  1. I did a fresh windows install for my machine last week before buying CMBB, knowing that the large ops would be resource hogs. I can tell you it works wonders for CMBB. You should have half the waiting time with a fresh install. Win ME, AMD Duron 1300, 256 mb ram, G4TI4200 64mb
  2. Bah ...she is probably a FemBot anyway.....you know, like in Austin Powers
  3. Compared to CMBO you will have to change your infantry tactics, from my experience splitting teams also greatly helps, beucase the teams automatically split into an assault and a fire support section. Making use of the new infantry commands also can make a difference.
  4. Well in the German version we certainly need a fix for the reinforcement delay. At the moment you can´t set the number of rounds until reinforcements arrive because of a too long text.
  5. Ooops, you´re right Van_Gogh, I got the Pc version, but that´s pretty sad that CDV would **** up that bad and miss out the pdf manual in the mac version.
  6. It´s not that bad, after all the whole manual is in pdf format in the cd.
  7. Depends if the UK version is censored or not, in Germany nazi insignias are forbidden so getting an English copy might not be possible directly from CDV.
  8. Thanks for all the info, I´m enlightened now. I didn´t know that the different prices don´t work in the editor. In QB mode everything makes sense.
  9. That´s all nice and good but so far I haven´t seen any difference in cost for a unit, no matter what the rarity is. For example with rarity set to standard: In June 1941 the Renault-35 costs 34 points with a rarity of 65%. In June 1943 the same vehice still costs 34 points but has a rarity of 200%. Or does the rarity factor not influence the cost but maybe the way the AI shops ???
  10. On standard the values are close to the historical facts, variable can give random rarity numbers.
  11. I got the strange feeling that this option is broken. I just tried to purchase the same equipment in different years so that the rarity factor varies, rarity is set to standard. But no matter what I try the points value remains the same.
  12. Getting this game will be the best choice you ever made. And if you wanna redo Stalingrad just wait til the postman hands over your cd, without giving away any spoilers I can assure you that you will get a lot of bang for your buck.
  13. Hmmm with 1753 built this version should be hard to overlook, I´m gonna check the editor.
  14. Why the whining, just set your force type to unlimited and you can spend the points any way you like. I don´t think CMBB calculates the points value of unit types in such a way that the points reflect the historical composition of the troops.
  15. This reminds me a little of Saving Private Ryan, when the German 20mm opened fire on their own tank to shake off the assaulting G.I´s. From my personal point of view I will rather take 2 Mg42´s instead of a quad 20mm any time. I really expected the effect vs infantry to be a lot better.
  16. You should have defragged your harddisk before installing.
  17. Sounds like a faulty cd to me, or your cd drive is ageing. Try to copy everything to the harddrive and install from there, or extract the game files manually with a compression proggi.
  18. Taken from the M1 Tank Platoon manual Sloped & Rounded Armor: Since the famous T-34 (first produced in 1941) tanks have used sloped armor to increase the effective thickness of their armor, not to mention encouraging ricochets. One of the first remedies for HEAT warheads was to further change the shape of armor plate. Instead of using flat plates, during the 1950s new tank hulls and turrets were cast in rounded shapes. Rounded armor increased the chance of rounds bouncing off, or at the least causing the HEAT gas jet to strike the armor at an angle, so the jet would bleed off into the open air, rather than burning through the armor. Of course, a dead-on HEAT hit remained fatal.
  19. When it comes to infantry tactics you now have to see everything more from the platoon leader´s perspective instead of the bataillon commander´s. "Theres the enemy....rush him boys"...no longer works. Small SPOILER ------------------ ------------------ ------------------ ------------------ ------------------ wait til you see a Soviet mpi squad in a streetfight, you will love that
  20. Well personaly I love the new mg and small arms model. In CMBO it happened countless times that infantry groups hopped from house to house right under the noses of my Mg42 emplacements. This no longer happens, streetfighting and crossing open ground is a lot more realistic now. And I agree, the T34 is damn fast.
  21. Well I couldn´t wait anymore and when I saw it in stores on Friday I went out and bought it. Using Waffengrenadiere instead of SS doesen´t really matter to me, maybe some usermade patch will correct this. And that some vehicles and uniforms lack swastikas also doesen´t ruin my gameing experience.
  22. I just played the Prokhorovka scenario and it proofs that the German heavy tanks have the edge when engaging from range, thanks to their superior optics. I placed the 8 Tiger tanks given in this scenario on high ground, protected their flanks with the Pz III and IV´s and simply watched them tear up the Soviet T-34´s and Su-122´s. I only lost 1 Tiger from a flank shot by a T-34 which broke through the lines and another Tiger got bogged down in soft ground. The losses among my medium tanks however were considerably higher.
  23. Rofl !! This is so morbid, it´s almost funny
  24. I know you´re right guys, I only would have loved to use such guns for "what if" scenarios. Seeing the impact of a 7ton projectile from Dora must have been impressive, unless you´re fighting on the other side.
