  1. Kadoogan...all missions are what? From where? New ones? Wouldn't all the missions except a few be in the game download? Just asking.
  2. In the USA...the best place to see all of the main AFV's is the army test proving grounds, in Aberdeen Maryland. I have some great photos...taken way back in the early 90's but don't have the time or knowledge to put them up somewhere right now. Maybe in the future I'll put them on my website...but I'm having trouble getting the picts that are there up properly.
  3. This IS GREAT NEWS! As some of the people in the above statements have said.....I will dust off my TOW icon and get with the program again. It just needed some tweeking and support! Mahalo...
  4. Great update Madmatt. Many mahalo's for it! You are right many issues are inter-related and most of the major gameplay issues seem to be on the docket also. Mahalo again!
  5. Ohhhhh Boy, this tomato throwing backyard war sounds great! ROFLOL!
  6. Most of all the comments and arguments and ideas presented here are right on. Destraex, I'm not trying to have an argument with you about my computer. We agree on almost everything. It is interesting though that "Prince of Eckmuhl ( sorry NO umlout (sp) on this computer) has stated that their was a problem with windows XP but that they had fixed it Quote---"The problem is that the video card's 2D is too fast for CC in WinXP. There's a fix for it at the CSO website, I believe. The problem is also fixed in the CC3-CoI upgrade recently released by Simtek and published by Matrix Games." He put my problem on the mark and since I do have CC3-COI it also works just fine now. I would also like to note that I spent quite a bit of time trying to work out THAT PROBLEM with the CSO guys...but to no avail. It might have been my troubles with that led them to fix it...LOL...at least I hope so...LOL. Hey, it works fine now and I want to move on. TOW needs some work but lets let that happen before we "CAN" it! Mahalo...for all the comments though.....
  7. "what are you talking about?" I'll tell you what I was talking aout.....My computer and my XP would not let the line of sight and movement lines (direct draw or what etc} work properly...maybe the video card. It was a brand new dell (fixed up for gaming)Dimension XPS Gen 4 and it did not work correctly! How suscinc can I be? So I was CC down for almost 2 years and it just started working again with the new CC-COI! Whatever they did to up grade the new version of CC worked for me. Get it! Worked for me! I was talking about the CC game and TOW...and so let's talk about that. Yes, the early CC's had their flaws. All of what you stated on them were true. The bad tank pathing was the worst. Anyway, both are good games...TOW is gonna need some work though.
  8. I'm a really big fan of the CC series and I agree with almost everything in the above comments. TOW can be the "Best Game" ever if it gets it's act together. Most of the problems I believe can be cleared up by patches and the modding community! Anyway, let's sure hope so! I had to stop playing CC a couple of years ago because it became incompatable with my XP. Since the release of COI ( Close Combat Cross of Iron ) it is once again working on my machine and once again is my favorite wargame. I don't care if it's 2D as opposed to 3D...it has all the components of what things were like in total combat in WWII. All this being said...I still love TOW because of what it already is and what it can be! Let's play them both and bring TOW up to snuff!
  9. Hey ShiftZ...I agree totally with what you said. Kinda funny though...I was playing board wargames back in the 60's even before I played "real war". The Avalon Hill board game of "Squad Leader" is a perfect match for TOW and a few others. I helped play test that one back then and also wanted computers to take over things such as AI. It was just to tough to find someone else to play against. Ahh, the good old days...Naaaah I like the games of today much better. TOW to me seems like an extension of the Close Combat series which is my favorite Computer game. I've always been a WWII freak...because I grew up with a Dad and Uncle's who were there and told great stories. I however don't tell stories about my experiences. Anyway, here's to a great future for TOW and all those who will mod it and play it.
  10. I seconed the two above posts... "At times the infantry do seem to be a little 'on their own' but I've never heard of a battle or war where every single soldier did exactly as told when faced with life threatening conditions. I like the realism. The scope of this does make it somewhat overwhelming, without having the 'turn sequence of CM; but, again, there were never turn sequences in real life." "Me too and don't foget if its a little over whelming for you CMBB players theres a pause button." I like the overall feel of it and you must realize that it needs tweaks. As Donald Sutherland said in "Kelly's Hero's"...."Stop with those negative vibes man". LOL!
  11. Obviously some of you complainers must love the 2 minute or so intervals that the CM series has and the 3 man representive that each hang/man stick figure represents. There are a lot of things that need tweking, so in the meantime GO play something else. The rest of us will try and fix things we find wrong and move on with a real feel of big space combat. Not every battle in WWII was fought in a small area or town/city. I'll let it develope before I kick it to the curb!
  12. posted April 20, 2007 10:50 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Seems no one except BFC can make realistic wargames. I guess your right...especially, if you like to stop the action every minute and a half and give the orders. With men that really represent 3 men and look quite a bit like the "Hangman" stick figures.
  13. I wonder if it is only happening during campaigns because when I play a single mission I went through it as smooth as silk! HUH! It was the big German Soviet Steel battle and it was a awsome fight!
  14. I have to agree about most of the above. The game takes some getting used to but all things considered it's working pretty good. With some fine tuning and some mod work this game WILL be a real winner! I have had two freeze up's and one was in the first battle of the French campaign...but then again the French always FREEZE UP! LOL! Have to figure out how to end a battle...especially when your loosing. I don't want to loose men for nothing. I would like to retain some of my original troops to make them better later. So how do you leave a loosing battle and still maintain a fighting force?
  15. Have not seen anything on the forums yet about lock up's and or freezes. I had one while using the Demo...had to turn the machine off as well as another lock-up with the beginning scenario of the French Campaign. Another TURN THE MACHINE OFF! Other than those two lock-ups everything is running fine and I'm learning how to use the interphase as well. Unfortunately for me...I'm suffering the same fate as the FRENCH! LOL!
  16. Thanx Matt, for all of the hard work and honesty. And I'm giving you many Mahalo's from Hawaii. Mahalo, Mahalo, Mahalo!
  17. Well, let me put it this way...I was born just before D-Day WWII. I've been in the Army..."Nam" and was a playtester for the original Squad Leader board game by Avalon Hill. I have taught US.History, World History, Political Science, Geography PE and have been a Baseball/Softball coach on the High School/College level as well as European Club teams. WWII has always been "IT" for me! Favorite games are Close Combat...the whole series (Cross Of Iron Rocks) IL2, Silent Hunter III/IV and a few other odd games here and there. I have used many games and simulations to get my students interested and involved in History. It's one of the best tools you can have if you use them correctly. I've been following the developement of this game for nearly 6 years now and can't wait till it comes out. To all those who have worked on this project a big "Mahalo". My website http://www.graymansbanter.com/
  18. Moon, great news and especially since I've been waiting for this game forever. Well, maybe not forever but at least 5 years and counting! A big "Mahalo" for all the hard work, sweat and tears to all who have worked on this great project!
  19. On the whole Roger I agree with you about the flag issue, but I have always wondered why the Japanese Rising Sun flag has always been included in many games. One could say for the sake of argument that a lot of relatives died horrible deaths in POW camps (American-British-Chineese-Korean-Aussies-Dutch & Kiwis)as well as medical experiments. There is a lot of bad stuff that the Japanese did that is still unkown to the general public. I'm a former History teacher and I usually say that everything should be authentic because it needs to be talked about more in schools. It's a good stimulant for debate and as far as PC is concerned you know where I think that crap should go!!!
  20. Yes, there are a few things (troops not being able to enter buildings) not going to work yet but overall sounds very nice. No Demo? Now what did you expect! BF should take as much time as it needs to get as many things right as they can. As a matter of fact...they should take another month or month and a half to get things right and release it in late February. The last statement is because I'll be on vacation overseas for a month, and I'm pissed that others will get it and be playing it before I even get back home! LOL! So, with this latest news.....it pretty much makes this forum useless till the middle of January...SEE YEAH! LOL!
  21. Wolf, I totally agree with you! All of the recent WWII games are ****! This is why I have real faith for TOW, or should I say BFC, or WTC. One of the biggest problems these games have is the CAMERA work...they really suck. Every one of these recent games all seem SO ARCADY. I mean...build a supply dump in less than a minute or flags ALL OVER THE PLACE. Just make someting that is as realistic as possible...is that TOO much to ask for? I mean com'on...all this wasted money and time for JUNK! Well, here's hoping.

    Hello?

Whaco, didn't 1c make IL2 and is that a WWII game or not? Just "kidding", many of us have been waiting for this game...am I right or am I right.....LOL!
  23. Sfox28

    Hello?

I get a kick out of many of you guys talking about folowing the game for a couple of years...like 2 or 3! How bout following it for 5 years? It was talked about in IL2 forums about that long ago and those were the days when it was called Battlefield Command...then Wartime Command now it's Theater of War! LOL!
  24. AMEN, (Yahoshuda)and thanks for stating the Obvious!
