this, while say Britain, my understanding is that the population condemns the war there as well, but due to relations with the US has probably stood with the US much longer than otherwise they would have. Clear mentions is that the book would actively look at foreign participation and response to the war as much as about the war itself. Depth can be sacrificed for clarity, I'm really looking for how nations have responded to the wars over the years. Have they been staunch condemners of the wars for the entire length of them. Did they initially support them and switch positions? If possible I'd like to find responses from a lot of countries besides just how 'the west' as typically reported in the media views the war. Does China condemn it? Have they said anything at all on it? Are they supporting us in it? What about Japan? Yes, there are tidbits I could pull from just news sources and run with that, but I'd like some sounder backing than, say, BBC reporting Georgia pulling out troops supporting the US in Iraq to fight August war.
  8. I was wondering if any of you grogs here might know a good book I might look up that gives a sort of summary of the Iraq/Afghan war with clear mentions of how the world has responded to this - indepth I mean, it's pretty clear the general feeling is one of disprovable. Ideally up to early 2008 if possible, maybe 2007, but preferably something very recent. Thanks. Just to clarify if for some reason it's unclear - I am NOT looking to start a political debate, just looking for information beyond whatever someone wanted to hack into wikipedia.
  9. Perhaps it's just the time I'm downloading this, but I haven't had any problems going through it, and am getting varying speeds between about 100-170kbps. Using FF3.
  10. The game sounds like training for when you're deployed to Africa to do this stuff for real.
  11. How do the mechanics compare to Oblivion? I know a lot of people placed concern on this, and I'd be curious as to how the PS3 plays, which would be my initial interest, vs how moddable it is for the PC version? Ever since really getting into wargaming I don't bother to buy nearly as many games as I used to because, hey, $60 for 2 weeks of fun, or $40 for years?
  12. Hardly surprising. I'm just curious as to whether there's more. The initial article contains only part of what was posted, so I'm guessing either he's embellished himself, or there's more.
  13. Where'd you get the part of it not linked in the article? Is the whole transcript posted somewhere? This stuff is hiliarious.
  14. I realize it would be a contract, I just meant something like it being open to multiple groups instead of just the one. However, what you say makes sense, and there's only one Charles. Thanks for answering, I really appreciate being able to speak directly to those running the operation. At a less busy time I'll have to see these marines in action.
  15. Will modules ever switch from being in-house or special contracted deals to a open system that any player that meets the requirements, including having enough content to justify a module, can develop? I'd imagine this group would be rather small considering all the skills needed to create the content that goes into the module, but I wonder whether it would extend the life of CMSF further once focus has shifted to WWII?
  16. Does this artist have a webpage someone could link me to, or is there a local artist who does these?
  17. Just wanted to echo Mark's comments, as a fellow countryman I'm proud and grateful for your service to the country, and sincerely hope everything works out for you. Also wanted to say thanks to the people who posted info on the actual conditions of deployment, I love to read actual accounts of military service and just how different it is from the civilian life I know.
  18. In all seriousness, how much care do you have to take when living down there not to disturb everything that'll kill you? Do you just get in the habit of checking everything before disturbing it, or is it not the concern those who don't live there make it out to be? Is there much that's actually aggressive, or do you need to agitate it before it's a concern? (Screw a pistol, I'd want a flamethrower to clear the room and then a shotgun for whatever I missed. Or an uzi. )
  19. It was in some sort of scandal in the news a few months back, I'm surprised you haven't even heard of it before then.
  20. Kinda disturbing, though I really wonder how well that'd hold up in a court. They're also facilitating talks between Iceland and Russia, and are working towards leading Germany to another European war, which will drain the black sea, sink Malta and Wales, as well as part of Cyprus. They also appear to be handing out Soma in the cups of java and Volkswagons.
  21. Best cooking advice out of this entire thread. Also, thanks for the suggestions with paprika.
  22. Talk about a misleading title. I thought this was going to be about the recent beheading.
  23. In what kind of dishes would you tend to use paprika?
  24. On the subject of acquiring books, the used shop Abe has a bunch of stuff I've picked up for a dollar each, some a little more. I think the most expensive thing I found there that I've wanted so far was college textbooks, $15 instead of $150. I'm doubly glad they stock those because the required book for the class is useless. It covers nothing but the first section of every chapter of this math class so far.
