  3. Can someone give me a pointer on why should we Bake the scenarios made ? They seem to work in the game without it and after baking the scenarios multiply by several the size of the file. Am i missing a more serious implication of not baking the scenario, besides locking the finished mission ?

If they made the M1A1 impervious to 125mm fire has they made the Bradleys to 30mm fire from BMP2, the only tactic needed in this game would be, pick your Abrahams in point A and walk to point B, smash the enemy, total victory. Besides i watched a Abrahams resist 3 125mm side shots from a T72 in Allah´s Fist scenario, but they eventualy went down.

  7. What you mean by SOP. Dont need to be a military man to know that firing HE at armoured units will get you killed well before the enemy. No need to be in the military, you can play ToW and find by yourself, they model it realisticaly, and you can chose wich ammunition to fire also. Oh and talking about the beta. Why are my ARMOR in quick battles appearing has UAZ jeeps and recon detachment of infantry most of the time.
  8. In game the BMP 2 sometimes fire 30mm HE rounds at Bradleys, useless. Sometimes fire 30mm AT rounds, can kill after 20 or 30 shots even if at point balank, and are killed after 4 or 5 rounds of 25mm rounds from the bradleys. The ATGM fired from BMP2 however are very efective against bradleys even at close range, but they usualy first fire HE rounds, stop, wait, fire AT rounds, stop, wait a lot, fire atgm, score a kill. Its rare they have that chance. I know that because my gaming pc if off duty with CM:SF because of the ATI left click crash issue. So i am at my old PC trying to make a scenario in wich a Bradley cavalry unit assaults a stronghold defended by uncon infantry and a squad of BMP2 hiding behind buildings. So i often engage at close range with BMP when Bradleys are busy trashing the infantry in buildings with 25mm fire. My conclusion after about 5 rounds tryed has defender. The Bradleys are too powerfull to face, the defenders dont stand a chance. So i am swaping to red vs red and swapp the bradleys and hummves for a squad of BMP2 and a recon unit with BRDM2.
  9. The reds are always understrenght. Sometimes when chosing armor i get a recon squad with UAZ jeeps. Sometimes, there is no setup zone. Many bugs to squish, but i had much fun in a meeting engagement between BMP 1 and strikers. I got 3 BMP1 and 2 atgm and 2 inf squads against 8 strikers and accompaniyng infantry. I won but lost all the BMP to javelins.
  10. Didn´t know that thing about imperial guard veterans! Hey guys i made my first mission ! My first ever in any game, the scenario editor is quite fun to work with.
  11. I know i am a zealous fre... and i am proud of it. Not sure about that "grognard" thing, i can´t find it in the dictionary. Don´t worry massive, you will have fun with the CM:SF bugs, i run a couple of rounds at the office in a pc with a nvidia 6600, the game looks great, but has some funny bugs. My favourite bug so far is selecting syryan side and armor in quick battle and in place of 3 T72 tanks, getting 4 infantry squads with rifles and 4 GAZ-64 jeeps (without crew) and randomly droped across the wole map. Someone considered a willys jeep a main battle tank. Not fun when facing M1a1 Abrahams 70 tons mammoths tough.

  13. Yep, get a passive one, without fan, less noisy and less power consumption. But the Gt may worth the extra bucks in performance. Watch out for your power supply, the GT sucks more electricity.
  14. Hummm, AGP card right... I would go for a nvidia 7600GT, they should be availabe for AGP and have good price\performance value.
  15. Alt W to turn off in game shadows, some people say it helps. Some people with 8800 nvidia cards and dual core processors are having major issues with performance, crapy drivers also i believe. My computer at work runs the game just fine with an ancient nvidia 6600.
  16. Steiner i don´t think the problem with ATI cards is performance. My ATI X1950pro runs the game smothly with max settings and good resolution on Vista. Has long has i don´t left click anything in the map i can watch the battle going on untill the scenario time ends and the mission concludes. Of course it means i can´t play the game but when the left click CTD issue is solved i will have great performance.
  17. Well, ToW has better graphics and eye candy, more units, and i really like their damage model. And it has a easier interface to use and play. And it allows for individualy give orders to soldiers inside a squad. But it seriously lacks a custom battle generator were you can make your own engagements with the units available. The campaign missions are boring, based on massive numbers of enemy forces. And the victory conditions in the scenarios have serious problems. CM:SF has a more interesting gameplay regarding objectives, that can be individually set for each side, urban combat with floor to floor fighting, and allows for more tactical choices. It still has major bugs and its custom battle generator is still flawed. But with some bug squishing and a polished quick battle mode it will be tacticaly superior to ToW. In conclusion, a real time strategy gamer will get into ToW really fast, specialy if they add a custom battle sistem and better suported multiplayer. Someone more interested in tactics in a more old school wargame will like more CM:SF, specially when it´s custom battle sistem becames better. And it can be played real time or turn based. Of course modern war and second war settings have major differences in gameplay. So be advised, many CM1 players that called ToW crap, will call CM:SF crap, because evolution doesn´t stop in time, CM:SF is more fast paced and fun than the earlier CM, and it isn´t WWII.
  18. New ATI cards only. They have crapy opengl drivers. They run the game smothly in max settings but have a bug that crashes the game to desktop when you left click anything in the map. The people in battlefront didn´t had trouble with their ATI cards because they are poor and all have old cards. Some people are having the same problem in XP, left click and a atiox32 error shows up with crash to desktop. Spiny Mouse, probably you need to change the drivers of the videocard. Ask someone with a running game in a x800 wich drivers are they using. And there´s a site with improved ati drivers, but for XP only. [ July 31, 2007, 02:26 AM: Message edited by: MikoyanPT ]
  19. Thanks battlefront ! Good to know. Lots of people with ATI cards are eagerly awaiting to play this game. Until then i will continue to watch CM:SF in "spectator mode" and learning how the AI moves.

  21. Funny thing, ATI has good performance but crashes, NVIDIA has bad performance (people around the forum are complaining). The ones that are happy is people with old sistems with proven drivers. Lets face it, the new drivers for good cards are jinxed, and one major reason for that is that "Windows Blody Vista TM" !
  22. Hi desrt fox, a couple of people have tried this. By rune sugestion but it doesn´t change the left click crash. Have faith guys, Battlefront always delivers, and the game was released for 2 days only.
