  1. Read both now, and thanks for telling me about them. They both very good and I learned a lot. Like Biderman best, more details there, but I missed maps or at least "sketches" over some situations.
  2. Dou you have an AAR on the saved game? If it's not "finished", then it cant be imported.
  3. From a market perspectiv, the project is more or less obsolete. They must first update CMBB/CMAK to work with modern hardware, next thing should be to upgrade CMBB to CMAK standard and make CMC work with both. I can't belive that this can be a profitable project out of the information we have now. I buy it, but I'm afraide it's not enough ...
  4. Thanks for responding! I'm in now, got suggestion from IE to open up for FTP and port21. Maybee that did the trick!?
  5. ... wrong? Been trying to log in for a couple of days now but always fail. Can't even download a scenario. Is it just me who has that problem?
  6. Wasn't the BT also designed to be able to run on railway tracks?
  7. Can this really be correct? I've run some test and my infantery never discovered any minefield (except D-C).
  8. ... is there any way to give every unit a "quick" cover arc? I think I have seen some command that can do it, but I can only found the "Shift+C" and "Ctrl+C" - works only for one unit at the time? Would bee nice to give it to all units simultaneously in setup phase or in the first minute - they are normally hidden then. [ March 06, 2008, 03:22 PM: Message edited by: Sgt AA ]
  9. There is a v1.13 out. There is some issues with 1.12. The problem with N-S OP.maps/big maps is still not solved. And you need an old NVIDA driver if you use that card.
  10. Played a lot of OP but never realised that it was a bug. Thought that they need a commander for not beeing slow. IIRC they also need to have open hatch, even if they have radio. (?)
  11. Thanks again! JasonC! So was my understanding too, here is a satellit picture: Just wonder if the "targets" (watertower eg) in the board-map at least can be assumed to be on the same side of the railway in reality, as they are on the map?
  12. Thanks again! Since we now are in the vicinity of Ponyri, I have another question. I read about the hard fighting for the railway station and I found some scenarios that (partially)cover the subject, on TPG and B&T. But the autors seems to have different sources for their map-making. I really tried to find a good map for the area but there is not much on the Internet. The best I found was this Do you think it's close to reality and does anyone has an idéa about the scale (the size of a square e g)?
  13. Delite the "Combat Mission BB Prefs" file and restart the game. Choose the settings that matches your screen.
  14. Thanks again! I think I get it, but it seems that I have a hard time to express myself in foreign languages. Since I don't know exactly the specific versions, is probably my best guess made with help of the lowest rarity figurs in the editor. So e g for a scenario design: Short Mk3 J has 30% Mk4 D/E has both 100% Long Mk3 L has 20% Mk4 G/H has both 5% so this is the models, without any further information, I would take my chances on.
  15. Perhaps it's FRAPS or something simular you're looking after? Check this discussion e g: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=23;t=011877#000000
  16. Thanks a lot! About the panzers: I guess best thing, so far, is to go by rarity. Hills: My guess too, but nov I feel more confident. The 0.3 meter maybe works today with GPS-mesuring
  17. In Glantz book he give the number of tanks: 8 Mk III s. 30 Mk III l. 8 Mk IV l. 30 Mk IV s. I'm puzzled about the "s." and "l." Is they for "short" and "long"? And more, what models are we then talking about here? I try my luck with one more: It is often refered to "Hill 195.3" e d. I always thought that "195" was for the height, but what stands the ".3" for?
  18. A little of topic, but my old link to the scenario depot seems to be dead: http://www.dragonlair.net/combatmission/ Can anyone please post the new one? ---------------------------------------- Perhaps you find som interesting/related things about GD on M. Dorosh site: http://members.shaw.ca/grossdeutschland/ Maybe he still have the sceanarios that is mentioned there. [ January 29, 2008, 04:46 AM: Message edited by: Sgt AA ]
  19. Could it be this one? Ukraine 1:100,000 Topographic Maps
  20. "I respect you for still playing this old game..." Chess in an old game too! I hope someome will tell me when a better game than CMBB is made, but until then i will hung on to it. It's like music - time will tell if it's good or bad.
  21. "and KO'ed tanks with one crew member come back for more." That was new to me, but I had once the same experience as "tankibanki". In an OP the gun was abandoned and I left the crew beside it - no treat to them. In the next battle they manned it again. (Once in a lifetime?! )
  22. Thank you all, valuable information. My sources so far was mainly Anthony Beavor and Stephen Walsh. "On October 20th the German 79th Infantry Division was brought forward to take part in the attack on the “Red October” metallurgical works. They, along with the 14 Panzer Division, were tasked with taking the complex on 23rd October" From north to south there was the IR.54, IR.208 and IR.212 that performed the assault. Thanks a lot!
  23. Hi! I recently read some books about the assault on the Red October in the late October. Some writer talks about "a wall of steel" from the german side. Does anyone know anything about how many tanks that was involved in this battle? I only find records of a company StuG. It would be great if you can help me out with what model was represented and do you have any numbers from the russian side too it will be much appriciated.
