  1. I've suggested BF use Kickstarter for a variety of things over the years... I think it could be great for them, but I am also a big supporter of them using Steam as well and that got shot down pretty hard. So... /shrug

  6. Here's both to compare...MG34 and MG42, what I'm using after a little tweaking. I've made a few versions but this is the one I'm using the most. Again, since it's not all original I won't put it on GAJ but here it is if anyone wants to take a look. If Aris or Vein don't want me to post my mashup tweaked versions I'll remove the links right away, of course!
  12. Haha... yeah you could re-use some of them, such as the plain ones for CMFB, but they would need be a "snowy" version made.
  13. I am going to risk sticking my neck out to ask. What if any performance and/or graphics improvements can we expect moving forward, and if there are to be some is there any kind of realistic time frame for these changes to be implemented? Thanks. Also... I have found using nvidiaProfileInspector to put an FPS limiter on has helped "smooth" out the experience. I have choosen 40fps without Vsync using a Gsync monitor.
  14. Ancient thread, but I just played this scenario and had a really good time with it. Total Victory for the Canadian Paras! It was good fight... Spoiler Alert (mark to read): I had the HQ and 1 squad in the 2 story Manor and the other squad in the guard house for most of the fight. Deployed smoke shield to get to the guard house.
  15. By the way the muzzle flash is now made up of several .bmp files. I made a mixture/combo version that I think works pretty good. It's vanilla, Aris and Vein all combined.   16. I think all things except sound... we start at 0, 1, 2, 3... for whatever reason it's done a little bit differently.
  17. I don't think "1" gets used. I marked up some "1" uniforms and checked them out in game... none of the "1" uniforms appeared, all the others did. I am remembering now this is how it works for everything except the sounds. You have the "base" mod, then it goes to "2", "3", etc... the base one become the "1". If anyone knows different please correct me, but I think this how it works. I noticed this pattern across many texture groups, like vehicles and weapons.
  18. From some testing... this seems to be the case. Even though in the default files a "1" uniform file is there, it doesn't seem to be used in the game.
  19. I noticed in EZ's various mods out there and the variations he always skips the "1" uniform, other modders do this as well. For example: smod_american_m41_uniform 1 is always missing, same for all the other groups and nations. Is there a reason for this? Is "1" skipped if there is a .bmp that has no numbers? Like this: smod_american_m41_uniform smod_american_m41_uniform 2 smod_american_m41_uniform 3 In modding the sounds we always use the "0" sound 0.wav sound 1.wav sound 2.wav Thanks!
  20. I disagree with most of what you have said and you haven't convinced me of anything at all that would change what I think about BF and their direction. I've tried to explain my opinions in a clear and concise way without personally attacking anyone. If it's been too abrasive for you then fine, that's how you feel, it was not my intention. I've been personally ridiculed for this, it's cool though, don't worry the last thing in the world I need is a "safe space". I've said my peace, I really haven't more to add on this issue at this point, and no I'm not going to do a full market analysis and present it on the battlefront game forums. Bottom line, I like the games and the company for a long time, I want them to continue to succeed and grow, I see some issues in the direction they are going so because I care I let them be known, that's really it.
  21. Old post but curious was there ever a Mord portrait release for CMFB? I think I could reuse some of them from CMBN but maybe not the snowy ones.

I get it, I do... but I don't think anything we have now has to be given up to see some kind of improvements to the overall graphical and aural experience, maybe that has to wait till an engine 3 or 2.5 or whatever. At this point I feel I've done my squeaky wheel part and taken the lumps for it... I've said what I could about a hobby product I have enjoyed through the years and want to see it grow and improve. Heck... I'm even gonna finally buy CMFB, mod it up and see if I can look past the rough parts to get some fun again out of this thing. I am still hoping for a major cmx3 engine improvement (maybe a cmx2.5), steam support, expanding the user base and community, perhaps even crowd funding some fun stuff that would otherwise be too risky, who knows... I'll just have to wait and see.

I didn't say they were "oblivious to their base", you know look... the things I've been suggesting aren't in a vacuum, and just because they've stayed in business doesn't mean they haven't made any mistakes or misjudged the market. I think they are selling themselves short, my opinion is based on my experience and knowledge. They will do what they want and fine go ahead I don't have to agree with it. Seems pretty rough that even making suggestions isn't tolerated in the community without ridicule, that to me is a sign of an insular community in a cyclical closed pattern. Niche games are flourishing, including war and strategy games... PC gaming is in a new renaissance, thanks a lot to steam and crowdfunding. People are buying joysticks for space sims, a long thought dead niche back again, old school RPGs back in style but with updated engines, etc... heck, War Thunder is doing great and even the latest IL2 games are plugging along fine with new development and releases coming. Hardcore fps games like Squad and even ARMA are very popular and even those would be consider niche games to a certain extent, not for your average COD player. I think they are playing it way too conservative given the current market conditions, but again they'll do what they want I'm just a customer.
  24. Battlefront is like a grumpy old man yelling get off my lawn at some kids who offered to mow it for free. You know, because it's been that way for 25 years and that's how they like it... fine, it's your lawn, just trying to help. Oh I've been helping pick the weeds for the last 15 years (25 or so if you include my own lawn) or so but what the heck do I know about your lawn or anyone else's? Seriously you don't think in this market you couldn't grow CM's business?! Seriously!? You don't give CM enough credit or its potential customers. Sure 15 years ago was 15 years ago, a lot has changed... maybe they were "on it" back then... and it kept them floating but the potential now is much larger. Oh and I've tried every manner of constructive feedback angle, eventually you get frustrated at lack of development, even for old loyal supporters.
  25. So I hope for a better looking/sounding/performing CM engine and I want BF to have a larger growing robust customer base... and some how I'm the one causing the issues. Again the obvious lack of market awareness can tell you CM is headed towards an increasingly closed off customer base where there is ironically a bigger than ever market available. BF can do anything they want, it's their ship and they can steer it anywhere they want. Doesn't mean it's always going in the right direction though. hint: check the facebook page for Battlefront.
