CMBO: Finally I discovered a use for Mortar Halftracks
Snorri replied to tar's topic in Combat Mission - Tips and Tricks
thx for your reply, teling me something about cmbo. There`ve been quite some people, kept denying the mortar, specially tracked and armoured once here, are quite a capable weapon.. i wasn`t up to tell, this non-move mortar can fire on "Targetpoints", is a great discovery, everyone is thankful for.., (..since this isn`t written down anywhere...) -
CMBO: Finally I discovered a use for Mortar Halftracks
Snorri replied to tar's topic in Combat Mission - Tips and Tricks
Well at least for cmbb. I realy like my 81mm mortars, being armoured, running like Johnson never got enough drugs to do so, and still follow quick the orders, a local available Hq has for him. ..., so tell me what`s the probl. with halftrack mortars? -
How to create a good russian cities feeling?

How to create a good russian cities feeling?
Snorri replied to Xavier's topic in Combat Mission - Scenario Talk
well i spend som time there, and i would insist(?), that every housing, garden, market, has it`s own wall/fence around, so to make it a little "tower" in the giant sea of disinterest. No, graveyards mustn`t be next to a church, some are quite "central" situated in the open russian country.with a road connect` to each village. But you should search the web for russian-travel pages, with links to "museen(?)", e.g., get pics of the place. and also remind, alot of "cultural" grown stuff was destroyed while the war lasted through the years, which wasn`t rebuild by the commi-sys.. -
no complains bout the scope/K98.. it had a heavy punch, even on longer distance. and for it`s time-line-companions was a very accurate one too. (no?) question: how where sharpshooters deployed, wasn`t there one per `infantrie-companie? (i mean early war (41/42) in particular..

Fictious German "Mot. Recon" in CDV-version?
Snorri replied to Schoerner's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
yes, "PzAufklärer" is fine!, i mean the tipping in the patch is set by how many letter are usable. Kradschützen,KradSchützen - > KradS ; no: Krad-Schützen,Krad Schützen, Krad_Schützen(unmili.no?) best: AAbt. - > Aufklärer Gruppe (like normal..Inf.-settings) prefer: PzA Abt. -> PzAufklärer or PzA Infantrie, i think Panzer-Aufklärer..writting it out looks cdv-unmilitaric..no? beside: is Maschinengewehr possible? well MaschineGewehr is unmilitaric/ungerman spelling, too. If it`s to long..i prefer the short-form: Mg, with an l,s in front. -

Snorri replied to Schoerner's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
if you haveno time, schroener.. MECHANIZED-categorie/army type ..all buyable aufklärer/recon ARE Kradschützen till 42/43, with little or NO apperance in 44. Kradschützen are "Dragoon"-cavalry, to get the right milit.-historic image.. -
Fictious German "Mot. Recon" in CDV-version?
Snorri replied to Schoerner's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
the german machine gun trouble is somewhat a joke. well i`m quite sure this is so, because of the cm-engine, which has to be a bit "generall". All armies in wwII, and also today use light, carry-able machine guns, as well as real heavy once.. BUT the "real" difference between a german light and a heavy MG is the tripod.. AND NOTHING ELSE. all rumors are bla-bla. you but a "tripod" below your beloved mg-42, and have some belts run free, with quite some accurance. the german mg are fast, super-repeat.. not HEAVY, in concern of bigger calibre.. -
Fictious German "Mot. Recon" in CDV-version?
Snorri replied to Schoerner's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Kradschützen... there was a batallion along EACH german Panzer Div., as well as the Infantrie-parts of the PzDiv`s own Recon-Batallion; (normally of companie-size) Aufklärungs-Abteilung were called Kradschützen... the Kradschützen, therefor are somewhat "light-mobile-infantrie", used fo various issues. Those of Recon, flank-secure, quick ahead-missions,etc. Their "sign" was the Krad, a war-moped/motorcycle, if you like. but use for transport all they could, all there was..Kübelwagen, ride tank, whatever... The Kradschützen, see themselves, and they sure are, closely related to the cavalry-part of the army. actually the Kradschützen-Idea is somewhat of the "Dragoon" in Napoleonic/later times, rifled-cavalry. As you sure know, the panzer-divisions miracle were the availability of all "differet" army parts, at one spot. part was infantrie, part was artillery, part was tank, and yes the cavalry is there too..as it will be in 43/44(!), the last KradS-Batallions became part of the new-formed "greater" recon batallions.. the AA, aufklärungs-abteilung [as another example the Kradschützen companies of the 16thPz Div were all simply but together, to from a "5"company sized KradSBatallion(in may42), which then along with the "slow" PanzerSchützen/PzGrenadier change in german military, renamed this partcullar batallion as "Aufklärungs-Abteilung"] -

well i havn`t rea all too closely, hope none has mentioned yet, what i tipe here: heh, this won`t solve (solve may only the engine, do) the problem itself.. but thinkabout: a projectille runs the air, directed at this nasty little TURRET(?)/partiall guns, troubling your own forces. well, the bullet misses the turret, damn, but not much, it just sliped over the "crest", and so, crushes right into the tank`s deck, er, ceiling, the place the driver sits, or not far more rear, into the maschinery-complex.. this supposed to call a: "upper-hull-hit" too, no? ..cm ain`t perfect, but getting close to it..

"Un-hittable Gun" Game Bug?
Snorri replied to RoughRoad's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
heh, it ain`t a f+#k -bug. It`s a absolet/absolut important (if not even essential) point for an AT-Gun crew to figure out such positions.. what i suggest a "bug-in far meaning", is the point your heavy arti/tank-fire cannot "lower" a hill-top after some time n` "constant" pressure.. what turned out to be a bug, was me, as i saw myself i the position of a really-"stupid"-officer telling his men to carry on with "dumping ammo", without concern about the last-minute`s results... -
oh, yes please....

"Unarmed" infantry at end game? Huh?
Snorri replied to Bone_Vulture's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
you capture enemies?.. i mean, and keep them? -
well i forgot which night it was, i figured out, you use left-mouse click, holding, to make the "lighted" box, to form a group, right? then, but you have to aim carefully, or better be close, with a "slight" left-click,but be sure you really hit the model, you can switch between the unit, used as center-point. I had the problem, as i thought the mouse would point at the unit(spec.Inf)but tended to be the ground/space between them.To give the Group-move order i generally use the space bar. slap me if this only works fine with cdv-german-cmbb...

Your most LOVED and your most HATED tank
Snorri replied to Finnish solider's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
most sympathy: Panther , moves swift, lookes nice, n`sure uses it`s "small(later)" 75mm effectiv. most loved: while, i tend to the StuGs-familiy, esp. the StuG IV, depending on it`s model.(thx to patch 1.02) most hated: elephant/ferdinand.. n` no question why! there are too many things to mention.. anyway, with each "gorgeous" mod, gamin` turns out fun..even with "less-effectiv" auxillary forces! -
well, in germany some people tend to call the IL-2, "Scheiß!-Schlachtflieger",.. but the result you saw after battle, is one of the best heard sofar..cmbb-Il-2s don`t drop such havoc from above, in/at/as daily routine..
