  1. I know the ATI fog issue has been beat to death to a degree, and here goes again... I assume there will be fog as a condition for Afrika Korps, and as I understand, dust. Is the ATI card still not going to render it for Afrika Korps? I have read the "reasons" why CMBB doesn't render fog with an ATI card, and because I am not technical enough, I don't care and don't understand (don't waste time here trying to make me understand, it's economics now for me). I really really really like the fog, and may end up getting a new card just to support it, however, all my other games that have fog, do just fine. I am a raging enough capitalist to understand that if it is too tough an issue to work around for the money, ok. On the other hand, it seems there are alot of people with ATI cards. However, to the developers I say this... You have done such an awesome f**king job with the game that you have a following of people who will understand if you can't do anything about this. I will not give up the game or not buy things because of a card, because I trust you and love what you created. So the pain is not enough for me to give up the game. I ask/beg/flirt/bribe you to do something which will allow us to use ATI cards...if not.... How does one use two different cards on the same machine, because I want my fog and the cards are cheap. 3. I think your solution to the dropouts is perfect and simple. SgtAbell
  4. Not completely true. Depending, (I believe), on the video card, units in building debris can be hard to find. I also recommend you do a shift-v to turn off vehicles. Nothing more annoying than missing the fact than a 155 mm arty spotter is taking a siesta on the back of a vehicle for the game. (I am color blind which doesn't help). As for the theory of setup, to me that is really 1/3 the battle. My skills improve and my game outcomes improve more via the time I spend on setup, especially getting my eye down on the terrain. 5. I think I know the operation you are talking about, but since I am at work I am not sure. Here is how I looked at it from the attacker point of view... The time is the time, and one must follow the path of least resistence. I found a keyhole, and hit it and exploited it to move into the backfield. With that much time, I had all the time in the world to sneak and get into position. If I were on defense, find the focus and ambush points to hurt the attacker's most mobile units/longest range in ability to attack units. String them out as much as possible, and take small nips without extended engagements, 2 rounds and get out safely. Just my opinion, SgtAbell
  6. Not a bug...it's designed that way I believe. Had the same thing happen in the zoo scenario. There are occasions that they can see through some buildings. It is to simulate some degree of reality of being able to see through paper thin factory walls. Not sure the specifics. SgtAbell
  7. Awesome, way better than anything I can do. However, it reminds me of the Spitfire model I just build not too long ago...especially the blurring part...I used enamels, and no spray paint. After I finished it, I was sooooo proud considering it had been 20 some years ago in my youth that I worked on a model. Then, I went online and looked at some models from those who have no life and a lot of talent and decided to put up my brush until I have more time. Again, very good! SgtAbell
  8. Having just lost my cherry in ROWIII, blind is fun and annoying. In one scenario, where the parameters were not written, I place all of my mines and wire and barricades around my defensive position, when in fact, it needed to be on on long side, and the two short sides. Statistically, remember where the battle is being fought from, Germans from the west, Russians from the east. (It would seem that scenario designers would pick this as a default). However, I love to play a whole scenario from each unit, even if played before, it is so much more fun to do this when it's a blind game. SgtAbell
  9. Get rid of it if you want fog, damn thing doesn't render the fog for the game. I love fog, love the card for other games. SgtAbell
  10. LOL, Sorry for my temporary blindness,,,you got all the scores, thanks. <--slaps self in the head. As for my comment about data being a bit off, I just thought everyone on the axis side would have had a bitch of time, and lost by a larger amount. However, that is my narrow view, especially after I went back and looked at how people did with the Christmas scenario. My post on the bbs explains that I spread my defenses based on the fact that I was not clear where the attack and reinforcement came from. Either some people paid up their psychic friends network membership, got lucky, can read more than I can. Glad it's all working and thanks for the clarifications! SgtAbell
  11. Kingfish, I am asking these questions to help support you with what you are doing, not to give you a hard time. I may not have seen it, but when is the hard cutoff for AAR's? In addition, I note you are posting the scores, with out saying who is axis or allies. There are two things about this. The first is that I reported all my scores and I do not see them posted, are you waiting for reports from both sides before making it official, or will you take one side by the due time and date? In looking at the averages for rear guard action, the mean for the axis is alot higher than I would believe, meaning the data may not be correct (IMHO). [i think the means should be further apart, however, I may be wrong, also in Christmas Battle also]. I encourage you, to be really clear about who is axis or allies when you are posting. I encourage you not to rush to get this done because someone is going to be gone who will help you crunch numbers. There are a number of us out here who can help you, and in addition, it will provide you with quality assurance. Nothing will be lost by letting people in the tourney help double check numbers. Take the time you need and delegate. You took over a task to do and picked it up marveously, I would rather see quality at this point, after all we have been playing for months. I assume NABLA is in Excel, if not, there are some of us out here who can convert the logic into it if needed. Given the above, when will the AAR's be due? Please accept this advice and not criticism. SgtAbell
  12. I think V hit it on the head, the rank of that team as regular, with no commander, makes them pretty useless. You did manage to get 5 shots off, which also lets you know the quality of the team sucks, with the sun in it's eyes. (which, by the way, is something I had no idea affected the game.)Was your unit hiding before firing it's first shot? I think I see a problem. If you look to the right of the team, you will see a rise in the ground, (about 50% the way through the arc)it could be that if the tank was crossing to that point, the unit was hiding, it didn't even really know it was there until it came into view at the edge of the map. Check LOS to everywhere in the arc, (something I have learned to do to make sure there aren't any hiding spots. Was there another unit, which was more palatable than the tank nearby? In other words, did you see the team look toward the t-34 when they entered the arc, and then it looked away? I do wonder if the "edge of the map" is affecting something though...interested in what the reason this one may have occurred. I have always found a reason for things to happen in CMBB. SgtAbell
  13. Yes, please Kingfish, let us know what is acceptable and good for this. SgtAbell
  14. A question to the grogs... When playing in the game, I notice the AI killing or shooting at the command tanks before others, with what seems to be an unrealistic, (at first glance) ability. Were tanks during real war able to spot command tanks easier? Is there a visual difference in the game between a command/hq unit and others? Is it a unit type by unit type difference? (I remember hearing that there Russian tank(s) which stood out due to a radio transmitter antennae sticking out. Just wondering, SgtAbell
  15. I just recently went back and played a CMBO game with a person who was new to the game, (and he was very good, better than he gave himself credit for..) It helped me see the differences. CMBO, the units aren't as "smart" on their own. AI is way better in CMBB. CMBO AI actions are more predictable, but will do weird things. CMBB, may at first seem unrealistic, but after knowing what it was they are doing, it is usually the right thing to do. First, as an American, I love looking at the American Units, it was just a "feel" thing, in which I felt removed from the game by not having American or British units,,,just personal preference. CMBO gives bad habits about some things. For example, I love how quickly units in open ground are suppressed, however, what should have been added is something akin to uneven ground, which would allow approach over open terrain at a slow rate, using a sneak like command that isn't exhausting. However, that said, I haven't tried to sneak anything across open ground in the game so not sure how accurate I am. Borg spotting just plain old sucks, and hurts the Germans. Their fine optics do come into play, however, once the unit is viewed, and fired upon, the sheer volume of fire, if you are not keyholed is enough to take out the lightly armored long range German guns. Scoot and Shoot command, (like CMBO hunt and reverse, but with more viewing time), would be better if there was more memory to the unit about what it is firing on, when they come back up, however this is true for both sides. Basically, the borg spotting needs to be a adjusted to some degree, (based on being out of command/location to original firing unit, moral, exp. and all that) However, the biggest piece of improvement is pure realism. That is my love of CMBB, (screw the arcade lovers). My first recommendation is to play CMBO, by using the rules where you can only go from unit to unit using the + key, (I forget the name of the person who created the rule set), but basically, you can only use the unit's point of view, and optics ability to play the game. (A must in the next game engine which will take the game over the top). Then, do the same with the CMBB demo, and you will see the difference in the game. I don't like big open steppe areas, and having to always look for slight depressions over long opens spaces, it's boring and hard on the eyes, so some of the scenarios where there is little trees and cover which has to be discerned can get a bit old. It is well worth the buy due to improved game play in a realistic sense. I am still learning and learning playing CMBB but loving it. I am rambling due to post lunch sleepiness, hope this helps. 16. Frunze, The lack of postings was my fault to a degree. I just sent the to Kingfish a couple of days ago, and he probably hasn't gotten to post them yet. SgtAbell
  17. For what it is worth from an amateur. Wood bunker, I assume mg nest? (don't remember here at work whether or not you can get an at gun into a wood bunker). Smoke the T-34 or other anti armor to get tanks into position. As for the bunker being in a good spot, two things, If there is interposing higher ground between you and it, the tanks will burn alot of ammo. However, are your tanks perfectly still while firing at it. (also means, not in the middle of a hunt command). Any movement will make % low, and I can't believe you are at 7% within 500m , but again, I am doing this from memory and possible lack of exp. Smoke the T-34. Take out nest while moving your inf up the hill. A good hit from your Stug will be better than the IIIJ I believe. I would get the panzer to a hull down point and let him wait for the t-34 in toe to toe. Get your view to the ground to find a depression after the smoke starts, put him there and keep him. After getting the nest, use the armor )(v) command to only have the panzer fire at appearing armor, let the stug hit long range fire. Can sprinkle a little arty on the hill to expose the nme. They will start moving and you can get a better view. When inf gets to 250m, but use a green squad or lowest exp in the lead to take the fire, barrage the hill with everything you got, concentrating at this time on the mg's. Hope some of this helps. SgtAbell
  18. I will post this one to the bbs if there isn't a clear answer here, or people think this should not be posted. Is it always assumed that the Axis reinforcements will always come from the West? Or, in all scenarios, is it that nobody knows where reinforcements come in. See my post on the bbs under Christmas Battle. SgtAbell
  19. Nevermind, I did my reading, application to get on ezboard will be sent....notice of SgtAbell being too lazy to read sent to his superiors... SgtAbell
  20. What bugs me is that they could set it up online as a download, charge alot less using any of the services, have a whole lot less hassle and make everyone happy. SgtAbell
  21. Oh yeah, where is the guy that walks around looking at fire, who eats Barbie Doll heads and other foolishness? SgtAbell
