  1. Updated (when the Repository gets around to it) to 1.1 to include contact icons.
  2. Yes, tks, Erwin. Oddly, this mod is turning out to be more more popular than the Commonwealth one. Or maybe not so oddly. As I've grown older I've noticed that normal, red-blooded men can be counted on to appreciate three things in life: a good looking woman, professional sports, and SS paraphernalia. Updated to 1.2 to include contact icons and other fixes.
  3. Cordless mice are da bomb! Unfortunately they enjoy the life expectancy of a moth.
  4. But it's likely they were cowering on the floor. Time for an inf assault?
  5. I often observe dance academy etiquette when a vehicle pauses and politely allows another to proceed. Rare, irc, in the CM1 series; you'd often get a cluster-****. One appreciates good manners in this day and age.
  6. Vehicle pathing is far, far better now than in the CM1 titles and require less babysitting. Just a bit of common sense is required when issuing commands.
  7. Have you noticed that the typical British squad posses no binoculars? How does this play out tactically?
  8. Geez, all the mapmaker needs to do is insert a mud or dirt tile under the gap. Et voila! No confusion. Steve posted to this effect months ago. The designers appear not to have learned this simple lesson. (no offence!) What they have done in CW, responding to frustrated posts on the forum,is stud the bocage with innumerable gaps. Maybe a bit excessively. Especially the High Bocage variety. The hedges were, after all, a formidable barrier. But, in their defense, responding to user demands can prove to be a lose-lose proposition.
  9. Yes, observing that behavior more and more. But there's a caveat. In interest of absolute realism, a goal to which BFC aspires, lower experience formations- greens, conscripts- *should* crowd the windows in a heedless rush. Suicidal battle noobs that they are.
  10. An out-of-C2 regular SS team decimates an approaching Brit squad. No more bunching up at windows? Or optical illusion? This feature was not mentioned in the log notes.
  11. I should add that the icons in the above screenie look a bit mottled around the edges. This is an odd rendering from my laptop. On the desktop they're clean and crisp.
  12. OK, Winrar worked. CW Commonwealth icons uploaded to the Repository. SS tomorrow.
  13. Hehe. I just tried to upload the Commonwealth icon mod- the khaki is darker- but the Repository kept rejecting the file extensions (brz &7z). What AM I doing wrong? Haven't finished the SS dudes.
  14. Tks, Bob. I'll aim for release by Monday. There will be two- separate- icon brz files, the Commonwealth and the SS. Due to a BFC folder quirk, the former will not be compatible with the American icons and the latter with the Heer icons. They need to be swapped out. Now, on a lighter note, a tribute to the Schutzstaffel:
  15. I don't mind changing out my CW icons for the American ones and vice versa; one tends not to jump around on the Allied side. And the Commonwealth module is new! and exciting! But there are many SS/Heer scenarios in both the base and the module and juggling the brz files may prove onerous. Battlefront needs to address this. I just began the SS mod. If I finish over the weekend I'll post it to the Repository. White on Black may be overly striking. Gray and Black might be better. Opinions? The eye should be drawn to the squad/team/vehicle not what's floating overhead. I find it appropriate that different that different services, like the Rangers and the Airborne, should feature proprietary color themes. Like them the SS had a decided ethos. And not entirely negative.
  16. Thanks, Para. The problem is that the graphics files are a oddly configured, some of the symbols are shared, like FOs and HQs. I could release this mod but if you were using an exclusively Heer force you get the SS icons unless you removed the brz file first from the Z folder. I managed to make tan Commonwealth icons (which look a bit yellowish on the forum), which I use and prefer, but there's that slight inconvenience of changing out the file if you move from British to American. User friendly icon mods may have to await a (minor) update from BFC.
  17. Probably a pure black background is preferable....
  18. OK, fixed. These are not proper khaki colored icons- which I find a bit hard to read. They're tan. Of course they can be darkened.
  19. Yes! It's the experience! Winning is so...bourgeois. That command seems to exist for use in hectic RT matches and for the benefit of the AI-which doesn't split its squads intra-battle. Or the merely lazy.
  20. Exactly my philosophy! Splitting can become micro-management Hell esp with the new- and gigantic- CW maps and scenarios (love them with the extra memory!). In CM1 there was, irc, a small morale penalty for splitting. And that penalty may still be active as far as we know. Additionally, one questions that low experience units should be allowed to split at all, e.g. most of the Russian squads in CMBB. That said, I do use them a lot- for scouting, breaking off AT teams, small scale assaults and, above all, defense. But I don't want to be *compelled* to split every squad, all the time in the interests of winning. Too much trabajo.
