  1. You and I could be the poster boys of the joys of asynchronous liasons, my friend.
  2. I have been playing operations with my regular opponents this way for some time. Based upon each of your historical knowledge of a particular engagement, you can decide beforehand the most realistic assembly point for units arriving as reinforcements, taking into consideration the results of the battles already played, and the current configuration of the setup zones. Of course when playing with paratroopers, you have to agree to allow more latitude, to take into consideration placing airborne forces at particular locations as would be done in real life. When using PBEM play, this all must be agreed to from the start, when playing on line, you can define specific limitations using the on-line chat feature, before each battle starts.
  3. O flower of Scotland When will we see Your like again That fought and died for Your wee bit hill and glen And stood against him Proud Edward's army And sent him homeward Tae think again. The hills are bare now And autumn leaves lie Thick and still O'er land that is lost now Which those so dearly held And stood against him Proud Edward's army And sent him homeward Tae think again. Those days are passed now And in the past They must remain But we can still rise now And be the nation again That stood against him Proud Edward's army And sent him homeward Tae think again.
  4. He also wrote many, many times about how PBEM was secondary, not critical, up on the chopping block, that only grogs and whiners want it in, and you had to read between the lines a bit to see it was only email as a medium that was the problem, not that type of play in principle. The rumor spread that "PBEM may be out" and that got people upset, and upset people don't read between the lines very well. Then other people see all the people upset, and assume there's something to be really upset about. The word "PBEM" is kinda synonymous with async play at this point, since that the only way anyone does it. So when I saw a rumor going around that PBEM was in jeopardy, and a lot of the old guard up in arms, it was pretty easy to make the mistake. I started a new thread for the benefit of those who might have made the same mistake, and left the PBEM threads before what was really the case became apparent. </font>
  5. AAR on "Spamalot" For those of you in the NY area, if you can get to see it, its a must. Especially if you enjoy silliness and Monty Python in general. It was wonderfully done, and all of your favorite characters were there. Tim the Enchanter, the Knights who say NEEEEE, and my personal favorite the killer rabbit. That scene had my sides splitting. Don't miss it.
  6. Moving right along!!!!..... I am happy to inform you losers, that today my wife and I are celebrating her birthday by going to the Big Apple to see "Spamelot" on Broadway, and enjoy a fine, overpriced dinner at Sardi's. All of you who live in such backwater places as Minnesota, Ohio, Texas and of course Europe and Australia, should be suitably impressed that I am venturing out to visit the "Capital of the World", to rub elbows with illegal aliens and tourists, in order to provide my wife with the pleasure of my company on her birthday. I must say now, that I have not been to the city since the attack in 2001 when I worked at ground zero for a couple of days. It should be a fun day. There now... I have given you more than enough straight lines and fodder for quick, witty comebacks....so if you are in the mood...have at it!!! I won't hate you any less for trying.
  7. Leeo life certainly has a way of cracking you on the head now and then, does it not? Anyway, my sympathies and thoughts are with you.
  8. Bah, the correct phrase is gardez l'eau. No wonder the people downstairs don't like you. </font>
  9. A I'm sure they will find a way to get PBEM in there.
  10. Older than the age of consent lad ... unlike SOME here. Joe </font>
  11. Who said anything about human contact ? Give me a good dog, a bottle of Stolis, a comfortable room, and a box of doughnuts. That's all I need, life is complicated enough. </font>
  12. Lad, if I didn't experience them, they never happened! Anything the rest of you did during that period was a collective hallucination. </font>
  13. Who said anything about human contact ? Give me a good dog, a bottle of Stolis, a comfortable room, and a box of doughnuts. That's all I need, life is complicated enough.
  14. Life is good then...of course I'm assuming.... You still need to supply an Email address in your Profile, or no one in here...besides me of course...will respond to your ravings. Consider it a right of passage into a world of fellow war-mongering miscreants.
  15. You got it, it is what makes my life complete...how about youself?
  16. Don't even think about making nice. I made you look extra stupid in that other thread. You know, the other one. The one with all the stuff in it. </font>
  17. Look pal it’s all very nice watching you & the ‘lads’ rollicking around in the hay, pulling each others hair, comparing… ‘things’… but this here is a CHALLENGE thread Either get a PROPER location, an email address & a pair OR go hang out with the waffles or sumfink </font>
  18. He's a Nuuuu Yawker, what else can you expect? There is a certain amount of inate intelligence present, and a good command of the written English word, so he cannot be an incarnation. Let's keep him in the petri dish, and see what other spores he spawns.
  19. According to an OOB of the units involved in Operation Epsom, the 2nd Battalion The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders were part of the 227th Highland Infantry Brigade of the British VIII Corps. Mike Dorosh is correct, there were no Canadian Units participating in Operation Epsom according to the OOB I have.
  20. stikkypixie , you lout of a Squire!!!, I demand you write an AAR after the completion of out latest battle...in it you will glorify my abilities to command, you will relate how you faced such an impossible task that you would rather commit ritual suicide than face me on the battlefield. You will include glorious pictures of my tactical prowess...you will do all this and more lad, if you know what's good for you!!!
  21. NO!! the Dien Bien Phu battle was in 1954 you brainless twit!! You taught him???....you never taught me anything...I'm sad.
  22. 37mm excellent AAR, too bad you weren't in charge back in 1954....might have saved me a trip to clean up that Frog mess.
  23. Rejoice, young man, while you are young, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Follow the inclination of your heart and the desire of your eyes, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.
  24. Coy, sultry, and yet you still haven't sent a turn? I've seen your photo on the Justicar's site, Nidan, and you look like the nail that was driven into the Messiah's palm so that he could hang there for the amusement of the Marines! I know that I'm a horrible little man! Will you deny me? </font>
