  1. Whilst we're blathering; It seems a shame(tinfoil hat plot?) that we can never get a few years out of our rigs before we have to go to a full blown upgrade. I find it upsetting! Here is an opportunity for a vid card manufacturer to capitalize on that segment of the market still struggling along with their 250 watt power supply, P4 1.6 and a G3 vid card. Sell a card with it's own transformer and watch it fly out the door. Would they not be cutting down considerably on the internal heat problem? We could upgrade without having to get a loan.... I've vented, I'm done... KC
  2. Ahh, I wasn't dreaming, I was confused. Thanx for the correction. KC
  3. This is not a CM related question, I'm positive I recently read that certain FX series cards are shipping with their own dedicated power cord which you have to plug into an existing wall socket. Can someone confirm this for me? I've tried to find mention of it on the Nvidia website with no luck, I've looked on the MSI website and they don't make specific mention of this. Was I dreaming? Thanx in advance, KC
  4. Yes, whichever is closest controls the troops. Which means in certain situations you can create an uber platoon and use them as you wish. For example, you have a Co.HQ with good stealth skills, you can take a Pioneer squad, a rifle squad, a LMG, an AT team and slink off into the woods and set 'em up to create a much needed diversion, ambush etc. mix them as needed, I've used this "platoon building" many times. The only downside is the nuisance factor of "double clicking" your chosen squads Platoon HQ and telling the whole platoon to go in the opposite direction and up jumps your hidden rifle/Pioneer squad and marchs off, you've got to be careful of that. KC
  5. Col. Lee; Even though I'm neither of the two you asked, here is a reference on Vid card prices from last week. Video card prices Go with an AGP card, 5600 series or up. If the greatest demand(game?) on your PC is going to be CM, a 5600 will work just fine. KC
  6. Rob They have 3 under $200.00. I like the AOpen unit mainly because I'm using one of their Mobo's and having absolutely zero problems. Just let me know if I can be of help(e-mail me through this board). KC
  7. Col. You need an Accelerated Graphics *Port*, I'm guessing you can determine this with a phone call to Dell? KC
  8. Rob, I was pointing out the FX5600XT for $150.00. This is a much better card than the 5200. KC
  9. Rob, Avoid the 5200 series, the Ti4600 is a better card. Check this place out, it's got pick up in Halifax, I could pick it up and ship it to you. Handlings on me, shipping is on you. KC
  10. If, the 'move' command doesn't turn to 'embark' when you rest it on the truck, the AT gun will not embark, it's to heavy. Back your transport as close as possible for embarking. KC
  11. Once again, sorry no can do. But if your playing a human opponent who plays as I do, watch for the tank in a group that is lagging behind. KC
  12. You cannot target specific areas of tanks, humans etc......what you do, is pray a lot . KC
  13. You'll probably have more luck at the Opponent Finders forum. KC
  14. You'll probably have more luck at the Opponent Finders forum. KC
  15. Feel free to e-mail me with yr little secret --- I'd like to know where my oversight is glaring from. </font>
  16. It truly is a remarkable map. How well it plays out it is to early to tell. Already though, I feel there is a glaring oversight which I will mention after the game. I wouldn't want Ken to get too overconfidant. Kudos on the map! KC
  17. Little Pete is right. CMx2 has not been released yet. The Game Pusher seems to be *over* selling. Check out the BattleFront homepage and compare CD covers to see which game he is trying to sell you. KC
  18. Well... A biased opinion might be better than no opinion, (as long as you don't Nuke the attacker's set-up zone). Or... If you can find someone to take a side against me, I could play. I don't play against the AI too much anymore, especially larger scenarios. It's a waste of time. Ken </font>
  19. This has been discussed in length many many times and as ususal there are two supporting camps. What worked best for me was that I just refused to play any scenarios with lots of vehicle waypoint plotting down long and narrow roads. This probably means that I'm missing some excellant scenarios out there but I absolutely refuse to deal with what I perceive to be a ludicrous and crippled transport system. KC
  20. Hungh? It's on the main forum page under the heading "Opponent Finder forum" I suggest also that you count up 3 -4 threads from this one and read the "Newbie FAQ" thread. You'll find all kinds of useful info within. KC
  21. The easy way is to go to the opponent finder forum. You only need the IP if your going to play TCP/IP which is head to head and your opponent will provide that. PBEM is play by e-mail. KC
  22. Err, sorry to interrupt, but is the Master TNT chucker still around? I haven't peeked in here for quite awhile, what with all the foreign objects and nasties flying around, and it just occured to me that his pleasantries seem to be missing. KC quickly steps back and closes door. KC
  23. A friend of mine is trying to design a map with vineyards included. The problem is he doesn't know how to create a vineyard, could someone help? KC
  24. A real life observation. My father, who was with Canadian Transport but assigned to the Engineers for most of the war he saw, claimed that he and all is buddies carried the Sten. His words, "it was the most reliable of 'em all". I assumed he meant sub-machine guns. He was in Europe June '44-May-'46. KC
