  1. Feedback and constructive criticism isn't throwing a tantrum but I guess it is here. Fine, if customer feedback is irrelevant to Battlefront, fine it's a waste of my time. I wish them the best since obviously they are the only ones who know anything about anything to do with development, marketing, distribution or strategic planning. Not listening to your long time repeat customers because they are obviously just throwing a selfish tantrum, yep, ok. They don't owe me anything, who said they do? I never did. You are making me into some kind of a caricature... that's not me or my intentions. But I'm not billing hours either so why continue, right? Carry on and make sure not to listen to anything you don't like or agree with, that works every time.
  2. I realize the reality of the economics but it's not the same development space as it was 10 years ago. There are new technologies, crowd funding, Steam distribution, other indie studios doing much higher fidelity presentations in the wargaming/strategy space. I think CM is becoming so insular and closed off it's missing a lot of opportunities. And, if you dare criticize or point anything out you get shot down. So oh well, it will become a smaller and smaller niche within a niche until it's just the old guard and it will slowly die off. This game needs to grow it's customer base, it needs more exposure, and with that new investment becomes possibilities, but some investment needs to be there to make the game attractive to new players (and keep loyal old ones happy). I want the company and game to continue to succeed but it's becoming increasingly frustrating to see it falling further behind with less of a chance for bringing in new customers. Strategy and wargaming gaming isn't as much of a dark horse as it used to be, CM should get it's self out there and get some exposure and don't be afraid to invest some more in the polish that will help bring in new costumers. Ironically random thread I just came upon: https://www.reddit.com/r/wargame/comments/39x7jk/anyone_here_play_combat_mission/ Small example of how the outside world sees CM... this is from a year ago...
  3. It's easy to ridicule someone being reasonable, I guess, even though I was pretty specific how I think the game could be improved. How's this then, man this game really sucks, it could be cool but the devs didn't invest enough in the engine and it totally kills the game for me. What a total waste of money, these guys are the worst. Is that better, is that more to the point? Or is... hey I really like the game but I think they should invest some more resources to bring the game up to modern and reasonable expectations. Seriously... it's the internet so I guess trying to be reasonable isn't allowed. Oh and I put in a ton of time testing the game and reporting bugs, especially shader issues... so I'm not just whining, I've tried to help. I've also made sound mods and few texture ones as well... I've been invested since CMBO in the game and it's community... but hey f me... I suppose for getting fed up with lack luster bugged technology. This game isn't just a little off tech wise, it's way off and deserves criticism, especially from long time supporters. Added: check out Graviteam Tactics for an indie crew with a much more modern engine... plus it tracks ballistics and a lot of the tech CM does as well, so it's not an impossible inquiry. Not meant as a 1:1 comparison, just a quick example.
  4. Glad you enjoy it. That's the thing for me, it's an awesome game (all the way back to CMBO) in spite of itself (engine). I just have a hard time not getting bummed thinking how much more awesome it could be if we had the current mechanics but with a modern engine without all the current issues and limitations, especially performance, graphics and sound.
  5. Either of these? http://cmmodsiii.greenasjade.net/?page_id=5#search/text=FathersBrothers and the link in this thread still works for the FathersBrothersNephewsCousinsFormerRoomatesSoundmodV3-RedThunderUpdate. http://s3.amazonaws.com/cmmods-zips.greenasjade.net/CMBN/FathersBrothersNephewsCousinsFormerRoomatesSoundmodV3-RedThunderUpdate.rar
  6. Have you tried emailing/pm'ing him? He's probably still got it.
  7. I think if the current engine took advantage of any hardware or driver optimizations at all we wouldn't see this super terrible performance, let alone all the shader issues. But I know it's a lost cause at this point. I'm really just hoping engine 3 isn't as bad.
  8. If you are doing it yourself also don't forget the Leader, Team Leader and I believe Assistant/Asst strings as well. But yeah using WinMerge or something like it makes it a lot easier to do yourself.
  9. I have fun with too many other games to mess them all up for CMx2... I hope that either BF can "fix" the engine or the drivers are corrected. I bet neither happens which is a bummer. Also... all the other games work great and Cmx2 is the one with the tons of graphical issues... hmmm... yeah. /sigh
  10. haha... yeah I'm playing a bit of CMBN so I did that one first. Thanks for helping everyone out.
  11. I fixed the light version myself for CMBN... not sure if it will work with FB, since I don't have it. Here it is if anyone wants to use it until a "real" new version comes out. http://www.mediafire.com/file/x09w3k1nu86jten/vin_cmbn40_text.rar
  12. Ok, frustration has passed... working with the latest nvidiaProfileInspector to get something working. I'm posting results over in the CMBN tech forum, check there if interested.
  13. Wow... so now Supersampling is ALSO broke in the CMx2 engine?!?! This is a joke! You can't even get rid of the crazy shimmering now without breaking a ton of the textures. I assume there will never be any fix from the devs? Grrr! I just unwisely bought the 4.0 upgrade and battle pack... what was I thinking!?!?
  14. I found 8xAA with 8XSS plus using all the great texture mods will improve the quality a lot, including getting rid of 99% of the shimmering textures. FPS don't have to be 144fps, of course, but a nice smooth 60fps would be great for panning around the map. Right now it feels super laggy which is a real bummer for me. I have the game on a Samsung 850 Pro SSD and load times are long as well. That's the thing, the engine does not seem to take advantage of any of the technology available, thus my frustration.
  15. Well... on a whim I went ahead and bought the 4.0 upgrade pack and the battles pack for CMBN. Even with my i7 6700k@4.5Ghz and 1080 SC GTX I still get average 20-30fps, on improved/better... lol! And of course NCP settings can be low or high makes no difference so mind as well run 8xAA and 8xSS, at least no shimmering textures. I don't mind spending a few dollars to help the development of cmx3 ... I might even get CMFB at some point. Here's a crazy idea that I'm sure will be "poo poo"ed like putting the games on Steam, or using a new engine, or investing in speed tree... etc... kickstarter/crowdfunding for future engine/games?!? Crazy and I assume DOA.
  16. That's how I am... I want to like the game again... I've been with the series for so long (since CMBO). I just can't really enjoy it as I did before, and honestly as superficial people might say it is, the graphics and performance are the main reasons why. I've got other gripes but the graphics/low fps just kill it for me now. Again... I hope to be back as soon as possible.
  17. The amount of "technical" problems and lack of optimization with the graphics are what has pretty much made me quit playing the series. I didn't even buy this one... and I've played them all since CMBO. The engine is an eye sore to me at this point, not to mention the ridiculously low fps you get. Heck my i7 6700k@4.5Ghz and EVGA SC 1080 sucks in CMx2 because the engine, graphically speaking, is in my opinion sorely lacking. I'd love to come back into the CM fold, I am a fan (playing and modding), but I'm not gonna suffer being super frustrated trying to play a game in my rare down time any more. I'll be back for CMx3 I hope!
  18. I really can't enjoy playing CM games anymore till a new engine comes along (the performance is just too rough as well as the fidelity), which in my solo opinion they desperately need.
  19. This again... CM performance even on very high end systems is, putting it lightly not very good. I've been through this with them, and according to them it's not going to change in any meaningful way, unless they invest more money and they have their reasons they are not willing to do this (I think Speedtree would have been worth it, then again I think the game should be on Steam too, so I'm obviously of a very different mindset). In my opinion the graphics fidelty and performance for CMx2 is very subpar by any kind of "modern" standard. I still overall like the games (I've been around since CMBO) but the performance and graphics are often a real bummer for me these days and I find my self playing less and less. I don't think I'm "done" with CM, but I'm reaching my frustration tipping point, so it could be coming soon. I think I will finally check out Mius Front at this point.
  20. Yeah I'm a sucker for the Total War series as well, going back to the original Shogun. They are always on my permanent game rotation. I'm currently playing the DeI mod for Rome 2, which I highly recommend if you want a slower more "realistic" styled experience.
  21. So I guess if you want more accurate buildings for Holland scenarios you should disable all Pat's and TAL's buildings?
  22. Even if you use the in-game AA I highly recommend Antialiasing - Transparency: 4x (supersample), it makes a big difference in the image quality. Of course that is if it doesn't cost too many fps for you to turn it on.
