  1. Rumour has it he's here on the condition that he make pancakes for everyone.
  2. Mmmm, pancakes. Pancake season has just begun in Calgary! Many pancakes and bottles of beer will be served up over the next 11 days. And many babies will be born 9 months from now. The city becomes one big funny farm. It's a magical time we locals call The Stampede. I'll think of this thread when I eat my first 2010 Stampede Breakfast pancake.
  3. I'm referring to the proper definition, which is based on the origin of the title. But, of course, I can't speak to any aberration or misuse of the term in other countries. I don't see the point of using the term Ms. if not to imply that one's marital status is inconsequential - especially in this day and age.
  4. The public votes for the party they want in office. The party votes for who they want as a leader and they can change that leader pretty much at any time (bait and switch?). So, the public can either vote for the party or not vote at all. I think it's a common feeling that we don't really have a say in who leads the country. I imagine that's a similar story in Oz.
  5. I think the same thing happened here in Canada, although it was long ago at a time when I wasn't all that interested in politics (I'm still not, actually). Kim Campbell was our one and only female PM, but that only lasted a matter of days.
  6. Not unlike the title of Mr., Ms. indicates nothing more than the gender of the individual. Gender equality and all that, ya know.
  7. Shouldn't you be out drinking beer and ... oh, I dunno ... sharpening toothpicks for battle or something? Gawd I suck at this. You might be right; we are all jovial, 'polight' and friendly. Have a nice day.
  8. The peg leg, eye patch and annoying parrot on his shoulder makes me think he's not playing.
  9. Well it's not exactly pure, is it. Hopefully the chocolate, raspberry, nuts and coconut flavours don't overwhelm the mellow taste of the 'mallow. Geez. Still, I'm willing to try it. Mail me one of them there ice cream bars, 'kay?
  10. The 3D effect wasn't overdone - it was a subtle addition to the whole experience.
  11. For my part, I haven't seen a change in how threads are marked. However, starting a couple of days ago, I noticed the font on the thread titles has changed from a bold font to regular font for some threads.
  12. Nothing rhymes with Stuka better than 'Look-ya'. And it captures his personality quite well too. I like it.
  13. We didn't. And we didn't like your past Steve either. However, there's still hope for the future.
  14. I got sucked in and wound up watching quite a few skits. Now I want to do the Dew.
  15. They sell stone chip remover in a can? Like, for people who want a weekend DIY project? I've never seen it in the stores here. =(
  16. It was YOU! It was you who changed my password and contact email addy with this place so that when they automatically logged me out today, I couldn't find my way back in. Admit it! It was YOU! Why do you hate me, rleete?
  17. I went to the large grocery store* that carries the frozen, cubed goat meat that I'd briefly looked at before. I took a close look at the package and saw that it's bone-in meat, which I hadn't noticed previously. I have nothing against bones in the meat I eat but when the meat pieces are small (as this is), and especially if it's in a sauce (like the curry I'd had in mind), then I detest picking through my meal to dig out bone. By the way, it priced out at $10CAD for a 1kg bag. I didn't buy it. I want to check out the goat meat at the Halal grocery store next. Buffalo (aka bison) is sold in the small market that I frequent. It's very lean so I usually buy it in ground form for burgers, chili, etc. I had more of an appetite for red meat when I was younger but now I eat it probably once a week on average. I don't remember ever making a conscious effort to consume less red meat so I attribute this to a change of taste over the years. I ate kangaroo meat during a visit Downunder a couple of years back. It was quite nice. The restaurant served it in a sauce, so that probably went a long way to helping the meat maintain its moisture. I'd eat it again. *Superstore/Loblaws in Canada
