  1. Hi

Just a quick note/warning about flavor objects:

Unfortunately, Kohlenklau is wrong about mod tagging flavor objects. Unless somehting has changed recently with some upgrade, then flavor objects cannot be mod tagged in the same way as vehicles and other units.

This leads me to the second warning:

If you make and release your own flavor objects you should be aware that their names/numbers might be identical to other edited flavor objects. If you dont take this into account, you'll probably wreak havoc on the maps of players using the previous flavor objects.

    An example:

In my Factory Mod set I have made a flavor object that is meant to resemble a piece of old machinery. This is the "Cart 2" flavor object and is strewn across the factory area of my Bitvagorod map. If you name your windmill "Cart 2" then every player who is using your flavor object and my Factory Mod set will have a factory area in the Bitvagorod map that is strewn with windmills!

Read more about this in this thread:

  2.

New set of files in the Dropbox:

A set of grim/shell shocked/resigned looking german soldiers faces. As Kohlenklau had called for.

One of them was supposed to resemble a european artist. But it seems that I failed to nail down his appearcance accurately enough for him to be recognized.

Hint: Had he been born 40-odd years earlier he could have been one of the guys in Stalingrad.

  3. I usually dont test if my mods are compatible with other CM titles. But I cannot remember a single instance when they were not.

Sometimes it takes a bit of "translation", though. As with transferring my snow mods from CMFI to CMRT: You can use the FI vehicles as they are in RT, but the base colours of the vehicles is plain yellow, instead of the camo schemes of RT. So that needs a bit of "translation" if you want to make it look right. But technically, the bmp's normally works fine when transferred between games.

  4. Yes, the faces will be uploaded to cmmods soon. In fact I already have, but there seems to be some sort of foul up, because they apparently don't recieve my uploads (?) Waiting for comfimation from GreenAsJade.

Regarding the mystery guy, I must have made it too hard. Firstly, I probably haven't made him recognizable enough. Secondly, he is not that well known - especially not to americans, I guess - even though he has claimed to be living there (hint, hint)

I'll try to narrow it down a bit. One of these guys:

  5. Here you go. I hope they are scruffy and bearded enough. I've tried to emphasize a war weary/shell shocked/resigned look

(I've also tried to sneak an actual person in, but I'm not sure if managed to nail him well enough so that anyone will actually be able to recognize him. We'll see)

Will upload as soon as they have been tested and approved by the NoKohlemature ;)

  6. I uploaded one to CMMODS called "Crossing Point Bitvagorod" give it a try.

Really? I'll have to give that a look.

    Thanks both of you:)

    Edit:

Just found it at cmmods - under "scenery". I think you should upload it to The Scenario Depot or The Proving Grounds (if it still needs testing), as more people are likely to find it there, when they look for scenarios.
Also, there is no need to upload my entire mod set with the scenario, because those of us that already have the mod set will have to download all 350 MB's in order to get it.
Looking forward to play it :-)

  7. Thanks guys.

I  will probably not be making any new snow mods for the time being. As you know it is a very time consuming process, and I really dont think I can find the time for it. Especially not, once CMFB has been released ;)

So I'll concentrate on translating - and updating - the snow mods I have already made for CMFI.

Phil: I am not entirely sure I understand what your [frosty] idea is about? Has it got something to do with there being different verisions of the same vehicles? If so, I still prefer to keep the mod tag [snow] on my vehicles - and then let players themselves decide which ones they are going to use. I think adding yet another mod tag to a map/scenario will lead to way too much confusion. There's plenty of that regarding mod tags already, I think.

BTW; I couldn't resist trying to make a quick snow version for the rubble on one of my factory_mods maps. I think it looks quite cool (pun intended):

  8. Thanks! I see You have experience with snowy conditions and are welcomed to make any additions to Winter Mod :)

    I am. :)

I am currently working on translating my CMFI snow mods to CMRT. These are:

    • All the Pz IV´s
    • All the spw 251's
    • All the spw 250's.
    • SdKfz 7
    • All the Tiger I's
    • German uniforms

As you may know, my mods are not winterized vehicles or uniforms, but merely normal equipment sprinkled with a bit of snow - like your SU-122. My vehicle mods are all using Aris' mods as the base layer.

BTW: I'm really impressed with the layout of your preview pics. They look just like pictures on the scale model kit boxes (do you have a template I could use?).

    Here's a preview:
