  1. TB, got the scoresheet, but 2 of my results are missing from the 36 in the list (Emilville and Epron). Let me know if I need to resend them, Emilville was finished a few weeks ago.
  2. Finally finished Epron tonight. This should be the last game in the group. Did better than expected in two games and a bit worse in one, so I'm looking forward to the result file from TB. Many thanks to TB for hosting, WineCape for sponsoring and all my opponents for good games and always returning files quickly.
  3. I've never seen anything above 2.5 megs, it would be nice if BFC could comment this one. If it's not a bug, then an explanation of what's causing that huge file size so that I can avoid it. I have the same opinion as Andreas about what causes the big file sizes, but from what I can understand that shouldn't be the cause here.
  4. I'm curious on how the Nabla scoring system behaves for very unbalanced scenarios. Let's assume 25 percent of all games results in an autosurrender. There will be a lot of scores in the area 85-15 (for those autosurrender games) and then a gap down to those who managed to keep the game going until the end, roughly score 70-30. A player who almost made it (autosurrender last turn, lost a single man more than what was needed to keep the morale up) ends up with a 17-83 loss. The next one is the one who just made it, morale is on the edge after the last turn, resulting in a 28-72 loss. Will this 11 point difference be very obvious with the Nabla system? The two losers above performed almost equally good (normally only 1 pts difference without autosurrender), but will Nabla correct that? Otherwise, winning or loosing the whole tournament will depend on being on the right side of the cut in that unbalanced scenario. Nothing bad about the Nabla system, just curious if it can handle the above scenario as the it is designed to take care of unbalanced scenarios.
  5. Not that it has changed from CMBO, but two improvements I'd like to see in future patches. Did a quick search but didn't find anything on the subject. First, I think it looks odd to see the notation 0:60 at the end of the turn. I'm much more used to 1:00 for a full minute and would therefore prefer that. Second, clock always goes from 0:00 to 0:60. I'd like the clock to show the total time in the battle. So, last turn of a 25 minute battle the clock would start at 24:00 and end at 25:00. Of course these are just my personal preferences and might have something to do with I don't know if 12am is noon or midnight
  6. Lots of good stuff. Here's a small thing. In the setup screen there's a field with fitness and something else. (Can be toggled to buy individual tanks or platoon.) These two fields don't fit ito the area, they're too big. Could it the size of these two fields (pulldown menues) are static and therefore in a high resolution (1280x???) they are too big? (Haven't tried low resolution to test this theory.)
  7. ssg, I think Software Express uses the same price as they did for CMBO, where they sold the US version. So, it includes shipping from the US. Have you talked to them? They might have the CDV version cheaper(?) Ginza.se has it for 499 SEK (+P&P), release date october 11.
  8. Well, it's been awhile since the gold version was produced and there are some pretty big ones that needs to be corrected. Not that I require it now, but an rough estimated date would be nice. Is it in beta yet? I assume the demo will get a patch of its own.
  9. Good point, but wouldnt that be more of a company HQ tank? The platoon HQ tank would only need the standard atena to communicate with the platoon, and perhaps another one for company communications. They for sure dont have a wooden gun on the platoon level. Or maybe that should be an option for your opponent Chad</font>
  10. Ultima Online Screenshot Utility: http://www.hh.iij4u.or.jp/~kmatuoka/uosu/indexe.html Developed for Ultima Online, where you obviously can't Alt-tab and save the screenshot. Edit: Don't worry about the japanese signs, they're not part of the tool. It's all in english. [ September 26, 2002, 02:20 PM: Message edited by: Visom ]
  11. Thanks Andreas, missed that in the demo. Ryan, if you want to get multiple screenshots without exiting CM try UOSU. You can take as many screenshots as you like and they'll be stored on the HD (numbered either in sequence 001, 002... or with a timestamp). Great tool for screenshots, I don't understand those who prefers to take one shot at a time.
  12. Flag rush. Defending player still holds all the flags. Attacker has taken heavier casualties than the defender and both players are about equally strong. There's no way he can proceed the attack without great loss of men and later suffer from the counterattack. Ceasefire is the way out since neither player wants to attack, so the defender offers a ceasefire. Sure, fine with me says the attacker and makes a flag rush, thereby contesting the three flags and manage to get a draw instead of a major loss.
  13. gunnersman, that is still possible. Up to you if you want to use Esc or Alt-tab Another feature I want: Possibility to withdraw ceasefire request. If I think I have control of all the flags and spot a hiding enemy half squad I want to call off the offer until I have eliminated that unit. There are other reasons as well that can make me change my mind...
  14. Don't know about US routines, but I would report it to USPS asap. Mostly to avoid any later problems when they show you the fine print that says 'Any claims on damages must be made 24 hours after the delivery.' Also, Madmatt seems to be very helpful in these matters if you send him a private email.
  15. Well, bugs will of course be fixed, so I'm throwing in some new features... Removal of the password protection after the last turn, when only the AAR remains. Survival points eligable squads. Similar to CMBOs exit eligable troops, but they are rewarded not if they exit the map but if they survive the scenario and stay on the map. Possibility to run it from a command line. Possibility to 'accept' a movie only turn without actually watching the movie. (When I receive a movie it would be nice to just accept it and return the result file and then later on watch the movie when the next file arrives). This would speed up PBEM games, as we could then tell our email clients to accept and return the file immediately without touching the PC.
  16. Official date is still October 4. If your retailer says otherwise I assume it's because he's not on the list of retailers that should get the first copies. Regarding the later release of the UK version I can only speculate. It's not only the SS stuff, but the manual is not the same as the BFC one either. I guess CDV first produces an awful lot of german versions to build a stock, they don't want to produce german version one day and english the next. So, they need 2-3 weeks to produce enough german copies. If there were more german orders than they were prepared for the english won't go to printing until a few extra german versions have been printed. They don't have unlimited printing capacity.
  17. Thanks Kije. Seems like it's only a few unlucky gamers got the incomplete manual. I assume (hope)they can get a new one just as the europeans can 'upgrade' their.
  18. Is it only the Mac version that have missing appendices? I would be surpriced if there is a difference, but it looks that way judging by the posts here. Could anyone please say if it's only Mac version and/or if all manuals are faulty? (Not talking about the CDV version...)
  19. I wouldn't mind keeping it as it is. Part of the fun with random is that you're forced to by stuff that are good in all types of terrain/daytime/weather. IMHO the best solution would be to have a flag: Keep random parameters secret during purchase? Yes/No. Shouldn't that make everyone (except Charles) happy?
  20. Sorry if this has been covered before, but is there any chance the password authentication can be removed for the AAR report? I mean where you get the AAR and a possibility to watch the final status of the map. There might be some aspects I haven't thought of and it might be hard with the current engine. But as both players can see both sides I don't really understand why the password is needed. To keep it secret for a third party? The main reason for this is that I like to store the AARs. It would be much less work if I didn't need to keep the password for each file. Second reason is that it can then be sent to tournament organisers (if they want to verify the score) without attaching a password.
