Yes like Homer Simpson making breakfast. Anything you touch catches catastrophic fires.

I'm pretty sure that weapons do jam in CMSF, as I have repeatedly noticed my 40mm Stryker guns (sorry I never know the correct military terms for these things) "inexplicably" ceasing to execute their area fire for anything between 15-90 seconds (also happens when they are attacking spotted targets, but much more rarely because such engagements seldom last more than a few rounds), then resuming to shoot, even though their LOS was not interrupted.
I have found that whenever this happens, the 40mm gun is greyed out on their ammo panel in a darker shade of grey than the ammo they are carrying around for squads to refill from, for the duration of the fire interrupt. I can figure only two possibilities:
1) The weapon is jammed (and the poor gunner working hard to fix the problem )
2) The weapon has overheated from being fired to fast for too long (and the stupid, trigger-happy gunner is frying eggs on the barrel or something)
If the latter, it really should only be happening to very inexperienced crews, which is definitely not the case. Vets and cracks have the same problem. I believe paying attention to your ROF to minimze weapon malfunction is in fact something they teach US soldiers in boot camp, but I might be wrong as I am so often when my lack of military knowledge meets my common sense. There's a lesson there, but I can't quite put my finger on it
Are you sure they weren't just reloading?

If you want to the Javeling, don't forget to tell your guys to pick up the launcher as well.
You can't put stuff back that you acquire, so be careful with that.
And to rejoin a squad you just put them together in the same spot for a while and it will happen automatically.

Sure, I would love to have FOW trenches in CM:Normandy... but would I rather have them than the entirely new QB system? That's the sort of thing we'd have to give up in order to make FOW terrain, and I for one think it would be insane and irresponsible to make such a decision.
Steve
You do realize now, that we expect nothing less than perfection from the new QB system .

But does it run in 1.10?
Which raises another point, will PBEM games started in 1.10 still run in 1.11?
I'd like to know now for the sakes of the games I've got going on at the moment, of course.
I read somewhere that as long as you keep the 1.10 exe file you can keep playing in 1.10 even after the patch. Now get back to my turn

Where can we report broken links?

Now I can barely see what I'm typing here.
I didn't realize you manage to get that many people to buy you a drink.

SF feels and plays like it was designed for RTS, so why not give it a more RTS like interface? His idea about grouping units may not be all that bad in certain circumstances.
I don't know, what is it about SF that find RTS-ee(?). I've never played an RTS that even remotely resembled SF.

Bla bla bla
There, fixed that for you.

I'm waiting for that drink....anyone want to buy an old vet a vodka?
Tough luck old man, it's already the 12th of November here.

He is right about the victory conditions though. I just finished a scenario in the regular campaign where I have seized all the objectives and secured the immediate surroundings. But because there were still enough Red forces hidden away in a corner of the map, the auto-surrender did not kick in. And if I had not clicked the cease-fire button, I would have been forced to wait an hour and a half. Sure I could do a full sweep of the map, but then what's the whole point of having objectives.

I don't think there is adjust target for CAS, not during the initial 7 minutes at least. If this could be change that would be of some help.

Are we all posting here to make Leeo feel silly for starting another thread? Because that's find with me.

What I am curious is why there's a a maximum radius of 400m. Is this a real life thing or a game thing?

In my experience, using area target has the Apache shotgun the general area with rockets and chaingun rounds. It doesn't seem to use missiles against vehicles unless I point target one of them.
I think it might depend on the load out. I've seen helicopter strikes take out several tanks with hellfires using area target.
-
What was the experience of your troops? Did they have any bonuses (+1 morale, etc...)? In my experience that can be the difference between terminator-like killing machines and well ... not-so terminator-like killing machines.
Bad luck on the RPG, but I guess you have to remember that maybe the round didn't hit anything important. Also there are different types of ammo for the RPG, if your guys were using HE rounds than I don't think you can knock out a Bradley.
Agree on the length of the game! But look at it from the bright side, at least you got a fair mix of forces from the QB generator

I'll second that motion!
But seeing as you are from Belgium i'll FIRST that motion and you will be relegated to second. Damned goobernationals.....gotta keep'em in their place.
Don't you live among kangaroos? *Shakes head in disgust*

I think that Eatmeatr adds a bit of zazz to this Thread long absent since the departure of konrad .
How about you add some turns to my inbox heh?

Do experienced Syrians troops use single shot for medium/long range targets? This should improve their accuracy no?
-
If I remember correctly you have to delete the file named 'Combat Mission BB Prefs'. Then when you start the game you will be asked to select the resolution again. Back up the file to be safe though

Drive-by posting!!!

I also noticed in that scenario that the Syrians all have -1 morale modifiers. One of the reasons the break so easily I guess. And I'm guessing that because they don't wear body armour, they're more likely to suffer casualties and morale hits.
Try changing the time of the day, so that spotting and firing accuracy becomes more equal.

Not true - as far as I know, the standard Aimpoint found on many US weapons is a holographic sight, not a scope. Better than Iron, arguable, but still no magic.
But is this the case in the game? Because there is no difference between a US soldier and a Syrian soldier in the game given the same experience level, so it must be the equipment.
Why has concealment changed so much?

Don't forget, if people were shooting at me, I would start to pay real close attention to where those people might be.
