  1. Those items may be cool to add but they would do nothing for the game play. I lost many a squad in my first few weeks of CMBBing when trying to have troops use living and dead tanks for cover.
  2. Watching BOB now. They talked aboot the failed attempt to capture the petrol dump. It sounded just like the final scene of the hoaky movie. I was unaware that part really happened.
  3. Haven't tried that. But after quiting the last game all is back to normal. DOH! Musta been operator error.
  4. After a game of CMBB. I click Exit on the main screen and the computer reboots/shutown. Win 2000 Athlon 1600+ NiVida 400MX Onboard sound - no card. I owned it for almost a year and this just started happening 3 days ago.
  5. Try "The Destruction of Army Group Centre - subtitled "Hitler's Greatest Defeat" can't remember the author.
  6. Having a book published does make one respectable. I've had dozens published. What do I do for a living, you ask? I ARE a tech writer. I've written many tomes in the last 20+ years but none with a by-line. Back to the original point: Why is this site so nice? I think its the cutsie smiley faces   Damit - couldn't use all the faces the limit is 8. Who controls this forum anyway??!! There is really one reason this place is so nice: Because the games are soooo GREAATTT. Why would anyone want to jepardize their good standing here and be banned from the forum over a trivial matter? Who controls this forum anyway??!! How come I can't use any more faces. Who controls this forum anyway??!!
  7. The B-52 was called the Buffalo or BUFF for short. AKA: Big Ugly Fat Friend
  8. I've always said Lee was the better general and Grant won cause of bigger forces/logistics. A good analagy is to compare Lee to Rommel and Grant to Patton/Monty. Huh? Grant and Lee tanks..nebermind... What kind did Boggy drive in Sahara?
  9. Rommel was a brilliant maneuverer as CA previously stated. As for the battles he lost El Alemian - out gunned 5 to 1 or greater. Normandy - his hands were tied by Hilter refusing to free the troops from Pas de Calias. Sorry, I don't know enuff aboot Tunis to comment. But plan on reading more when CMAK comes out. Yes, he was chronically under supplied. In the book "Bodygaurd of Lies" by (i forgot the name) the author points out how many on the attempts to supply DAK the Brits were in full knowledge of time and path of the supply convoys. They were able to intercept these convoys including the flight of sixteen ME-323s (the German Spruce Goose).
  10. Gentlemen, This has been the most fascinating and educational thread I have read yet at this site. The two things I learned are don't doubt Jason C's knowledge and sure as hell don’t challenge him to a CM duel.
  11. Wow, I am impressed with site describing the battle. web page The OOB including fatigue, casualities, and morale is great. How did you do that? The rough maps are a little hard on the eyes.
  12. I just want to hear the crack of a 88 taking out a Valentine from 1900 meters! Oh Baby oh oh ohoooooo

  14. Paradrops can be done now (except for the actual descent). Simply build a battle with reinforcements. Place the entrance marker in the middle of the map. I've tested it on CMBB not on CMBO. For realism you could use multiple small groups spread out wide area.
  15. Right off the GD (not GrossDeuchland) 91 ehh?? DB of Murrieta sez I'll be thar!!!!
  16. I am worthless. I am nobody. I have a 5 digit number. I am not worthy to sniff the tires of the mail truck that delivered your copies of CMBO. I bow to the power of the lower 50% and two's and three's. However my number is lucky 2 pair ace's and eight's. That is a lucky hand, ehh? 17. Salerno was touch and go for the 1st ten days or so. Some of the German counter attacks would be great. Be sure to include plenty of allied sea and air power.
  18. My 10 year old son developed one "Max Smoke" About 20 FT teams each side bothsides in a hot, dry, massive, rolling, wheatfield. Lotsa smoke and flames. Not much fun .
  19. Dire Straits "Brothers in Arms" or Black Sabbath - "War Pigs" or better yet Pink Floyd "US and THEM". ...Generals sat as the line on the map moved from side to side....
  20. I see CMBB is available early OCT 03. I be guessin that CMAK will be ready a week or two after that?
  21. To play this game you need not be quick with the mouse/kybd, it a thinking mans game. In order to think, I prefer quiet. On most games I keep the speaker volume way down. On the RTS games I always turned the music portion of the sound off and listened only to the battle/alert sounds. I like my computer sound just above the threshold of audible detection. I even listen to Pink Floyd at volume level ONE the stereo. Where do you keep the volume when playing CMBB?
  22. Lets keep it at the squad level, with a much expanded map (20 – 50 square KM or long narrow fronts  ). And allow multiple players (2 to 10) on each side. Each player would be controlling a company or battalion. The game would need to be hosted on a server, where each would up load their turn and down load a “local movie”. Coordination and battle plans would come down from the divisional commander, who could also be a playing battalion commander. In order to coordinate the game the “GO” button would be pressed at a predetermined time; lets say 0:00 Zulu time every day. Units of commanders that failed to get orders in on time would just sit around waiting, just like the guys I fail to give orders to. Resupply of ammo would occur every 30 turns using rules similar to current Operation supply. This could be controlled using line-of-supply rules to the edge of the map, or have a certain number of “supply trucks” that a unit would need to be in range of to pick up more ammo. Units in close contact with the emeny would still receive some more bullets but not a full compliment. Supply would also need to be worked out for off board arty. And a killed spotter dude would not necessarily mean that those tubes would go away. Reinforcements could come as either new companys, possibly with new players or using the US system of bringing worn down squads up to strength with green dudes. As one battalion moved forward the others in the line would need to spread out to hold a fall back position. Things could get boring for a non-attacking commander. A complete game could be scheduled last a 2, 3 or 6 months up to a year.
  23. I just started a huge PBEM scenario. I opened the game and started my setup and was interrupted by the wife. What was she thinking? - her hair wasn't even on fire. I did a save. When I returned I wasn't able to open the game as a PBEM. I had to restart from the txt file that sent to me. What did I do wrong??? Can you save a PBEM in the middle of a turn?
