  1. Nice to hear from you kohlenklau (and everyone else).
  2. A good friend of my father, a veteran of Italy used to sing a song to the tune of 'Lilli Marlene' which went.." We're the D Day Dodgers out in Italy, always on the vino always on a spree....". So history is repeating itself right here on these forums. D Day overshadowing Italy. This is a damned good game. Takes you from the lushness? of north western France to the rugged beauty and heat of dusty Sicily and the freezing cold of the winter Italian mountains. I have spent many happy hours while my poor pixel troopers in greatcoats and gloves slogged their way up snowy or rainy rocky hillsides and now it's sad to see this poor old forum lying here unloved and forgotten, just as Italy was 1943-1945.
  3. You made me feel so sorry for CMFI, I'm going straight over there now and post something.
  4. ....that the announcement of CM Red Thunder seemed to bring about a marked lack of interest, activity and creativity in the forums of Combat Mission Normandy and CMFI?
  5. Thanks Doug. I haven't got around to upgrading yet and I was just wondering what the UI looked like. Yes the option to turn it off/on would be good.
  6. Would anyone who has upgraded be prepared to upload a screenshot of this new display? Thanks in advance.
  7. Beautiful. Great work as usual from Vein!
  8. As a side note, I can recommend Simon Sebag-Montefiores' books on Stalin. Great read.
  9. Yes. I too 'hate' the timer. It's my game I should be able to finish it when I choose and as far as I'm concerned no one will ever convince me that it's a good or necessary feature.
  10. No one can say all the good/bad men were on one side or the other. My old Grandad used to say, "Not all Americans are cowboys and not all Germans are U Boat captains." In the end it just came down to the same old 'common' men of both sides who were fighting because the men who ran their countries at that particular time, told them they had to.
  11. After what the Irish did to us on the Rugby field last Saturday I've got my doubts about that.
  12. Thanks again EZ. Great stuff!
  13. Lots of interesting stuff here.......https://archive.org/index.php
  14. I decided to give all American Paras on D Day a Scrim covered helmet. This made it so simple. Thank you.
  15. C'mon. Crack on lads. Can't wait for this.
