  1. I have two scenarios ready for playtesting. If anyone is interested, please e-mail me. Treacherous forest: small, 20 turns Break-through: large, 35 turns If someone plays it pbem, I would like to be a lurker in such game (if players don't bother). Regards
  2. Certainly quite interesting on paper, but I will add some comments: 88's are not so good, unless they have a restricted field of view, because they rotate very sloooooow. Over that hill they may be in real trouble when facing two or three afv at different angles. Taking a bridge is hard against a human opponent, but not against the AI. I have seen the AI launching counterattacks across the bridge it was supposed to defend. Keep us informed of your progress. If you make a map, consider posting a picture here. Regards
  3. BTW my banshee is Creative Labs. Drivers come from 3dfx.
  4. I checked it again, and I get a curious result. With drivers 1.0.4 (Display drivers 4.12), and depending on the angle of the camera, I get either transparent or blocky smoke. This happens on both CMBO and CMBB. At a certain angle I get some transparent "clouds" and some blocky raising from the same burning vehicle. Building transparencies also fail at certain angles. This didn't happen with my previous drivers (1.0.2 I guess) on CMBO, but with them CMBB doesn't work.
  5. With my old banshee, I can see transparent smoke in CMBO, but not in CMBB
  6. I have a 3dfx Banshee, 16 mb, DirectX, drivers v1.04. Smoke graphics are quite ugly, nothing similar to what I have seen in pictures about the game.
  7. My drivers are 3dfx v1.04. The display drivers are v4.12 Regards
  8. >klapton - When you say '4.12' drivers, >what is the 3dfx designation for these drivers ? >Are they 3dfx Reference drivers or are the OEM (Creative, Diamond) or even 3rd party drivers >from an individual ? I will check what is the correct designation of the drivers. Apparently, they came from 3dfx and were designed for DirectX 7 (although I have DirectX 8). I have Win98, by the way
  9. What is the problem exactly? Define the size of your map, then place buildings near the center. Check with Preview that they are where you want. If not, return to the editor, relocate them and Preview again.
  10. Think small; don't try to do a MEGA-battle the first time. They are not necessarily funny. Spend time ensuring that the map looks fine and realistic. Check if roads and waterways are well placed. Avoid very large areas covered with the same terrain; they look dull. Do the scenario for a specific type of play, either PBEM or against AI. Rarely a scenario is good for both. Be aware of the weaknesses of the AI. Look for a good initial setup for both sides. Specifically, check that all squads are in C&C, and that units won't fire on the enemy at the start of the first turn (unless you want it intentionally). Test it, and look for testers in the forum.
  11. I also had the problem with CMBB exiting to desktop after clicking on Play Game. My system is: P200 MMX, 64Mb RAM, Banshee 16 Mb, DirectX 8 I was using drivers 4.10. I updated to 4.12 using a file obtained from web site Voodoo Files, and now CMBB runs fine. Only the textures on vehicles, smoke and fire seem to be somewhat low-quality.
  12. I was curious about what this thread is about... And well, I hope it never disappears; it is needed to keep the other threads readable
  13. If you want a tester, send te scenario to me: klapton@navegalia.com
  14. For sure I will play both. I enjoy both the Eastern and Western Fronts, and the new CMBB engine will probably place my old 3dfx Banshee into a tight strain.
  15. What happens with LMGs in Heavy SMG squads? They carry 2 MG42, but the firepower is something like this for the LMGs (don't remember exactly): 40 m: 40 100 m: 70 Squads with only 1 LMG show a firepower of 50 at 40m for the MG42.
  16. Hi, I'm looking for playtesters of my scenario Louvigny, depicting a Canadian attack during Operation Goodwood. If interested, please, send an e-mail to me klapton@navegalia.com
