  1. ...well at least I thought it was genius. Here's a screenshot mockup.
  2. There is an empty TAB on the UNIT/FORMATION panel for HQs... Why not use this to list the HQ's associated units C2 status (either in/out of contact with the selected HQ)? Then you could click on an HQ and see immediately who is and isn't in contact (perhaps even illustrating type of contact). Anyone else like this idea?
  3. I have just read in the CMBN manual that the Schrecks and Fausts cannot be fired from inside buildings. Is this based on a real-world limitation or merely a game design restriction? Also, what happened to the Panzerfaust 60s and 100s? (were they not available during the CMBN time period?)
  4. (see image) I really don't think that it's the right time and place for THAT!
  5. Are bullet hole decals also on the agenda?
  6. CMBN is not really a 'perfect score' kind of game. It's not like trying to find all the secrets in Tomb Raider (I know, I know, I'm behind the times). I tend to play each scenario twice (once from each side), and then put it to bed. A mission is only worth revisiting if the designer has purposely implemented a re playability factor into it.
  7. Below is a list of the missions that I have played so far, along with my opinion of their difficulty and my result in WeGo (Elite) mode. How does this compare with other people's experiences of these missions? My Mission Difficulty Rating against AI (* easy| ** moderately easy | *** average | **** hard | ***** very hard) The Road to Berlin (ALLIED) ** (Total Victory) Task Force Raff (ALLIED) Mission 1: * (Total Victory) Mission 2: * (Total Victory) Mission 3: ** (Total Victory) Busting the Bocage (ALLIED): ** (Total Victory) Busting the Bocage (AXIS): **** (Draw) Closing the Pocket (AXIS): *** (Tactical Victory) A Delaying Action (ALLIED): **** (Draw) A Strange Awakening (ALLIED) * (not quite finished yet - but probably Total Victory) Please note: The difficulty rating is in no way a reflection of the quality of the mission. So far I've enjoyed them all. ... I actually haven't lost a mission so far. 2 draws is very close though.
  8. CMBB was undoubtably the most interesting instalment of the previous series. I do hope that BF revisit the Ostfront with the CM2 engine.
  9. I've just been watching a programme about the exploits of the British SAS dropped behind enemy lines in August '44 and I was wondering if the Commonwealth module will include the SAS and their modified jeeps?
  10. Mine arrived today, and in in one piece too - which is surprising considering the way the postman was stuffing through the letterbox. No additional costs incurred either. (I'm in London, UK) Great job BF, nice collectors item. I look forward to filling it with the upcoming expansion DVDs.
  11. I'm not having a gripe - merely opening a topic for discussion. I'm just interested to know if it bothers other players. I've worked in print for a few years, so please understand my eye is easily drawn to this kind of thing. I've only played a couple of missions, and have noticed mistakes in both. An example: From 'A Strange Awakening' - "Adept the current situation an occupy the Railway Station." Admittedly, I suspect that English isn't this designer's first language (apologies if I'm wrong), but - and my query is this - shouldn't someone at BF proofread the briefings before release? On a more helpful note, if any scenario designer (especially any non-native English speaker), wants me to check their copy, I'd be very happy to do so.
  12. Obviously it's not a game breaker - but my personal opinion is that spelling mistakes reflect badly on a product . It could suggest a lack of care and possibly undermine a player's confidence in a scenario designer. Just out of curiosity - did someone at BF check all the briefings before full release? Comments welcome... am I alone in my thinking?
  13. Okay, thanks for the answer. Just wanted to check because my FO has no radio icon.
  14. yes - I was wondering if they were still able to use the radio despite it lying outside the building? See image.
  15. I agree, but then the LOS line should be grey. It is clear to see from the image that some of the squad must have a clear view.
  16. My three man FO team suffered a casualty. The radio operator was shot when they crept into a building. Strangely, I was still able to call for off-map artillery... I'm sure there is an explanation - can anyone help to explain why this is possible?
  17. Aha - here it is. Sadly this is the max size forum allows.
  18. Wel, the screenshot was there but now there seems to be a problem.
  19. Yes... here is the screenshot of the view from my infantry unit. You can clearly see through the building.
  20. Do Rattled troops ever recover from being Rattled?
  21. Does CM2 use LOS based on what you see on the map or is it abstracted? I have noticed that, although I can see clearly through a building which has lost its walls, my troops cannot (not even a grey line). This seems a bit odd, as they should have a clear view.
