  1. All right! Congratulations Jung! thinking about the prize...
  2. Sorry couldn´t make it, multiple real world events kept me from joining
  3. fun games on sunday! I now have a better plan for that map where we suffered defeat, 152. Course we had our revenge on dead gulch, and what sweet revenge it was!
  4. technically, yes. I only realized now that GMT has no summer time. I suggest we play at 19:00 GMT, which is 20.00 BST (british simmer time) which is 21:00 German Mean Time
  5. Sorry bout the *****in and moaning on Raid, but the bots were incorrigible. But I won´t dwell on that...(eyes the row of little bot-dolls with needles in them) House to house was a damn close game.
  6. Just a note to say, I´ll be online today at the usual time.
  7. Wednesday 20:00 Zulu time, I´ll be there (I might be 15min late depending on the vagaries of getting my little daughter to sleep )
  8. Don´t despair, I´m also GMT+1. Poesel is too, although I know he dislikes 1on1 games. Now if we had 1 more euro player... anyhow, I can´t promise any specific day, but usually I should be able to play Mo-Thursday starting 21:30, if you tell me in advance.
  9. notepad works fine. quickest possible scenario making guide (windows): 1- create and edit a heightmap using terragen(free) (the map has to be 253x253 or 513 x 513). Larger files are possible, but will be real hardware hogs. export as intel 16bit .raw file 2- create a base texture. my fast and dirty trick: open the raw file with irfanview (with addons installed ->all free), expand and save as a 2048x2048 .jpg file 3- rename an existing scenario, replace the heightmap and base texture with yours and play around with that. This way there´s no need to make your own skybox textures etc. while you figure out all the other stuff. The whole mask business for roads etc.is over my head.
  10. I did a small LAN testrun. The setup is as follows: 2 PCS behind a router. I ran the a basic vanilla dedicated server (on Linux in this case, but that should be irrelevant) on 1 PC as described in the manual. I joined the server from the other PC by using the direct join key or whatever its called (not from the server list) and entering the LAN IP address (somethink like 192.168.1.somefink) of the server PC. I experienced one server crash (segmentation fault), but after restarting it was stable. Pretty easy, huh?
  11. I think it helps if you´ve read the book to know what´s going on. I think the TV series doesn´t reflect the stimulant/sleep deprivation/combat stress induced mood swings the marines go through as well as the book.
  12. 152, the files have to be in a folder. The name of that folder should be choosable under mods. sometimes it helps to choose a mod and then restart. If a mod is active it should be obvious from the mod menu. if its till shows base, it isn´t active.
  13. some units are work in progess, with missing textures etc.
  14. One important thing: 3- AFAIK all PCs in your LAN need to be connected to the internet for authentication. 1- You can install on 2 computers per license, but I´m not entirely sure that allows 2 different players to play. I have 2 PCs on at home, I can check this in about 10h from now if thats fast enough 2- creature zoo 7 was unstable when played online, it might be useful to also try creaturte zoo 6. Good luck! and please share your experience with the LAN here!
  15. er, um, must of clicked the wrong bookmark or somefink my turret wisdom: http://dropteam.johalla.de/moin.cgi/Ground_Turret just thought of a good name for a DropTeam clan: Demolition Vintage
  16. Yes, new geneva space convention is definitely 100% Jung! As for real (!) DT ancients, I only joined after 1.00, never played the beta demo. I believe Jung and Poesel are of beta demo vintage.
  17. Well, there can´t be any good games if there aren´t games like yesterday My connection was a bit stuttery--> I had quite some problems steering the shrikes in CTF. I bumped the new geneva space convention thread. Other than that, for a more efficient battle, please don´t waste turrets. The only kind of game where all turrets can/should be placed in the setup phase is CTF (IMHO). I wrote a paragraph on turrets on the wiki, but that appears to be dead again . The gist: turrets are mainly short range weapons. Placing them in the open makes them easilly destroyable by long range fire of all kinds. And welcome to Multiplayer Zengentoo! (We know who you are )
  18. British Colombia it is. But Eastern Canada is on my wish list for the near future Our game plan right now is starting from Seattle we´ll drive as directly as possible to Banff and Jasper National Parks while the weather lasts and then drift west again to Vancouver Island. Three weeks are alotted to this plan. Then we´ll fly down to LA to visit family for a few days and get a sun tan
  19. Interesting, have to read into that. btw , thx for the spanish wind link
  20. Safe long term storage of nuclear waste is priced into the cost of nuclear energy? The risk of Chernobyl style disasters is priced into the cost of nuclear energy? How?
  21. Despite the reemergence of the DP server, I think we should try this sometime. Maybe in October when the likelyhood of getting more people online is higher (also I´m on holidays in Canada/USA in September ).
