  1. No worries guys, we are still testing and tweaking wherever applicable... even this feedback is helpful since after staring at code for so long sometimes you are bound to miss the obvious
  2. That's a tricky question as most usual improvements to AI turn length, i.e. if the algorithms are already optimized, come at the cost of the AI itself. At the moment the AI is optimized for the current map size and number of units etc., i.e. it balances out speed vs quality and perhaps this is something I could add as a toggle down the road for those very large campaigns... more speed but less quality.
  3. Thanks guys as the kudos is always appreciated While things are still busy over here development is proceeding nicely and I think everyone is in for a nice treat with the expansion. For a brief update, the new weather dynamic has worked out really well and by separating the ground and air effects for weather we can now have units that slog along in the mud while no longer limiting air attacks... unless of course there is also rain/fog, snow, or sandstorms in the area which now ground aircraft. The FoW mechanism has also been updated to take into account this secondary weather effect which essentially prevents air unit spotting to and from rain/fog, snow and sandstorm tiles. Air unit combat is also similarly updated. There is of course MUCH more as well as a few surprises not mentioned in the original announcement, including an improved AI that, for example, now takes into account possible return fire damage on subsueqent turns as well as a new concentrated fire algorithm that prioritizes the targeting of units that have been previously attacked by other units. For one example of how this has already improved the AI, with my latest build that the testers will receive later today, the Axis AI took Poland in 2 turns (default difficulty) which was the first I've ever seen In terms of a general update, hopefully by sometime next week I'll be able to put together a new screenshot pack for SC2 Weapons and Warfare as well as detailed list of changes, new campaigns, as well as what to expect in terms of how some of the new features will play out. Until then here is a screehshot highlighting some of the changes to be found in the expansion:
  4. It is often underappreciated but sometimes a reboot solves a lot of problems! Glad to see it is working Ok now and that you and your brother enjoy the game... happy conquering
  5. AmosGraber, can you tell me what OS you are running on? Also can you send me a screenshot of what it looks like in game? If you hit PrtScrn and then paste the clipboard contents in MS-Paint this should do the trick. Simply save as a BMP or JPG and send me the file at support@furysoftware.com Hubert
  6. AmosGraber, Sorry to hear about the trouble. Strange error as this was something that appeared in the very first version of the game and should be resolved with the later patches. Can you confirm that v1.06 is indeed properly applied by double checking the version number in game, i.e. displayed at the bottom right hand corner of the MAIN MENU screen? Hubert
  7. Not really, if it is a friendly debate about the game there is no issue... but if it goes beyond SC2, the User Agreement and I prefer people debate these subjects outside of the forums because the truth is, 99.9% of the time, wrt to the debate itself, I don't have the time to really care As you can probably imagine, things are pretty busy on my end at the moment and often I will receive a heads-up that a particular thread is getting out of hand... when I have a chance I'll double check and if I agree I'll just lock it up and ask everyone to move on.
  8. Ok guys before this gets out of hand I'm just going to lock it up.
  9. Pretty much what Terif suggests and if these fail you might want to also try compressing the files before you send and uncompressing afterwards as some mail servers strip these types of files of their data.
  10. If I remember correctly, for land Free units, they only work if they make it to friendly territory other than the one that currently surrendered while naval do not have this restriction. Could this be the issue?
  11. Yes it is automatic and depends on the original convoy relationship set out in the script... i.e. in this case the original relationship is between the UK and Iraq
  12. Very odd looking error... I would suggest a reboot to see if it resolves the issue, otherwise it could be the graphics for the Mod itself causing the problem
  13. Borskook, 1. Not for the initial release but perhaps down the road 2. Pricing is still being worked out so unfortunately I can't give you a definitive answer on that just yet
  14. Liam, all extra terrain, resources and units will be available via the Editor for inclusion on any campaign/scenario as with SC2 I am trying to move away from hardwiring as much as possible
  15. Not sure just yet as we are just working on the English release for now but if it is possible we will certainly do so
  16. Problem is it is getting harder and harder to put this type of game in retail... often retail publishers are not interested or the offers do not make any financial sense. Reasons for this vary but publishing strategy PC games in general is a lot tougher these days relative to 3-D shooters or Console titles etc., and perhaps this was one of the reasons Walkon folded. Walkon was a good fit as it was actually interested in SC2 but either way we'll see what we can do for this and future titles.
  17. Just to confirm, no-one is using this anymore? If so I will un-sticky it.
  18. Not sure about the German localization just yet as the regular German publisher of Strategic Command folded last year. If there are any updates we will of course let everyone know.
  19. Hi Bruce, Sorry to hear about the trouble. I would also suggest installing DirectX v9.0c as it seems to resolve issues with some games running on Vista. FYI, DirectX 10 and DirectX 9 can both be installed and run exclusively from each other on Vista... this is a change from older implementations of DirectX since DirectX 10 is a completely new set of instructions separate from older versions. Hope this helps, Hubert
  20. Hi Targul, Sorry to hear about the trouble. Sounds like a corrupted download. Have you tried downloading it from a different file mirror and/or trying it on another computer if possible?
  21. Hi Tegron, Sorry to hear about the trouble... maybe this link will help: http://www.battlefront.com/elicense_faq.html#lictrol If not contact elicense@battlefront.com for more help. Hubert
  22. Couldn't agree more and it has actually been a nice transformation. Civil discourse appears to be the norm for these boards and it is nice to see that much of the early *days of disruption* seem to be mostly behind us. Over the years I've had the pleasure of meeting some interesting people through these forums and have even had the pleasure of working with some class acts through Beta testing... Dave, Bill, Blashy and Edwin, the core group of testers, have been nothing short of solid characters and their dedication, work ethic and mostly very long volunteer hours to help ensure a quality product can never be fully described and/or properly appreciated. Hats off to these guys and everyone else who has become part of the SC2 community... and for my part I just hope I can continue to deliver up to standard. Hubert
  23. I can attest that what I am testing in beta for the next patch the game AI is much better. What patch?
  24. Ian, sorry to hear about the trouble although off hand from the description of your error I don't think it is related to the eLicense system. To resolve the issue I would try a couple of things... first make sure that the file 'dx7vb.dll' is in fact located in your SC2 installation directory as that will tell us if you have the latest version installed. If not you will have to either download the latest patch and apply it to the game. At this point, if you do in fact have the 'dx7vb.dll' file in the SC2 installation directory I would ask you to launch the game under an Administrator log in (for the first run) or at least "Run as an Administrator" by right clicking the EXE or shortcut to the game and selecting the "Run As an Administrator" option. Note, if you are not currently logged in as an Administrator it will ask you for the appropriate Administrator Username and Password. After that the game should register the 'dx7vb.dll' file and it will run smoothly after that. Hope this helps, Hubert
