  1. Your right Panzer76, sorry about that I was thinking about the hungarians as I was writing that stuff and I wanted to comment on how dissappointed I was that there isn't any HC ammo for the Turan2 tank in the game ,though offically there doesn't seem to be any of this ammo type issued for the 75mm guns. It would've added so much to the game to be able to have it for those AFV's even if it wasn't recorded as being used. There is no way you can convince me that the hungarians didn't wheel and deal with german units to get some of that ammo. As far as I can see even for the gremans that this type of ammo was only issued to artillery units for self defence, it wasn't considered as an offensive type of ammo. I also read accounts of Romanian armor units having HC ammo in their Pz4's in 1944, killing JS2 tanks.
  2. I doubt if this is the reason for the above statement but I'm begining to wonder if the germans weren't somewhat more efficient in the development of munitions propellant then other countries. I would think that a longer barreled gun would only be part of the equation of a gun's penetration abilities.
  3. 3.7 cm & 5 cm Stielgranate A modification for the 3.7 cm PaK 35/36 and 5 cm PaK 38, using the 15 cm Igr. 39 Hl/A artillery shell H.C. warhead. The oversized warhead had a stick attached to it which could be inserted into the PaK barrel. A blank cartridge was used to fire the device. Tail fins stabilized the warhead in flight, but it was not a very accurate weapon beyond 200 meters range. If a hit was achieved, the device proved successful even against KV-1 heavy tanks. Reloading had to be done by a courageous crew member walking around the gun shield, and exposing himself to enemy fire while he inserted another stick grenade into the muzzle. In effect, this was a one-shot ambush weapon, very difficult to conceal after it had fired. Hungarian Nimrod AA/AT vehicles fired these rounds from their 37 mm Bofors gun. Also I found this out about the Hungarian Nimrod. Main armament of 40.M Nimrod self-propelled armoured autocannon. The vehicle was an Hungarian modification of the Swedish Landsverk L-62 (LVKV 40 Anti) which had many basic parts in common with the shorter L-60 light tank. The Nimrod was taken into the Honvedseg (Hungarian Army) as a tank-destroyer, but it proved inadequate against Soviet T-34 tanks. The situation improved when new 43.M ammunition was introduced or when 42.M Kerngranate hollow-charge rounds were fired from the vehicle. Kerngranate was a 15 cm Igr. 39 Hl/A artillery shell H.C. warhead mounted on a fin-stabilized tube. The round had to be inserted into the barrel manually, from the front, and it was fired with a blank cartridge very much like a rifle grenade. It appears that the germans didn't make Heat shells for guns in any smaller calibre then 75mm or any larger then 105mm for that matter. Though I have seen claims by allied pilots, russian I think, that they had heat ammo for their planes cannons.
  4. I can't recall ever seeing this AFV before, it must not have been produced in any significant numbers 3,7cm PaK auf STZ 3 ® Komsomolets There are several more strange German AFV's at this site. Strange German AFV's I also came across this site earlier today. German AFV Field Reports
  5. They did eventually find two other ways of killing T34's with that gun, one was to fire HC ammo outa it and secondly to put the gun on stuka's to fire into the top of the tanks.
  6. Thank you for the offer, but I was able to build the tank from what would unzip and the russian versions. I guess there is something going on there that the version of winzip I'm using doesn't like. Is there a freeware version of winrar around somewhere, the last I tried it I could only find trialware that timed out after a certain amount of days.
  7. They look great on the ground Pat, thanks for the hard work and effort. Though I do have one minor beef, I wish you would have included an #58301 bmp without that flag. Great stuff.
  8. Hi mchlstrt, It appears that anything in that Rom T-26S folder is corrupted in regards to windows being able to see it, at least it is for me, I downloaded it four times. I had no problem with all the rest of the versions, using the same version of winzip. I was able to build the tank from the option folder and the russian versions. Maybe try compressing the file again and getting someone with windows to test it. Though maybe it's only me that had that problem.
  9. Thanks for the kind words J2D, Pat, they are appreciated. Least wise, I know that at least two people are likely going keep these in their bmp folder .
  10. I hope these are worthy of Andrew's great art work. I've redone the gelb version somewhat, I toned down the white on some parts of the gun, painted the shield brace and cleaned up the wheels. I sure hope ya do somemore AFV's and Guns Andrew, thanks for all you've done up till now.
  11. Hi Jat, There seems to be a screw up with the whitewashed gun shields for the grey HT's, they seem to be in the grey whitewashed GUN package. The bmp number for the 251/10 is #63753 and the 250/10 is #63713. As stated these bmps are in Gordens WW gun packs at the same site. I very much suggest that you download all those packs and install them, for a good starting point in winterizing your game.
  12. I think you should check again pat, with winzip the Rom T-26S folder is empty after extraction, it seems that way for me anyhow!. I'm glad you like the mods j2d, I'd like to try to do more in depth stuff, maybe in the near future.
  13. Is it just me or is that zip for the Romanian version corrupted, I downloaded it two times and both attempts the file seems to be indeed corrupt and I can't access anything in it other then the screen cap and the text file. The other ones look great though, thanks for the hard work and effort mchlstrt, I hope ya have a go at some other stuff also.
  14. There are two permanent bmp set slots for almost everything in the combat mission games, one set for a summer look and one for winter. The game ships with all the summer effect look already filled by battlefront, but for say the AFV's and uniforms the game starts out of the box with these slots empty for the winter effective appearance. When you start a battle the game engine checks to see what ground condition is being used, if the ground has snow on it, then the game engine will first check the winter bmp slots for all the units, which is a higher number then the summer bmp set, for cmbo a 1 was added to the the number so say a summer number set would be 3400-3422, the winter set would be 13400-13422. In cmbb for the most part 50000 is added to the summer number set to get the winter nimber set, so say a summer set numbered 3400-3422 would be 53400-53422. If the game engine can't find any of the higher winter bmp sets for anything then it reverts to and loads the lower summer bmp sets.
  15. I have a battle over to the SD, DEY-Op Konrad 2 E1, this battle involves the german 2nd attempt to break through and relieve Budapest in jan/45, so it's a winter battle. I have several of the late model brum's in it to help clear and destroy a village. I'm sorry the briefings are pretty bad, as soon as keith has his new site version going at the scenario depot, I plan on fixing the battles I have there in several regards. For the germans you start out with a small recce force but the german main battle units will show up through out the battle, and it's a sizeable force to say the least, but I took great pains to make the battle easy to manage. *A hint, my intention is for you to flatten the village. I've also recently posted a whitewashed version of that brummbar over to cmmods. Hope ya give it a look and it was fun for ya.
  16. I suggest you download Gorden Moleks cmmos HT packs from here, GEM HT packs The grey versions are on page 2. Just extract the contents into a working folder, then delete everything but the numbers. Then rework the numbers by croping off the _ww off the end each one and move these reworked numbers into your bmp folder. This should give you all the half-tracks in a whitewash but the 250-11. Afterwards you can reinstall all the newer versions you have, but at the very least you will have 99% of the HT's in some form of a winterized look.
  17. Hi J2D, Tooz I glad ya like the StugIV. Actually Tooz whitewashing is no picnic either, a lot of cases you just end up brighting up the base colour, instead of covering it over with a white coating. Tooz If you have Gorden Moleks whitewashed packs that PzIIIm is in there. Look in the packs for number set 162260-162279 for the earlier model or 57260-57279 for the late-war model. Just crop off the _ww off the end of the number and move the numbers into your bmp folder. Your right about that SPW 250/11, the grau and gelb versions seem to be badly lacking for a winterized look.
  18. I've just about finished, what I think is a better looking version for that late-war Brummbar. I also would like to do something better with the grau flaktrack pack plus that hertzer. I also plan on having a go at a WW version of the stugIV's. But the trial version of this graphic software runs out in a couple of weeks, so I'll see what I can do until it times out.
  19. Hi All, Ya likely have seen them by now but since it's slow I thought I'd pass this on. I've redone the Late, Mid-war whitewashed tigers and had a go at a light WW on the Early tiger from the cmak demo. I've also uploaded a newer version of the gelb flaktrack pack, several days ago. Hope they're useful to someone.
  20. I'm sorry Andrew, I wasn't sure whether you may have posted with the wrong bump. I know in my amateur attempts to mod stuff, this has happened to me on more then one occasion. I sure hope you will tackle some more guns and AFV's, because they rock. Also thanks for all those wonderful uniforms.
  21. I just setup a fresh bmp folder and with it I see the original howitzer's are indeed grey, so somehow or other in my main playing bmp folder I'm getting camo'ed dunkelgelb howitzers showing up before 1943, thats odd. I musta renumbered the better looking higher res yellow ones for the earlier time period, and forgot. Before I forget this also, when I was whitewashing the 150mm IG, I noticed that there is a minor alignment problem with bmp number 104249, those bolt heads or maybe they're rivets, well anyhow they seem to be place to high on the template. I wasn't sure if you was aware of this or not. Again thanks for all your hard work and effort.
  22. Man it's great that your intent on redrawing the artwork. I hope you do an updated version of the whole bloody thing. I suppose we could let ya have the weekends off. Thanks for all the hard work and effort Mike.
  23. Hi Andrew, I'm glad you like the whitewash, I've got it posted but I think I may try to polish it a little more yet. I have a sorta comment and question, I've just noticed that the grau version has the wheels and shield brace shared with those camo'ed howitzer's, that blue color does sorta clash with that gelb based camo scheme, do you think you could rework those two parts, with some kinda neutral color that could work with both base colors. I hope ya keep on redrawing AFV's and guns, thanks for your hard work and effort.
  24. I had a go at the dunkelgelb based one so far, I hope it does at least minimum justice to your great artwork.
  25. Holi cow thats a week before the CM:BO patch is released.
