  1. Yes,,it is grisly.... I don't think I was clear. The iron,,being superheated by passing through metal, is supposedly what explodes. That somehow,,superheated iron compounds, when they hit water, have some type of explosion. (Other than superheated steam). Ok,,time to get out my transcripts and find the damn professor... SgtAbell
  2. Back in chemistry class, I had professor giving a demonstration of thermite, and more importantly, the explosion which is caused when iron/steel is superheated past a particular degree point, and it comes in contact with water. He then moved to the point that when AP rounds went through a tank, and then came in contact with water, i.e....a human body, an explosion would result that was deadly in nature due to the concussion. Was this a myth or real? I haven't seen this referenced anywhere, and reading the post below of "what is it like to be in a tank when it got hit?" thread reminded me of it. Anectdote question.... Talked to someone in Desert storm who was in a tank. After combat, they were driving back to the base, and the driver was saying that something got hit, because the tank was driving funny. They got out, and there were a number of shells embedded in the armor, which was causing a weight imbalance....is this a wive's tale also? (Would tank shells "stick" in the armor like a spoon in ice cream? SgtAbell
  3. Hey all, My opponents and I are at about turn 12. (I am writing this from work, so I don't remember everyone's handle and the section I am in). However, John Kettler, I am waiting for our first round, so please let me know if you are still waiting on anything from me. In addition, now that Treeburst is MIA, is there someone that we should be reporting to for anything. I am requesting that whoever "owns" the tourney, please put together some semblance of what is going on now with it in a single spot. By the way,,,,can particular threads be "tacked/stuck" to the top of a forum? Thanks all, having a great time. To my opponents, sorry I don't have more time to chat in emails, and am glad to get to know you through your tactics. To Treeburst, if you are watching... Please come back. Don't isolate. This is one of the few honorable groups I get to interact with, we need people of your passion. SgtAbell/CoFRArchangel
  4. Ok, I have a gamey tactic. Air game,,,one side flies to a spot in a remote area on the off chance that the highest ranking admiral of the nme would be found there, using a small force of lightly armored fighter planes.... Oh yeah,,not gamey...Yamamoto.... SgtAbell
  5. Tools request for tracking games! What tools, excel spreadsheets, or others to help manage one play more than one opponent? Just trying to save myself a bit of time. Thanks to all... Oh yeah... Turn 1 with Frunze All my moves to other opponents None of Allied opponents have completed their turns.... Waiting..... SgtAbell
  6. How do I say...ummm...aren't people supposed to not say a word about details of a game, whether true or not? SgtAbell

  8. <----speaking in a kid like voice.... Can I play! Can I play! Johnny isn't playing yet, so can I join the team? can I can I can I <---jumping up and down with the hand raised! SgtAbell
  9. Yes, his play was admittedly "gamey" as he and I both knew what each side had to offer. That is why in one of my posts, I am hoping to understand when an operation, if at all, can have just points available. SgtAbell
  10. Hi all, n00bish question here. Is there a way to play a campaign game, and to allow the humans to chose forces against email opponents? I am truly sorry if I am too dense to figure this out, and am very curious that if I am not an idiot, and the game is this way, why it was part of the design. I am still working through Sir Biltong's wonderful rules to get my sense of owning units over a continuum. Thanks as always for help, SgtAbell
  11. This may have been written about,,,again,,,SPOILER - - - - - - -- - - I played a friend in the scenario that takes place in Budapesht (sp?). I played the Germans, and he played the Russians. I got kicked in the reinforcement turn. I couldn't keep him away from rushing the bridge and being setup to fire on the bridge on the first turn where I had re-inforcements. I went back to the scenario a couple of times, and still can figure out how to do it. It was the shortest battle I ever played. Anyone else experence this? It is more a question of humor than of real need, as I am sure he an I will not be playing it again. SgtAbell
  12. Thanks for the reply,,,, Comon you grogs with wives, kids, lives, you really shouldn't be wasting your time playing this tourney, give it up,,,,get your priorities straight!!! .....and when they are straight, make sure to send me your email when I take your place!!! Good luck all you commanders, may the best/luckiest win! SgtAbell
  13. Ok,,,ok,,,so I am the number one replacement in line?? !!!! if so,,,who is going to drop,,,hmmm??? I will pay you, I will sleep...ok,,,maybe not? No, not interested in the overflow, I want meat like all the other old men! Please let me know when I can get more involved, and a suggestion or question, is there information you want to send to the replacements, just to have them come up to speed fast? SgtAbell

  15. Hello all, CMBO Bug or Feature, when selecting nme unit, I can see the targeting from the nme unit. It is a PBEM game, and my opponent is target buildings, and when I click on his unit, I can see the trace to where he is directing his fire. Is this due to the fact that my elite units are good, or is this a bug? Sgt Abell
