  1. You're going to have to one-up on the insults, if you wish to receive a "green" troll rating from me.
  2. I'd call game balance - in '41-'42 the German forces are already in the ****ter with Russian tanks. Well, maybe if the Russian heavy field guns would have a hefty price tag...
  3. No, I didn't shoot myself in the head. If I did that every time after witnessing an amateur troll thread, I wouldn't be typing this. That's because I'd be dead, and rotting, and buried six feet under! How many cemeteries do you think have good net connections for decomposing cadavers?
  4. As I haven't seen anyone answering this one yet, I'd like to point out one thing. The AT rifles fire rather small, solid slugs. If the targeted tank has a properly tempered armor there'll be no spalling, and the slug penetrates the tank "clean", without hitting any critical items, or wounding the crew.
  5. True; I wouldn't want to be driving a truck through a muddy field, if there was an 1337 Soviet AT team with their 5up3r 5n!p4r_r1fl3 on the opposite side.
  6. This is a bit of an old story, back from the times of CM:BO. I was playing a ME as Axis, in a snowy village during night time. As anyone can tell, that translates into really crappy visibility. My friend (playing as Americans) had a knack of sending fast jeeps and scout cars as flash recon in front of his main force... Since all commands are made beforehand, it happened so that one of his MG jeeps and my Stuh42 were speeding down the same street... In opposite directions. The Jeep crew probably didn't have time to mutter "Oh, sh..." when my tank jumped in their headlights, caused the jeep to explode by the impact, and then plowed through the burning remains as if nothing had happened. The next command phase was spent exchanging endless "I can't believe that happened!" comments. A truly amazing feature, I wonder how the damage is calculated? Is it the compared mass, speed and armor of the crashing objects?
  7. I don't understand why wouldn't the AT rifle fire at ALL soft vehicles... Those rounds would make short work out of the engine & transmission.
  8. I'd just like to clarify - does the firepower bonus of a HQ team contribute to the effectiveness of the mortar teams under it's command? Does it mean that the mortars fire with more accuracy?
  9. Ti my knowledge, the autocannons on ground attack planes were rather light; their effectiveness was based on the fact that the rounds penetrated the fragile top armor of tanks. I doubt that would have worked on ground-based guns. Although, I've done some serious carnage on tanks with my 37mm flak in CM...
  10. Screw you! I could still become the president of the United States!
  11. Definitely. I believe I've read that the PF models 60 and 100 were more accurate than the Panzershreck at optimal ranges, and the "100" model even had a bigger warhead, I believe. Besides, the Panzerfausts were more similar to modern squad-based AT weapons than Panzerschreck.
  12. Ditto. And IRL, the Panzerfausts were vastly more effective than Panzerschrecks. [ October 26, 2002, 04:02 PM: Message edited by: Bone_Vulture ]
  13. That's a possibility. But since the binoc's don't increase firepower, this behavior needs to be fixed.
  14. Well, that's true. But I don't usually bother playing scenarios, so I don't care.
  15. Yes... "CM3: Winter War". That ought to attract the international audience.
  16. I don't think the spoilers matter, unless you manage to read the whole story in a split second. Nice to see that I'm not the only one to narrate a battle with screenshots.
  17. I'd like to direct your attention to the second pic of the original post. The caption states the following... I replayed the moment, and if you look at the other squad visible in the pic, you'll notice that it's also firing at the same enemy unit, even though there's yet another enemy coming in almost behind them!
  18. I think this nears the root of the problem. As I mentioned in the picture series, the HMG unhid just about the same time as the Company HQ. Both had binoculars, as did the Platoon HQ. Now, I don't mind an HMG team opening fire at that range, since it has a poor close combat abilities, and can create effective suppressive fire even with a poorer firepower rating due to it's ammo supplies. But what I want fixed is that underpowered units, namely HQ's, will not unhide to fire unless there's an enemy in their immediate proximity. Like it has been stated before, the greatest contribution that the HQ team gives to the battle is not it's firepower, but the skill-boosting bonuses it gives to the troops under it's command. ... I'm glad to see that my presentation is encouraging other CM players to open their eyes on the problem. Finally.
  19. Obviously I try to keep the HQ in good cover whenever possible. As far as I can remember, rhis has also happened when the unit was in woods / scattered trees. Oh dear Lord, yes! No. But does this mean I'm forced to place a cover arc for every unit behind the immediate front lines, just to be insured that they won't go suicidal? That's not the way it should be. That is how it happens. I'd be most happy if you'd look into this.
