  1. I would like to know from those of you who are playing, do you want 2 rounds again or should we do 3. It should be clear as to which before we start this thing.
  2. That is correct, no tournament of mine is going to let anyone just play the side they like. It is random draw for your matches to some extent. But I doubt that you could get the Germans like six times in a row. I actually go through and make sure that everyone gets to play offence and defence hopefully about the same amount of times, but no promises there.
  3. For those of you that might be interested but was not in my first Tournament, this is the basics of how it will be run. If interested, please let me know here within a week from now. Starting at the latest Oct. 1st. the tournament will run as thus. It will consist of each player having 3 PBEM matches going on per round. Each would be a different Scenario; turns per scenario will be approx 30 turns. The scoring in this tournament will be awarded by the completed outcome of each scenario. Example, if I was to have 20 participants. That is ten matches in each scenario. (Example) 7 players win playing the German side and 3 win playing the allies. Scoring awarded to the highest winner on the German side would be 5 points, next player 4, and so forth. After these 5 players are given points, then the Best allied player is given 5 points and 4 to the next and so on. So no matter the scenario balance the best 5 players for each side is awarded points. There will also be bonus points awarded if you win and are playing the inferior side in the scenario, this bonus will be determined by the imbalance. Example, 9 win playing as allies, one wins playing Germans, this one winner of the German side will receive 5 points for being the best player on the side but will receive a additional 2 points for winning with the weak force. Also there is bonus points in round two for winning if a low rank player from round one wins someone with a higher ranking from the first round. This would be awarded if they win a better-ranked player by a percentage above the average of all completed matches of that scenario. Round two match ups will also be determined by completed scores of round one. Example the top player from round one will have his 3 matches against, the number 2 player the # 4 player and the # 10 or something similar to that. The scoring system works no matter the balance of the scenario. And will provide even matched players a chance to compete against each other and provide you with competition against all different participants.
  4. It appears I better get some scenarios prepared, I am sure that we can get at least 5 more players given some time. Also I will need a little time to prepare.
  5. If nothing else the addresses are in their profiles here, who is going to gather them together and contact them. I will spend the time to run it if We can get a dozen for sure interested that I would trust to participate.
  6. Prisoners - cannot remember for sure, but it is double the base value of the units, if you take and exit them off a friendly end they are triple. but I am going on memory. Do a search, I know these topics are in the files already. All I can remember on exiting units is that they count as points for you if exited and points against you if left on the board when it is a exit game. I remember it being more complex in the points awarded, it is not just the value of the units.
  7. It does appear cmbo is truly dead on this forum, a sad situation indeed.
  8. Just to see if there is a interest, anyone out there that would be interested in a tourney, I would like to know, just respond here. If you want to know how it would be run, see "From out of the dust Tourney" in the files. it would be two or three rounds with 3 games to play each round, you will have 2 months max. for each round. The games will be approx. 30 turn battles.
  9. Also if you need a battle and some sad tales to tell I will be happy to play you some scenarios if nothing else comes about.
  10. Yes, the same point value for purchasing is used for victory calculations. So the value of killed units is worth the same as if they were purchased. Example, the German has lost 400 points in units in battle, the American 300. Also the German holds one large flag, the other flags are neutral. The game will give the American 400 points for the kills he has archived, the German will receive only 300 but also 300 for the flag. So the German has 600 points, the American 400. the game will tell the score by showing it as a 60% to 40% victory for the German. The flag issue is more complex and sometimes does not seem to follow its own rules. But normally to win a flag you must either be the only side present in its zone and have the enemy at a distance outside of it or sometimes you can win it if both sides are close but I think it has to do with quantities and range, but I would look for others comments on this in the files because I am not sure on the flag issue.
  11. I thought about it but if I had, it would have been in CMBB this time, not CMBO. I would like to do it again but time is a factor. Plus with the new games about to be released it will likely impact game play by some for awhile. I know if I host one it will be in CMBB this time. It would be interesting to find out how many would be interested in a CMBO tourney, if there was enough interest, Maybe CMBO-"from out of the Dust tourney II" could happen - wait what am I saying.
  12. In the later versions of the game, a large flag is 300 and a small one is 100 points, I have used them values in what CMBO does, but I have not verified that. So if you are going to lose a 200 point tank to neutralize a large flag on the last turn and you lose it. It is not a good move since nuetralizing it would only swing the game points 150 and you lost 200 to do it. If that makes sence.
  13. I see you can relate, I might feel good about losing 9 HT's, compared to 3 Shermans. I can only remember once ever having a plane kill two tanks and that was just a perfect bomb drop.
  14. It was one on the Disk "The Creek" first time playing it head to head.
  15. It was 43 in Italy, that helps explain the results, but still at least 4 times better than any plane has ever hurt me before. My mortar HT's was my fault for how I had them, but who would of thought I would loose both of my AA trucks on the first pass. It was one attack I am sure to remember.
  16. I normally do not get too concerned about planes in a CM battles, they are wild cards with how they will affect the battle and normally the impact is manageable. I wanted to share this account though because this is the first time I can remember having been smacked on the side of the head with the affects of just one plane. Also I would like to hear the stories of others with their tales of horror from enemy planes. My story is of a battle plan that functioned perfect except for the fact that a flyboy from England flying a spitfire did so much damage to my forces in the first turns that I was never able to recover that much damage on the enemy. First staffing run he managed to take out both of my Sd kfz flak vehicles and an spw 251/9 stummel HT with the 75mm Gun. This to my surprise since I thought I had good spacing between them. With my anti-air units gone now, could things get worse? Second run lost me only an spw 251/1, I could live with that. Third Run, Oh no he has spotted my cluster of 4 spw 251/2 81mm mortar halftracks all tightly tuck together behind the woods with a leader spotting for them as onboard indirect fire. The guns of the plane blaze and in true hero fashion he manages to take out all four HT’s. Crews running for cover, can you blame them with what this pilot is doing with only MG’s The final and forth pass was just a little insult to injury by taking out another a spw 251/9 stummel HT, thus losing most of my HT support fire units. I can see that flyboy back at the pub that night just talking about his exploits to his fellow comrades. A hero born. I manage to run the enemy off the board, take my objective and do so without losing any of my Pz IV tank platoon, So even though I manage to still dominate the ground war and control the Battle, the enemy had cost me dearly in units by that one single plane, It said a draw but It was 54% to 46% to my foes advantage and I knew I had truly been beat for the first time by one man with nothing more than machine guns blazing for the first and hopefully the only time ever. Oh well
  17. If you have not figured it out, my spelling matches my IQ, not very good, just check some of my post. Of course my poor typing skills also add to some of the errors in my post. This could also explain the reason for being in the Marines to begin with but it might be best to leave that subject alone.
  18. I loved it, but it had its day. First to steal me away from it was the close combat series, then cm. I can tell Tow will be likely the next, then maybe CMII. But why would I go back when maps are never wrecked, players are not hard to find and fighting over rules are for fools. ASL, sell it while the money is good, for soon it will die with the Generation that grew up on it. I am part of that Generation, let me tell you between the eye sight and memory, ASL would not be enjoyable much longer.
  19. Best war movie ever made. I would say to most movie viewers, the first scenes turned their stomachs and brought some type of emotion the first time they saw the movie.Just as the director wanted. Just as some have pointed out here, there were people that did not find that movie good, they found themselves walking out from the movie. For some they have no history or events to relate it to in their lives, but they left. For others it brought back memories of friends they left there that day. There does not need to be a reason as to not expect all of mankind to require detailed graphics to have a entertaining expearence.
  20. The 7 post really do not matter, I was just trying to say it was not very important to find out about me. 8 years in the corp, 7 years as a sniper. As for the others feeling about why I have commented, you can beleive what you want, have the level of graphics you want and so forth. I can accept the games at any level, it does not bother me in the least. I just want you to question yourselves as to what level of detail you really think you need. Its just a game, how close does it need to mimick life.
  21. The best thing about ASL was selling it on line and getting all my money back and some. Having the expearence of playing it for many years with much enjoyment. But I have moved on to better things and continue to beleive that the computer games will continue to push the level of wargaming to new levels. I am thankful for those at CM that have kept that vision.
  22. This is what I was after all along, most people do not want to see it in real life, or be a part of killing someone in real life. So why is it that you need it so graphically displayed in a game. The game designer will pick a level they feel confortable with. The problem is, request for this stuff in games will continue to give designers the feeling that the more morbid the better. War games will in the future lower themselves to a point that will have nothing to do with entertainment. I just dont think we need to push it along.
  23. I am surprised, no one wants me to email the footage.
  24. You have only 7 post and this is a question you want to know. I served in the United States Marines, sniper Units are trained for each division, which the marines only had three at the time. The answer I can give is that my unit actually found themselves serving in detachments of each division (not just the one we were on paper for). So in otherwords that is a complicated thing to explain that really had nothing much to do with what I did, just look at it this way. A General has units requesting sniper support, he calls in a request and our commander sends a few guys he feels can do the job that is needed to the unit if the request is approved.
