Murphy's Laws of Combat Mission
Nidan1 replied to Johnny Canuck's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Ho ho....I don't know if that is the situation that I would describe...those feelings would be far more dramatic in the picture that you paint. Losing a Tiger does not give the same feeling as losing a.... well, you know.......... -

While moving your nearly invincible Tiger E into position to slaughter some infantry. It is immobilised by a wheel hit. After two minutes of taking hits that merely bounce off, the crew bails leaving 40 some odd HE and 45 AP rounds unfired. You then have to look at the sorry thing for the rest of the game and just dream of what might have been. -

Too bad those lists have become the new right of passage for American youth. How far we have sunk. Photogenic crotches are now a new requirement for running for public office. -

I most defintely saw some red crosses go up on the near side of the bridge. My observer just got Lasik surgery at the Wehrmacht eye clinic, so I know he can see well enough. Did you pick this highly unbalanced and gamey battle? -

Check out the situation near the bridge Old Boy there are a few carcasses lying about. Not as many as I had hoped for...the Tiger was supposed to stop anything trying to come across. But they all did not get across. -

In other news, stikkypixie is near surrender as my Yank infantry roll up his flank, and send the stricken pixellandsers scurrying for the safety of the map edge. -

I am saddened by the loss of my immobilised Tiger E. The crew finally had enough of 76mm M-10 rounds bouncing off it, and decided to bail. I am sure Stuka is gloating in his little sand cave thinking that this could be the turning point. As his infantry rushes across the bridge to join the fight. My MG42 gunner adjusts the T&E to place grazing fire right across the aforementioned bridge. Sweet dreams Stukie, when the sun rises again over the desert, you'll get to see for yourself why it was affectionately known as "Hitler's zipper" -
Entering buildings....door #1, or door#2?
Nidan1 replied to Nidan1's topic in Combat Mission Battle for Normandy
Thanks, you can also blast your way into a building, I believe, if your unit has that capability. That seems like a waste of good explosives though if you are not actually assaulting an occupied structure. -
In the midst of a heavy firefight, I ordered a squad to sprint into a building. The building had two doors, one facing enemy fire, the other on the opposite side facing a fairly quiet street. The squad was taken under fire as it ran to the building, two casualties were taken. The rest of the squad continued to the building, but entered on the side facing the enemy risking more casualties. I'm sure this has been discussed before, probably in the CMSF world, but I need to ask the question anyway. Can you force units to enter a building through a particular door?

All of this nostalgia is making me sick. Why don't you all start a round of Russian Roulette. We'll then tie the last man standing to the back of a pickup and drag him through the streets until all the flesh is stripped from him. -

Why was the interface not developed further?

Who elected you as the "what we can or can't complain about cop"? No game is perfect, no development team is either, but the folks who buy and play the games still have every right to voice their issues, no matter how trivial they may seem to other people. -
