  1. According to the main website, the full game is around 2.5 gigs
  2. very funny. I will be checking it every day though
  3. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, those of us who preordered already have the link in our confirmation email, it just doesn't go anywhere yet. I wonder. If they activated that link now, without an announcement, how long do you think it would take before the news spread that it's alive?
  4. Nothing generates anticipation like silence.
  5. I was curious to know more detail aboutthe weather engine. How is it imporoved over what we have in Il-2? Can weather conditions change during the course of battle? Are weather conditions randomly automated, or are they scripted into individual missions? How do they affect gameplay? What else can you tell us about weather in TOW?
  6. Fourtunately, as this is not a mainstream game, I strongly suspect that the vast majority of those who likely to purchase this game, already know about it and are following it right here on this forum. While the trailer itself will not likely attract many newcomers, I do not think it will scare them away either as pretty detailed info is openly available.
  7. As I have said before, I am in agreement with many out there that this trailer is inappropriate for TOW. Simply put, it was a poor judgement call. If you want to sell screwdrivers, then why would you advertise wrenches? Be that as it may, I feel that it is less significant than some here seem to think. I cannot imagnine anyone buying any game based solely on a trialer. If they do, they are fools. Secondly, let us also remember that Battlefront did not design this game, nor did they produce this trailer. Thus their say in the matter was probably limited.
  8. I agree. It is a bit deceptive. To watch the vid, you come away with the impression that this is a spruced up version of Battlefield 1942.
  9. Despite what most are saying, I think most of what is upsetting people is the fact that they did not create a brand new vid for the Western release. The tone of Battlefront's earlier promotional statements implied without stating outright that TOW's improvements over the original Russian verion, warrant considering it a whole game. Using the original trailer kind of contradicts that, and I fear that some here may have taken that as a slap in the face.
  10. Because you have to activate each instalation online using the single key that you have. The key will work twice. When you uninstal the game, this also invlolves an online confirmation.
  11. When setting up mulitplayer games, I wonder if it is possible to restrict the availalble view points? This could solve the issue to a certian degree. For example, let's say that only the "first person" view was permitted in a given battle (perhaps one in which each player only commanded a single battalion so as to limit the need to switch around excessively), I dare say that concealment would be much more effective. In Il-2 this can certainly be done, and often is. For instance, players can be limited to only using the cockpit view if that is what the host wants to do. Obviously it makes the game quite a bit tougher.
  12. "Secondly, in theory if you and your friend bought the game, you only need to download once. You can install the exact same version on your computer and your friends. The only thing you need to do is to use a different key to license it." Simply a clarification here. If this violates the rules, just say so. Would it be possible/permissible for two people to share a single activation, since it allows two per purchse? That is, if one person bought the game and only wishes to use it on one computer, coule he/she allow a friend to install and activate the game on their own machine (obvoiuly just once)?
  13. How much music does the soundtrack contain? Is it a lot of different pieces, or just a handfull? By the way, is their an option to play your own recordings (CDs/MP3s) during gameplay?
  14. Does the AI have scalable intelligence settings? Is there any/much AI involvedon the player's side? For example, if I give a soldier/platoon and order to move forward, will it react automatically to an ambush (i.e. shoot back) if I do not give it further instructions? Or will it simply keep moving forward untill I tell it otherwise?
  15. Was that in-game music or something you put togethter just for the film?
  16. I was afraid of that. I surely hope that aspect of the game will be improved in the future.
  17. Are airfields positioned on any of the actual game maps? Does the proximity of airfields to the battle affect how long it takes to call in an airstrike? Can you see enemy/friendly planes taking off and landing? Can you capture enemy airfields and take the planes under your command or at least put them out of business while they are still on the ground?
  18. Looks like 90+ preorders confirmed in this thread alone. I am sure that there are quie a few more who did not post here
  19. Too bad they did not integrate the two games as was rummored back in the beginning. Any of you guys remember hearing this? I realize that that TOW is a strategy title, but it still seems like it would have been cool to fly CAp or tankbusting missions in TOW with the aircraft form Il-2.
  20. Hi Hunter, I played Il-2 for many years as well, so its good to see a fellow flightsimmer here. Welcome.
  21. In multiplayer, is is posible for 2 or mroe players to fight cooperatively on the same side? For example, could you have one player in charge of U.S. tropps, and another incharge of British troops, with both fighting together against against the Germans?
  22. My order is in. Move out Soldier! (Move my package out the door, that is)
  23. By the way what kind of shipping will you use for American domestic orders?
