  1. Don't own CMBB myself, but from what I recall from other posts: Have a large map. Autogenerate it with random damage Edit to remove undesired items, and reduce height or width to adjust the location of the damaged buildings (that's the reason for starting with a large map).
  2. You can place them in scenarios, or saved games folders. In the last case, they will appear before the whole list of scenarios
  3. >How to win M1A1 against the Panther ? With numbers; try to outflank it. >Do the rules of CMBB T-34 apply to the sherman ? Which rules are those? >* Is there an equivalent of the T-34/85 in CMBO ? Equivalent to exactly what? Americans have Sherman Jumbos, which are well armoured. And those afv with the 76 mm gun should be feared. >* Can I use the M10 like a StuG IIIg ? ie. >Flank, Rear shot. Short range than long range. I >noticed that it kills panthers. The M10 may come with a few tungsten rounds, which will kill big cats easily, specially tigers. >* VC, Cromwell, Firefly etc. What is the story >with these tanks ? are they unique in any way ? Firefly is a sherman with a 17 pdr gun, which is a good anti-tank weapon. The cromwell does not have any special feature, apart from being one of the most numerous afv in british service. * lastly i played a scenario in CMBO in which 12 shermans were lost to 3 panthers (elite). What do you think could have helped to make it easier to win ? some of the ideas i have which are not tested out: (a) tank rush ( better coordination with Troops. © keyholeing ? Go for its flanks. In fact, even a Stuart can kill a Panther from the flank. You may try also the M18. Thin armour, but good 76 mm gun. Have in mind that in CMBO, Germans do not have the advantage of superior optics, so Allies are not at a great disadvantage at long ranges.
  4. My old p200 won't run proper with CMBB. That's the reason why I don't buy it.
  5. Well, I would interpret experience levels this way: Conscript: men rushed to military service without proper training and motivation, including teens, oldmen, sick, injured and former prisoners. Examples: Static divisions. Green: troops recently arrived at the frontline without combat experience. This might be whole divisions or replacement troops. Sometimes it would be the NCOs who don't have enough experience (at least as officers), other the privates. Examples: American 4th Inf Div. Canadian 2nd Inf Div, Luftwaffe field divisions. Regular: the troops that form the base of an army. Have combat experience or a lot of training, or enough motivation for fighting. Examples: American 29th, German 353. Veteran: troops with a lot of combat experience, or intensive training in a particular task (crews, FOs, snipers). This may include whole formations. Examples: American 1st, German 352 and 21 Panzer. Crack: hand-picked troops for specialized tasks, usually young men in good physical condition and with combat experience. Paras and mountain troops would be the most obvious examples. Troops with an exceptional career involving months of continuous hard fighting may also be included here. Examples: rangers, elements of British 6th Ab. and German SS. Elite: exceptional individuals. Tank aces, heroes and the like. Example: Wittman. The experience of FOs, as it affects the delay time of arty, may also reflect its availability and responsiveness for the particular mission you are conducting.
  6. Keep in mind that the non-sloped armor of the tiger makes it vulnerable to tungsten rounds. If positioned in high ground, it will be harder to kill.
  7. With the scenario editor, you can generate random maps, just like quick battle maps, until you find one that suits you.
  8. Where is the site for The Proving Grounds?
  9. It depends on how important is to reach the woods. If it is a vital position, I would run. The less time you are in the open, the better. If you sneak or crawl, it will take ages to reach the woods, and the men will immediately stop if fired upon. The problem is with heavy weapons teams (zooks, MG and mortars) which cannot run, and if caught in the open are likely to panic.
  10. Dandelion, I sent you again 11a. Tell me if you receive it.
  11. I guess Dandelion refers to the probability of getting a "gun damage" result from a turret hit that does not knock out the tank. BTW Dandelion. Did you receive my last turn? [ April 09, 2003, 05:21 AM: Message edited by: klapton ]
  12. I'm not sure that you can now buy CMBO without buying CMBB, that is, out of the bundle pack.
  13. After looking at the site, I'm sorry to say that it is unacceptable to announce it, at least here.
  14. Let me translate this: ------------------ To all Spanish-speaking comrades of Combat Mission, I invite you to participate in the site devoted to this game Municion y Tactica [ammunition and tactics]. Through it, we hope to provide the Spanish player with resources, so he can both interact with his fellows and take part in ideas, tournaments, etc originated from the community that is trying to get shape. I hope that you will take part in this project from our community and that we can have a lot of joy between us. The address is http://municionytactica.tripod.com/ PD: sorry for the missing "enie"; my keyboard does not accept it. --------------- Bueno, pues me pasare por ahi a ver que tal. Saluditos.
  15. Interesting indeed, but I'm not sure the Americans can have conscript units.
  16. The purpose of buying the company is that it cost less points than buying each of its components individually. If you don't want all the stuff, you will have to buy your forces in detail.
  17. I don't have neither a P3, nor a P2. Just a plain pentium, running at 200 mhz, an dated back to 1997. When playing a large scenario (say, 5000 points), the Los tool becomes almost unusable, and moving through the map is a pain. With a 16000 points scenario, it will crash for sure. The size of pbem files is going to be large, for sure. In a 5000 points with lots of vehicles moving, they will be around 1 mb. Zipping them is not an option; I guess they are already somewhat compressed, and you don't get a significant compression rate.
  18. 1st Newbie tip: If you drop from a PBEM game, tell your opponent you do so.
  19. Only two units can be transported on a vehicle. If you have problems selecting units, switch to show vehicles off, select the unit, then switch to show vehicles on.
  20. A solution might be to give the double points if: -. The captured unit remains alive at the end of the scenario. -. The captured unit is killed by friendly fire.
  21. Against a stationary or moving target? Also, are the 17 rounds needed to merely hit or to knock out the target?
