  1. Squad Battles by HPS. I'm sure you've heard of them. Great selection of games and time periods. The series is slowly improving all the time. Best played PBEM, but still fun against the AI. [Commercial links removed by Battlefront.com]
  2. I was quite sceptical for a long time with regards to CMSF. I loved the previous games and always wished the infantry was 1:1. However the bad reports after the initial release plus I wasn't keen on the setting nor time of the conflict. However I watched the winning video of the competition recently and was impressed with what I saw. So I bought the game. I'm extremely pleased with the gaming experience so much so I bought the marines module. Yes I can see things aren't perfect but its only a game which overall is great fun to play. The lack of formation issue is I admit a little annoying due to the bunching up but hey I just see it as a little combat chaos. My other gripe is the one sided battle, but with clever scenario design this can be retified. Also from the sounds of it the British module may even things up a little. Anyway CMSF has far exceeded my expectations and I feel battlefront deserve a good round of applause for making a game that far exceeds any other RTS venture out there (I do play WEGO more but its just RTS with a pause function isn't it?). The only other squad based game that I enjoy is turn based and is way more abstracted than CMSF. I'm going to break the mould and not be a "wargame moaner" and say well done Battlefront and keep up the work can't wait for CM Normandy.
  3. When will the patch be released? Thanks
  4. Excellent idea. If it happens once eevry blue moon that would be great. Something to watch out for and get a real buzz when it happens.
  5. the link to Scipios flames doesn't seem to work when I try to download it.
  6. Hey Im not asking for men to fly around after a grenade has gone off. Maybe when they are close to a heavy arty round or a 500lb bomb. As for the getting shot animation I'd like to see a few more variations, not necessarly getting knocked of their feet. Also it is hard to distinguish at first glance whether your men are cowering or have been shot. The postures are very similar. Wounded good actually lift an arm or something or show some kind of life as they call for a medic maybe. Its all chrome I know but will add to the immersion factor quite abit. FInally (sorry Im going to shout here) BRING BACK THE ABILITY TO REVIEW THE UNITS DURING AND AT THE END OF THE GAME 'ALA' CMBO CMBB AND CMAK. Seeing how well a unit performed was a great touch in those games.
  7. First off after delaying buying the game until last month mainly because of the area of operations I have had an excellent gaming experience. I love the infantry combat. Something like this is what I wished for in the older games. Its a shame the game needed a fair few patches as I believe the game is far superior to when it was first released. I really am impressed with the game engine and am itching for the release of CM Normandy. I hope the infantry combat side of the game gets further improvements as the new patches arrive. I'd love to see formations added in the future. I also love the new hunt animation. Finally maybe Im a little sick but how about some extra death and wounded animations. An option for blood maybe? How about when infantry are near a large explosion they get blown of the feet. Also I'd like to see concussion\dazed so the said soldier takes a few minutes to get his bearings. Close Combat had some great morale and other chrome features. Not sure if gun jams are in the game, if not would be good to see aswell. Finally I'd love to be able to review each unit at the end of game ala CMBB and CMAK. That is one aspect of immersion I sorely miss. Keep up the superb work chaps.
  8. I really enjoy the infantry experience far more than I did with the older games. Hopefully things like formation my be added at a later date. At the moment I still view the game as if the infantry are still abstracted. This works for me and stops me getting frustrated.
  9. Im loving CMSF and the Marine module so far. The best tactical game made so far. Infantry combat is a dream to play and watch. Anyway after playing the Trench scenario and my extensive knowledge of WW1 I really do believe this engine would make a cracking WW1 game. The Somme, all three Ypres battles, verdun...the list goes on. The game engine is perfect to recreate them battles as well as trench raids etc.
  10. To other recent RTS games? Specifically with regards to micro management. I just cant play realtime games that turn into a click fest, to fast, to many units, and to much hand holding with each unit needed.. I loved the Close Combat games as the pace was perfect, also it is a hell of alot easier assessing the game when its top down 2D view. All the other games (except the airborne series by panther games, but that's a different scale) drive me insane. I tried the demo at half speed which seemed OK. So if anyone is like me and has bought the game how did you find it?
  11. I'd like to review the units at the end of the battle to see how many kills each unit got. Loved the feature in CMBB and CMAK. Any chance of a return?
  12. With the release of these two modules is that the end for CMSF? If so don't you think the game is allied heavy with the same old Syrian opposition? No chance of a different enemy to take on?
  13. Elvis thanks for the link. Kosta (My middle name is costa) I have the paradox version. Ive found out the campaign was in an early patch. Trouble is Ive already patched up straight to the latest version which doesnt have the campaign. Never mind.
  14. Thanks Birdstrike. I shall nip over to CMMods. Your work is appreciated. Could you give me a list of your other mods that you are most proud of. Thanks
  15. Hurrah...Finally a game to really look forward to since waiting for CMBB. Thankyou Battlefront. Ive just bought CMSF and though the timeline and area of operations doesnt appeal that much to me, the actual game is superb.
  16. Just bought CMSF and there is only one campaign. The training campaign is missing. Is it available to download anywhere? Played one battle so far and really enjoying it. Also can anyone recommend some user made small battles I can download. Thanks
  17. Just bought the stock CMSF. What mods do you recommend. I watched the winner of the CMSF video contest and loved the skins used on the troops. Thanks
  18. Im not moaning about the game at all. I know a good sim when I see one and this is one of them. Just the setting doesnt appeal to me. I love HPS games Squad Battles but I havent bought all of them because the setting doesnt appeal to me.
  19. When will we see a module that isnt an allied country? Fighting Syrians who I'd imagine arent as well equiped doesnt really appeal. Figthing against the same country or the Americans against the British doesnt feel authentic. As soon as a module for say the Russians is released then I shall purchase.
  20. I constantly go back to CMBB and the CMETO mod. Ive played the CMSF demo and I have to say its not a patch on the old games.
  21. And some squad tactical behaviour would be welcome too. Like squad MGs lying surpressive fire as the rest of the squad assaults, tactical movement using cover with squad mates covering the advance of the others, some coordination when attacking, and that kind of things. It would be great for the player experience so we don't have to micromanage to the absurd, and it would improve AI performance as well, because it currently uses infantry very very bad, like banzai charges. </font>
  22. Forgot that one. Looking forward to the Bulge game.
  23. IL 2 46 Red Orchestra Over Flanders Fields
  24. I'm not sure if I'm right here but I would think the USA would have a massive amount of firepower compared to Syrian terrorists. Or are the USA fighting the Syrian army? If so what weapons\tyanks etc do the Syrians have? Are they supplied by Russia?
