  1. Hi Guys, I've been trying to download the mods, but none of the links work for me. Is it still under revision, or is there a problem with the page? Oops. Don't mind me. Just needed a page refresh! Grim [ November 07, 2005, 06:02 PM: Message edited by: Grimthane ]
  2. Hi Guys, are you still set for a release today? I have the rules and it looks good. Thanks for all your work. Grim
  3. Martin, does this mean that it is currently available as a PDF download? Tightwads half a world away would like to know! If not, is there an estimated timeline - Christmas, for example? Thanks, Grim
  4. Sripe, are you there? I've been sending emails with no response Grim
  5. One way to allow scenario designers, particularly of the tutorial scenario, to give more detailed advice and suggestions is simply to tweak the Briefing feature a bit. I'd suggest allowing the designer to add a Briefing for any turn he chooses, the arrival of which can be flagged when the turn comes up - "Your briefing has been updated" This allows the designer to put in his preferred level of hand-holding (This turn, Move platoons one and two towards the woods. Hold your Shermans at the ridge). It also allows designers to note significant developments, such as reinforcements, in more detail. This would have been very handy in Moltke Bridge, for all of you who didn't spot those Paras for two turns... Of course this is not context responsive, and could be done with the existing Briefing to some extent, but it would at least put the Tutorial advice in-game.
  6. OtherMeans, I've had a turn advice from you, but no turn's posted there. I'll resend tomorrow if need be. Grim
  7. I see no incongruity. Everyone knows the Germans had stormtroopers
  8. OtherMeans, could you please check your spam filter? I'm getting your emails, but you don't seem to be getting mine.
  9. I would like to see the first one. This year, if possible.
  10. Assuming hiccups didn't turn into whooping cough, could you reveal to the unwashed masses *where* we can find our Round 1 AARs? I'd have to agree with Walpurgis Nacht. As defender on Moltke, it was only my consummate skill that allowed me to come away with a draw in such a Russian-friendly scenario. Not.
  11. *Cues GaJ* ... silence *Cues again, more enthusiastically* ... more silence
  12. Pardon me for doubting, but are you so sure, Elmar? I always hunt bailed crews on principle, but I'm not sure they're worth so much.
  13. Richie, good job with those scenarios! They were my clear favourites, among a good bunch. The reinforcements in Moltke were an excellent touch IMHO (perhaps warn in the briefing to look out for backup, for those with tunnel vision!). I would have liked the setup area for Axis to extend to the riverbank, to allow hiding behind the smoke there. St Eds was a nailbiter. Most educational, though I think night and no fog would have been hard enough!
  14. That's an understatement jeff. Anyone who played St Ed's in ROWV can tell you that you can easily kill more of your own than theirs, especially if you use Area Fire for suppression while assaulting a building...
  15. Strangely, I seem to have done best against the people who won my group. Does this mean I am too cunning for my own good against lesser mortals? Surely Nabla should now be taking into account the plight of those pitted against serial ROW winners. Bring on Handicapped Nabla.
  16. I think major congrats are in order for Walpurgisnacht (again) for kicking the butts of everyone in his group. Londoner too. And to Sripe for the most comprehensive whitewash. The competition for the wooden spoon seems much tougher. I expect it gives satisfaction to many readers to note the success of a certain voluble Canadian. I'd be interested to see the variation for each scenario. I'd guess Triangle and Moltke were the most all-or-nothing.
  17. My virtual money's on D-Day. We've all played the fine attempts at D-Day scenarios for CMx1, and the limitations have been glaring. What better way to show off the new hex-less terrain than with cliffs? The US marketing is probably easier than for any other infantry battle. And Tigers could be present, just to please aka_tom_w.
  18. User error? Easy to hit J by mistake. Of course if you had saved the orders and could repeat the effect...
  19. I seem to recall GreenAsJade made some rocky mods specifically for desert terrain. the link is http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=30;t=002122#000000
  20. Please excuse my ignaorance, but what was the job description of the Hornist? I have a very silly picture in my head of a company of VWs storming into battle led by a bugler on a Harley.
  21. Carl, I think it was Redwolf who tested the LOS thing, and my recollection was that the spotter only needed LOS at the time of targetting and when the spotting round came down. I thought you didn't need continuous LOS to get a tight pattern (makes sense - once you've given coords, there isn't much the FO can do until the rounds start arriving).
  22. Do my eyes decieve me, or was the forum from which kenny posted those nice Panther pics seriously engaged in a discussion of what style of track hangers are mounted on the turrets of LSSAH Panthers? Somehow it is a comfort to know that someone, somewhere is an expert on such things...
