I guess I have to plan, equip the squads, split them, designate targets, organize and distribute armor/infantry before I push that red square button, that will hopefully save me about 15minutes or maybe more “since I’m just learning this”.
But then again, would you dismount all your infantry squads before you really know which areas are hot? I think it’s better to leave them in until you approach enemy zone but then you’re risking losing all squad members inside the Stryker if it gets hit!
I just hate that feeling that I have to rush things before the time expires, this could lead to casualties and losing the battle.
I love arma2 but in no were comparing arma2 to this, I said it before completely different games.
Do all missions have this time limit!
I play in RT only and always pause the game and give all units some linked orders like you would do in WEGO. Then i look at the action and if something happens in pause again and change the command.
I always look at the time left and all 5 minutes i pause the game to check all orders, target arcs, maybe change TARGET into TARGET LIGHT or something.
Try to place a sniper team, a FO or maybe a FSV (with all those sensors) at a overwatch position. Dont expect them to instantly spot something, wait a few minutes.
Sometimes it will be a good idea to attract the fire with a tank if you feel save enough.
But thats maybe the most difficult part of the game...

really, what games have you been playing!! when was the last time you played a game that doesn't have tons of options? unless you're talking console!!
as for Steve, he wants minimum support headache so i don't think he has a solution for it either.
Go play dragon rising, Might as well put an hourglass on your desk while playing games.
Gotta go and study a bit.
Maybe you just played too much ArmA2 ?
Look, in this game you have many advantages compared to a "real" commander.
You can pause the game, fly over your soldiers like god ect.
The timelimit will give you some pressure to do something and dont think to much.
You will make mistakes and blame the timelimit for it but just look at it different, blame the pressure for it.
I dont like mission with to low timelimit too but if the scenario is over and you dont have taken all objectives dont be angry, analyze the situation and think "hey, only one enemy platoon left, they would not have a chance...i win".
And please dont make the mistake to compare this game with ArmA2. Its good that you cant mod the whole game or it would possible to destroy the balance.

Just a quick question:
If i use the Marine folder then all US units have these voices.
If i play US-Army i hear "run marines run" or give me a Corpsman"...
Now if i put the Army folder in and take the Marine folder out i just dont have the marine "special" voices like to two examples above ?
That would be great because i dont need them.

unless there is something wrong with my settings or display driver but i see a map "playable area" floating above the entire terrain only obvious if you zoom out, you can make it disappear if you zoom in enough. This is a major issue to me, i have never played a game with something like this and don't understand why is it there? i will be checking out the demo before buying for sure.
I dont undersatnd what you try to say.
Do you mean that the "playable" Map and the background with the hills ?
-
lol, will do, back to school
For your problem with the buildings and the mortars, use "General" next time instead of "Armor".
By the way, i never used Anti-Armor ammunition for the artillery in CMSF.
-
i tried the armor one :-)
how to cancel a move order?
I would say you should read the manual, seriously !
It is a bit dry to read all this stuff but it will help you to understand the game much better.
As i bought the two modules i started reading all the description of the new weapon systems to undestand them and get some idea how to use them in battle.
-
It really seems like i mixed something up...
I just made a test with a M1A2 SEP against two AT-14 at 2000m
The M1 took 8 hits at the front before he was unable to move and the crew was still alive.
I played no CMSF for nearly a month so it looks like i mixed something here.
-
If i read all this it sounds like destroying modern tanks like the M1 is very hard.
But in CMSF i lost many of them to enemy ATGM.
And my T90S gets blown away from one hit from a Challenger in the scenario i played last night.
-
Oh yes, thats true.
If i read "no enemie ATGM" iam scared all the time to move my armor around because i know that map is full of ATGM's...

Hi,
first try it without any mods and you will see what you need.
Then go to:
http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=314&func=select&id=2
and search for the mods you need.

Start the programm:
The first line you set the location you want the save your pictures.
Make a check on the box below.
Below you then you chose JPEG.
Dont check the box below.
Now make a check by "DRUCK" that means print on your keybord.
Below check the first box.
And now, ingame you just press PRINT and hear a click sound. Now go to the location you chose and here must be a jpeg, your Screenshot.
If it dont works, sorry but i read it works with Vista too.
-
Sadly this does not work, the captured pics are the same, all black. Is it possible to take screenshots of CMSF in Win7/XP? If not then I'm assuming it's an issue with CMSF.
As it stands, the only way to take screenshots of CMSF in-game is with FRAPS.
What OS do you use ?
This programm works fine with XP and should work with Vista too. But i dont know about Win7.
Just start the programm and press ingame the key you have set-up in the options (Print Screen is it normaly) of the programm.
If you have problem because its german, ask me and i will help you.
-
Looks nice.
Has anyone figured out how to take screenshots on Vista? without using FRAPS
Try this nice little programm, i use it under XP since years and it will work under Vista too:

Will German troops in the module be able to fire them on the move (which, as can be seen in the video, is possible), from both the shoulder position and at waist level by holding the bipod with the left hand, at targets at close range (maybe 100 yards or less)?
Sounds like Rambo to me...

Ok, i think now i understand it.
80 % casualty percentage would mean (a bit simplified) that at this point of the battle the regiment has only 20 % manpower and material left that is not negativ affected by the previous combat in some way.
If i (my english is bad) understand this correct:
The infantry combat results tables are a bit liberal to reflect some troops conceptually choosing to stop firing or to otherwise remove themselves from harm's way. That means that TacOps represent something like giving up or running away from combat ?
Could you please explain these two things ?
Force Lethality Ratio
EXITED <- i think that means units who reached the border of the map ?

Very interesting, thanks !

I always liked to see the casualty count after the battles in Combat Mission or Close Combat.
Now if i took 56% casualtys (i think that means KIA, WIA and MIA) and the enemy 80%...thats was a really bloody battle.
I know that in such games the casualtys are generally to high but a regiment taking 80% casualtys and lose 122 of its 144 BTR80 in a 1.5 hour battle...wow.
Maybe i just dont know enough about such kind of battles and someone can tell me if iam wrong.
I also would like to know if there are troops giving up or running away are represent in the game.
...ah and Happy new year !
-
Furthermore, what would you prefer: having to exit the game to adjust settings or not having this possibility at all.
Thats the point, having such a option is always better for all players !
-
Thanks for the answer Major H !
I downloaded the demo and played it a bit, looks good so far.
If i see this correct there are no KIA, WIA or MIA statistics ?
-
My grandpa was in the 12.SS in Normandy, i will ask him if they had any MP-44 there.
Maybe he can remember...
-
Thanks for the answer Steve !
CMSF has a .ini to set the resolution, maybe it is possible to have a .ini to control the draw distance of objects (trees, trenches ect.) because i think the game engine dosent use and take benefit from the power of modern gaming PC's.
Im sure that even with a much stronger PC as my current one, the draw distance would stay the same.

Hi,
i play CM games a long time now, startng with CMBB and now CMSF with both modules.
I always want to try out TacOps but never did it.
Is the game easy to understand for CM players like me ?
And is the game still supported with patches, new scenarios ect ?
I expect the game runs in window mode, but hope you can play it full screen with 1280x1024 at modern TFT's too ?
-
Thanks SoopSandwich !
-
Now what about POW's ?
I need to see units surrender in a WW2 game like in CMx1...

Hey bardosy, i liked your "Dam It" scenario for the Brits and will try this campaign soon !
