Noticed the same thing - somehow the placement of the texture just isn't right. Had this problem before with another mod and just reworked the BMP, though that's maybe not the best solution...
@DEY: I fixed the issue with the MG port cover - if you want, I'll upload a yellow version of the modified Panthers as well.

Fine, only more for me to do... *g* Very nice work here as always!
-
Interesting... would it possible to scan and post a few of them? I only have b/w pictures and the authors of my books seem to have found bicolor camouflage patterns on the tanks, sometimes even tricolor...
This particular tank which will, in fact, be an Initial A will get a tricolor pattern like my sources suggest it had.
But these pictures you talk of would really interest me since I do not own that book you talk of...

I'm back with the living, I think. Might be that I post another W.I.P. today...
-
Point taken. But right now I'm ill so it might take me a little bit longer to finish it...
-
I'm with DavidI - seperate folder would be best. We won't ever get exhausts anywhere near accurate, so this seems to be the best solution to the problem...
-
Okay, I'll try that... I'm quite proud of it so far, but it's never bad to get advice from otzher people - that's why I posted the W.I.P. in the first place!

Here's a little update so you know I'm still on it... doing Zimmerit isn't as easy as I thought.
Turret layer is still missing but will be done in the next few days.
If someone wonders: this pattern was seen on a tank of SS-PzDiv 'Wiking' near Kovel in 1944. I reworked some other features to fit the pictures I have.
More to come...

@MikeyD: It does make sense. Then I'm doing something very similar to your technique... not quite, but nearly.
For the Panther D: There seem to have been a fair number of D models with Zimmerit (and with different patterns, too) - and my sources tell me there might have been still some left at the end of 1944!
Anyway, I think I'll do an early D with Zimmert when I'm done with the Late D/Initial A. It's somehow fascinating me...

Steel wheels? Cool... And I know excactly what you mean whean you talk about bad TV. Okay, there's still my girlfriend complaining about me loving tanks more than her, so it usually takes quite some time when I do something. But what do I talk about...
Another thing: Could you maybe show me how you do Zimmerit? I'm in the painful process of doing it row by row and think there must be a better and faster way. But only if you have the time for it. Thanks.

It's time I finish my first Panther so I can start editing this one. Nice work there!
Do you want my modified road wheels for the Panther G or shall I do that (together with the other modifications) when you release them?
-
Right, it worked better than I had imagined, too. It's still an awful lot of work getting only minor details accurate, so I know why you waited so long to take it on...
By the way, you can use the new road wheels for your next panther mods.
And you know what's funny? I just noticed I made a mistake in the end - wrong number of bolts on the road wheels. That's what happens if you mix different BMP's. Well, it's just a WIP and I'm just starting. Thanks for the feedback!
-
Nice work! Just posted my first WIP on your Late Ausf.D - hope you like it! It's what I'm gonna do to all of your Panthers!
-
So here it is what I like to call my first real 'meta-mod': a Panther Ausf.D Late/Ausf.A Initial Production Series (what it actually is) done with MikeyD's wonderful base art.
Now with correct road wheels, correct engine deck and correct fenders. I recolored it and changed a few minor details. Sadly the polygons aren't very accurate, so I had to cheat sometimes...
Now the only thing left is to find a nice camouflage pattern!

Okay, got the infantry packs. Thanks to both of you. I have searched for the FlakTracks at CMHQ, but haven't found them so far... Well, another search might help.
-
Good Question. Either we try if you can send them via e-mail or you just upload them to CMMODS. I don't think that'll be a problem if you just explain that the packs are missing...
-
Need a little help from you out there... Since my HD crashed recently, I had to reinstall all of my games. Now I only had a very old backup of my BMP folder, so I'm reinstalling all the mods again. Thing is, there are mods missing on CMMODS - or I am too stupid to find 'em. I'd need AndrewTF's 37mmPaK and the complete Grey Flak Pack from Marco Bergmann and Gordon Molek.
Any help would be appreciated.
Update: I'm also in desperate need of AndrewTF's Infantry Packs for Early and Mid-War Heer Infantry.

David I: Actually, I'm doing a Panther Ausf.A Initial Production Series on the Late D polygons. While I'm doing that, I correct an error MikeyD made with the road wheels and do a fwe other things as well...
-
I second that. Although I am already tweaking and improving your Panther mods...
Will post a WIP soon! Would not have happened without your skill and the camo tutorial...
-
Doesn't matter it actually is an initial Ausf.A - that just leaves more Panthers I can do camo patterns on! *g*
Everything looking very good! Keep it up!
-
I hope we'll get a yellow version as well... I have a few ideas for camo patterns I'd like to realize on your base art!
-
Ah well, if you release the Panthers some time in the future, I'm sure enough I can do a few convincing camo patterns...
Thanks to your tutorial I finally get the hang of it!
-
'A man does what he must do.' - A friend once told me. So I am sure you will do what you can and what is best. What you have done until now is more than I anticipated and therefore I'd be the last one to ask anything more from you...
-
It's a mod I have waited for, no matter what. Thanks again!

And the polygons, for that matter, ARE different. it seems as if they worked a few of them over, although they didn't correct all the faults...
Look closely at the front fenders of the early G in BB and at the storage boxes - then you'll see what I mean!
By the way, I repositioned the bow mg art OVER the bump and interestingly it doesn't look very warped... Just check my W.I.P. thread - these screenshots show how it looks.
Maybe this is another issue entirely with the different versions...?
