  1. I just posted some remarks on a new thread regarding the Caen campaign the gist of which was that I wouldn't have purchased the expansion had I known that it was only a Brit campaign. The mission generator will not let you play, even, a single game as German! So, I'm in the same boat as all of the above pun-dents! LOL!
  2. Well, I purchased Caen last night but did not know that you could only play as the Brits! The mission generator will also NOT let you generate a game as Germans! This is very un-like the TOW I like! Any answers to this quandary? I would not have purchased the expansion if I would have known that I could not play BOTH sides! Also, getting bounced to the desktop most of the time seems to be a regular occurrence when playing TOW 2 Kursk and Caen. Any reasons for these questions? I've been a TOW supporter since the beginning...but I'm getting tired of the lack of common sense involved with trying to play this game! FRUSTRATED!!!
  3. How do you un-lock all the campaign scenarios? Mahalo, for any help.
  4. Thanks Hafer, I'll try that this next time.
  5. Yep, that's the one...Infantry only.....any help would be appreciated. Mahalo.....
  6. Now #4 "Where Iron Crosses Grow"...That seems a little harder for me. I've tried it twice and almost made it on the second try...but just too much artillery and infantry.....so far. Any ideas?
  7. I get into Russian made scenarios and when I try to move the units...I get bounced to Windows desktop! Only the Russian made scenarios! Go figure?
  8. OK, it took me try 3 to make a overwhelming victory happen. You need to use 2 panthers and 3 or 4 infantry units to take out the 3 AT's in the central grove directly to your front. Use mortars, if you have them here also. After I took out these 3 AT positions I sent the remaining armor, 4 panthers and 2 tigers, plus my remaining infantry 3 or 4 squads on a far left flanking maneuver...go as fast as possible. Your AF will take out several of the enemy on the left flank hill...also use some mortar fire here also. Use your smoke barrage to blind the Soviet forces in the central fortifications and stay as far left as you can with your left flanking forces. I came up to the left soviet position with everything intact and swept through that area taking everything out. A couple of dug in tank positions were a little harder to get at as I had 2 panthers crippled but both tigers and 2 other panthers cleared the left fortification out. I then used the soviet tank dug in positions to take out the central fort tank positions. I drove 1 tiger along the trench to deal with the far right fortifications (2 dug in tanks there) but had to storm the far right position with the tiger and infantry to finally take that position. I also used 1 panther and more infantry to secure the central position. I had 5 mobile panzer s and 2 immobile panzer s to deal with the soviet counterattack. One other panther was immobilized in the first AT ditch attack and was basically out of the CA defense. But with these forces available...I was able to easily repel the soviet response. The key was going left flank (as far left as I could go) and using smoke to blind the enemy as much as possible. I was really surprised that it worked as well as it did. Victory at last in an area that looked like a real hard nut to crack unless you moved quickly and used your assets as best as possible. Wow, it was fun though!
  9. I know it maybe a little early but are their any new Kursk '43 Mods available yet? I'm sure as we progress we will get quite a few...because Modders are the best people in the world esp. when they like the game or simulation. The jsgme mod switcher will do the work...correct? Mahalo, for all the great help in this forum.....
  10. Thanx for your help Schrullenhaft. I remember now that that was the permanent way to solve that Vista problem. A friend had shown me that quite a while ago and I simply forgot about it...excuse...I'm friggin OLD...LOL! As for the other, with patches the old saved games are unplayable...I know that. It seems that it's happening now when I play the game. Eg: I was playing Germans...won two battles and when I tried a third...I got bounced back to the first battle again? Does any of this make any sense. Could that also be the "Run as Admin" problem. Which I have now fixed, by the way...LOL! Anyway, I'll start over now and see if things run smoother. Again, Mahalo.....
  11. I thought I saw something in the forum about.....don't play a campaign until a new patch comes out. It seems that when I play a new campaign it only goes for a while and then drops the campaign or repeats the same map, scenario or game. In other words, I cannot play a campaign yet?! Is there any truth to this and if so when can we expect a change...so that we can play a campaign straight through. Because, as it stands now I cannot get the campaign process to go any further than two maps. ??? Any help would be appreciated, Mahalo,
  12. I was having the same problem with the MG. I did Admin rights the first time I went into the game...but it looks like I will have to do Admin run every time I go into the game because the MG works now.
  13. In TOW 1 there was a way to release all battles, in the game, to play them individually. I forgot how to do that and can it be done in TOW 2? Could someone please lend a hand here? Mahalo,
  14. Mongo, thanks from me also...as I have had the same problem. Quick question: I can't seem to save the campaign game...any clues? At the start of TOW2 after download and play start...(In TOW...their were battles listed) No battles are listed in the game beginning log? Is it because None were included?
  15. Ditto, ditto, ditto! It needs some real changes and something to put some life into a real campaign!
  16. Hey gnasher, Kudo's to you and what you are trying to do. Yes, what you said and are doing is the right way to make it work in a real campign mode. Unfortunately,I will just speak for myself, I'm just too dumb and or do not have the time or expertise to get things right! I was speaking of...how the game is now in it's pure form. There are some people who just want to play multiplayer...which is fine and I love that. But after a while, even that gets a little boring. Why have all the individual promotions and awards (Medals) in the game if you can't keep making your core cadre a strong one. The bottom line is that what your doing (gnasher-campaign) is what makes games like this and the CC series really work! Major Kudos...to all the great modders that make this kind of gaming fun for IDIOTS like me! LOL!
  17. It's just a 1 battle game as it stands right now. A real honest campaign mode is nowhere in sight at the moment. Unless of course you play the same battle over and over until you get lucky and defeat the swarms of enemy that will overwhelm you. This of course, even if your the Russian Army in May of 1945! LOL!
  18. Han, I think if you get a little deeper...maybe the JSH mod you might see some of the things that you see missing. I've seen Achilles and Typhoons. As far as your other assesments...I agree totally! One of my last and tiresome problems with the way things are now is the lack of any real Campaign mode. What I mean by that is, IMHO, a Campaign that actually has some real Historical significance to it. With the fight to the death mode that has TOW in it's grip, right now, It's kind of hard to keep moving on in the Campaign with any of your troops unless you play each game 20 times or more! I just feel like I go NOWHERE! MP is good but It's still a 1 BATTLE deal. The CC system is the best. I just want this game to get more of CC's mode into it. That, and TOW's 3D graphics will push it over the top as far as best ever! Until it reaches a higher level...I'm a bit bored with it!
  19. All of what has been said here is great stuff! I'm just a bit too old and not wise enough to get through the TOW Map and Campaign Editors. I can only go so far...LOL! But, I have been a great play-tester and would help as much as possible especially with the historical aspects of the Campaign (or Operations). There's that word again "HISTORICAL". Now I'm really laughing out loud. But seriously, getting the TOW community to get with the program, much like the CC crowd, would be excellent for the future of this great game!
  20. Ditto, from me also. MP is the real way to go! Too much crazyness on the SP side.
  21. Gnasher, great stuff your working on. It really sounds like that is the real way a recon unit would handle the situation (Reichenberg also excellent comments and recomendations). Hey, were all here just trying to make a great game even greater.
  22. I just noticed this paragraph from Reichenberg: "But now I think one of the short comings of ToW mission design comes onto play - as mentioned by Sfox28: In a situation with way superior defending forces the attacking force would most likely withdraw, wait for additional forces and try to attack with at least a chance of success. In ToW we are forced to "waste" our first wave of troops to switch the according trigger to get additional forces....." This is what I'm talking about when we talk Historical, or what would you have done if you were the CO of a recon group that ran into a situation like this. But to many, it dosen't matter how logical a situation would call for some common sense. It dosen't matter. MP for now.
  23. "Is it possible to have a trigger that gives you additional forces once your own force saw the majority of the defending force e.g. 4 out of 6 King Tigers??" Not that I've seen. Some of you folks are missing the point...and it just isn't worth the time to get into a verbal squabble about it... So think whatever the hell you want...end of story!
  24. Geeeeze...guys arn't we a little senseative! All I was saying is that it's just like all the other TOW battle missions that seem to be in the game. It's a wonder that almost anyone says anything about the game the way this forum shapes up sometime. If you want to argue Historical...I'll go after you with all the expertise I have otherwise It's a friggin comment! And since I think I still live in an America the the WWII vets fought for ( and our European friends also fought and died for) I think I have the right to talk about this subject so let's not get our panties in a bunch eh? As far as I'm concearned anyone who does a mission with this game DOES A GOOD JOB! If you've read any of my other posts...I just hate it when the battles are a bit far from the truth. It just gets me when, say, it's 1944/45 you've got a few tanks (say 4 T-34's two of which maybe 85's)...& it's eastern europe's liberation time...Historically, masses of Soviet Armor and men and you end up going against 6...yes count them, 6 King Tigers 2 regular Tigers at least 2 panthers a few PzIV's and a couple of TD's or Assault guns. Let's not even mention the Pak40's. Then when you get your butt kicked, your triggered AI gives you 2 IS2's and a couple more throw-in T34's at least 2 of which are older model 34's...GEE THANK YOU GOD! If your lucky enough to get through that you will be counter-attacked by 3 panthers at least 2 or 3 Tigers a PzIV or 2 and of course another TD or Assault gun. What's Historical about that? It sounds more like Hystrical. I could bring up more scenario's but I haven't that much gas left in MY tank...I'm sure you will thank me for that. ROFLOL! Remember, "This is a friggin COMMENT on the game". I love the game. But I'm going with what Mushead is doing.....going MP with him. I've made a few missions myself, I just don't think they are right for posting and uploading yet. Mahalo...to those who understand.
