  1. I've been enjoying the info on SC2 here - so back to the point! Any other great new or improved features you can share about the game?
  2. Thanks Wicky I've used Kittel for years and had no idea at all that he was involved with the Nazi's! I thought he lived before then! Wow!
  3. Okay - I took the plunge and pre-ordered too. Why would they make limited copies of this game? If it's anywhere as good as it seems it'll be a classic and ought to see quite well.
  4. Whoa! After trying to read that and failing to understand almost all of it I am reminded again there are so many reasons I'm NO programmer!! Go Hubert!!
  5. Okay - I concede - you have a good point there! When SC2 comes out maybe someone will make a mod of it - that would be fun!
  6. Interesting scenario - an idea that's discussed often about how a saner Germany would have been able to more successfully fight the war. True as far as it goes - but I do have one major problem with it and it's this: Why would a saner Germany have started the war in the first place? It's not like they had any real reasons to go to war. So if we'd had a saner Germany we would have probably ended up being their allies again Russia than what actually happened. That might make an interesting scenario.
  7. Hey Rambo, I know and understand what you are saying. I'm just saying that if you do that then there's no logical reason not to include Concentration Camp is there? And I don't think anyone really wants to go there, so I'd just prefer to leave all that alone and concentrate on the strategic issues of the war, which is what SC 1 or 2 is all about right?
  8. I agree - don't put it in. Because if you do then it would seem to me that you'd be logically compelled to put concentration camps in as well. Points given for liberating them, and for the German player, points given for holding them longer so you could murder more people? No thanks! I realize that in reality that's the effect the German Army had by holding off the Allies for as long as they did. But that's not something I want to put into a game. I suppose you could argue we ought too as a reminder of the evil of the Nazi regime - but I don't think it deserves to be trivialized in a game.
  9. If you are thinking of including Goering then why not Himmler? After all he commanded an army in 1945 - and did a lousy job of it! You could say he hastened the Russian victory in '45 - even tho it was a foregone conclusion. And of course if you follow your logic for Goering then you'd have to include Hitler, certainally everyone would agree he had more influence on battles than Goering did wouldn't they? (I'm going to regret asking that question aren't I?) Obviously SC only includes a sampling of commanders, not every one and not even every important one - you can check out the discussion about certain Russian leaders in other threads. And yep - Kuni is right - for those wanting to clutter up the game with every commander and leader you think is important, there's always the editor!
  10. GREAT idea!! It would solve many of the unhistorical things that happen in SC1 when you have Russian and Western Allied units fighting side by side etc. I also love the idea of the Russian AI being able to turn on the West at the end, very cool to not know what's about to happen, very historical. As to the AI being "easily beatable," well maybe - but some of us are still having trouble with that!!
  11. And I agree - as I would imagine just about everyone would! I hate to wait, but would rather wait for something first rate, than become irate because of a rushed release date!
  12. Too true - Hubert comes across as a real person who's very concerned not only with his game and income, but with what we're thinking. Very cool!
  13. Oh man! Actually I'm not that optimistic - I just check the site 10 times a day hoping for another AAR! Yes, I'm afraid I just might have to go into recovery for this too! *sigh!*
  14. I checked out the link too - very good - but did you notice that Burma (now called Myanmar) isnt listed? I checked under both names and didn't see it. Very strange as the war in Burma was long and bloody. I've been there twice and have some good friends there, so that's why I'm interested.
  15. Yes, thanks Blashy! This looks great - more subtle with a lot more options all around! It's going to be hard going back to SC1 after seeing all this cool stuff! I can't wait!!!!!!!
  16. If I remember correctly both Tactics II and Blitzkrieg were AH - I know Blitz was, used to play it a lot - SPI put out a huge mod for that game early in S&T's history. I made up my own mod based on what I read about SPI's with neutral forces, alliances, etc. It was fun - and yes SC1 at least reminds me a lot of parts of Blitzkrieg.
  17. Sounds good to me! I am a pretty much a new comer to the SC community, but I've worked in the past as a playtester on several different games with Wild Bill Wilder. On our team were players of different levels of experience, knowledge and gaming ability. I believe that really helped us and the designers to put together a much better product in the end. Who better than Hubert to know what SC2 needs? Let's not distract him from his work, that way we'll get the game quicker, which is what we all want anyway right?
  18. Thanks Shaka - I stole that one from the late Dr. Walter Martin - one of my favorite teachers. Actually, since I use a lot of this lines, it's not stealing, it's research!!
  19. Of course everyone has a right to their opinion and to express it. I've read a lot here that's true and a lot that isn't, which is probably par for the course. My vote - close this thread and let's move on. I see a lot of heat being generated but precious little light!
  20. I had them all. YOu could pretty much do the Russian Campaign, etc as well. Lots of fun for the mod makers out there!
