  1. I have noticed that when folks post links in messages they do not always look something like this: http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=8 Instead they look more like this: Try here The only difference is that their shortened version works and mine doesn't. How do they do that? Is it back-engineered alien technology or what? I have XP, and IE 6. Thanks.
  2. M'Lord, The system requirements for CMBB are the same (I believe) as they are for CMBO. Now with that said, you MAY wish to upgrade some depending upon your current set up. However in most circumstances, (if you need to upgrade anything) -upgrading to a new video card with say a NVIDIA chipset should just about do it nicely. If you are looking for more detailed information, I suggest you try the Tech Support forum here: http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=8 [ May 07, 2002, 10:15 AM: Message edited by: Le Tondu ]
  3. Wow. Great responses. I have learned something here. Thank you one and all!
  4. I was wondering what your opinions are about a time on the Eastern Front when each side was relatively the same in terms of quality of tanks, etc... I know that the Germans early on had the advantage and maybe the Soviets had the upper hand at the end. So, somewhere in the middle, I presume. It would seem to me that this time of relative parity (if it existed) would be an excellent time for Meeting Engagement scenarios. My buddy and I like it when each side is equal to each other and the winner ends up being the one who is the most resourceful, tactically speaking. Do you think that the CMBB game manual will have suggestions for this sort of thing? Thanks. [ May 03, 2002, 10:19 AM: Message edited by: Le Tondu ]
  5. I prefer the Sherman. The Sherman has a lot more variations in CMBO than the mkIV has. The gyrostabilizer is certainly a help and that Jumbo is nice with a 76mm gun. Then there is that Firefly. Yup, I'll take a Sherman -even though it has draw backs. I hope this helps.
  6. Well said Shep! [ May 01, 2002, 11:17 AM: Message edited by: Le Tondu ]
  7. Yeah but that doesn't speak well at all for the Dodge Durango. 13-14 mpg??? That s*cks. Well at least Bush and Cheney are raking it in. I bet they're laughing all the way to the bank.
  8. It seems to me that IF CM was like AA, then it wouldn't be CM, would it?? I like things the way that BTS wants them in regards to this issue. Right now, I'm real happy with CMBO and I'm certain to be real happy with CMBB when it comes out. I like things the way that they are.
  9. Well said TC. Well said. That has to be the clearest bit of sanity in this entire thread. Thanks.
  10. CM is at 57.97% with 200 votes. CC is at 16.81% with 58 votes.
  11. I'm sure that you mean Quick Battle. Excellent idea. That would get my vote.
  12. Now, those are very fair questions. While I concur that the CMBO manual isn't bad, it could do to have some added features. It might not be an easy adventure, but here is my two cents in answering your questions Holien. 1.) It would have been nice to have seen a unit list with the different unit costs in terms of points listed. I know that some tweaks may have been made up to the present version CMBO, but that was for a game that has been publicly acknowledged to have beeen released "unfinished". Now we have CMBB that won't be released until "it is ready". (Good news, IMO.) I presume that means that it will be pretty much done when it is released. No reason NOT to publish the different unit costs now. Sure, it may take some pages in the manual (assuming that there will be one), but they would be highly welcomed indeed. 2.) How about a little more developed section regarding tatics? Newbies would especially like it. With all of the work done in this area since the release of CMBO, this should be a breeze. 3.) How about a section about modding and how to do it? That shouldn't take up too much room. 4.) A list showing the composition of the different platoons, companies, battlions. How about showing how many men are in each and what kind of equipment they used? OK, I'm done. Time to get back into my bunker.
  13. Some people fire off all of their smoke ammo right at the beginning of each game so this cannot happen. IMO, it is a bug -plain and simple. Some won't agree and others won't say anything just to not rock the boat, but CMBO has a problem with smoke. You aren't the only one to see this. Unfortunately, BTS won't fix it for CMBO, but I sure hope that they fix it for CMBB.
  14. Schrullenhaft, Yes, exactly. There was two of everything. Two mouse pointers that moved in sync, etc... I removed the perfs file and then I put the resolution to 800X600 and the result was even worse. It was absolutely unreadable. I put it back to 1024x768 and then I persisted until I found and installed my NEC XE15 monitor and...... ........it worked! WOOOO HOOOO!!! No more Default Monitor for me. Thanks for your help.
  15. Hello all. I've recently upgraded from W98SE to Windows XP. I have gone through everything and the very last thing that I need to get up and running is CMBO. (I'd be happier if it was the other way around.) I have: Windows XP (Home Edition) AMD 700mhz Duron A7V Motherboard 256MB PC133 SDRAM GeForce2 Ti video card with 64MB 28.32 NVIDIA Detonator Drivers installed 48X Toshiba CD-ROM 7+GB of HD space left a 350W power supply Soundbalster 128 PCI NEC Multisync XE15 monitor (XP tells me that the Monitor Type is a Default Monitor with 60hz refresh rate.) I've read the accompanying page to this discussion board and have downloaded and installed the latest NVIDIA driver. I've even searched through the different threads about XP to see if anyone had the same problem. Here is the situation. When I double click my CM icon on my desk top (like I always did with W98SE), I get two of everything. Two quick Time movies then two tank girl menu screens -all on my single monitor screen. I didn't go any further than that and exited. I did try hitting the ESC button to minimize CM and went back several times, but that didn't work. Any ideas guys? Thanks. 16. I believe that I read it somewhere once that CMBB will be different in regards to the color of bases. Anyone know for sure? I like to play with the bases turned on so I can see where the "enemy" is. The Americans show up real well with their dayglo green bases and I have no problem finding them. The others are harder as they are more earth tone colored. Wouldn't it be more fair (in terms of gameplay) for all sides to get their bases either earth-toned colored or brightly colored instead a mixed situation like in CMBO?
  17. A thought just crossed my mind that if a FT tank is pierced by a bullet from say an automatic weapon, a second one (maybe a tracer round) might be right behind the first to ignite the flammable liquids. If more than one guy is firing at a FT team with semi-automatic weapons, then the chances seem the same -I think. Now, I would certainly want to disable the equipment and hence kill the operater of the FT instead of just killing the operater because, someone else could come along and pick up the FT equipment and still use it. Just some thoughts.
  18. I just did a test of 10 German flame thrower teams on an island without any cover surrounded by an American Rifle Battalion that had only small arms and machine guns. The Americans had their mortars, spotters, and bazooka teams excluded. Because of the water (which was on all four sides of the Germans), the Americans were out of range of the German flame throwers. After several tests, NONE of the flame throwers exploded. Not one. I certainly hope that this gets fixed for CMBB. -either before OR after it gets released. It doesn't matter to me. I say this because I think that it would be cool to see one explode like I'm sure that they did. [ March 29, 2002, 06:55 PM: Message edited by: Le Tondu ]
