  1. Thank you Wicky, now it works ! [ July 14, 2003, 08:50 AM: Message edited by: Thin Red Line ]
  2. Thanks, if i can get cmbb to run on the mac, it will be just fine
  3. I would like to play the demo on a Mac (to check if the complete game is compatible), it's an OSX so i did the delete Classic RAVE thing but when i enter the game, the Battlefront Logo looks huge (bigger than my screen) and i get a "You need a 800 X 600 minimum resolution" message. My desktop resolution is bigger than that, i tried all sizes, but nothing works, when i enter the game i always get the same message. In a Mac there doesn't seem to be a "prefs" file. Any idea what i'm supposed to do ?
  4. Is it possible for a player to start a PBEM on a PC and continue it after several turns on a Mac ?
  5. When choosing a scenario, i'm always influenced by the title . If it sounds promising or evocative, i generally give it a try. It is somehow difficult to be attracted by the " Polishiskovko v1.05 " kind of scenario title. Best titles i've found so far : Regiment Dies Ten Times Our backs to the Volga Crown of Thorns Danuble Blues In scenarios a good packaging is fundamental too .
  6. I got a platoon of those in a scenario but i didn't dare to throw them in the battle. They look like fragile bathtubes.
  7. Great, nice to see those CMBO gems available for CMBB.
  8. Louie, Where you the author ? I hope you didn't misunderstood me, when i said very interesting, it was not ironic at all. I found the map really good, i spend time studying them, not playing though, just imagining the cuirassiers brigades assaultings the russian or english strongpoints, the lightning of hundreds of bayonettes, the roar of the 12pdrs batteries, and wishing there was a Napoleonic CM... Especially they looked relatively small to me, knowing the number of men who fought there. Men density was probably extraodinary on those battlefields. An excellent work.
  9. It's an excellent utility, can't imagine managing my 6-10 games without it.
  10. Hitler admired Napoleon. First thing he visited in Paris was the Emperor's mausolée at the Invalides. But saying Napoleon is the Hitler of its time is nonsense. Napoleon left a great heritage to France : many among today's french institutions and the "Code Civil" (Civil Law) date back to Napoleon's time. Despite his mistakes, he was certainly not inhuman and ignorants only can deny he was an exceptional tactician and one of the greatest military leaders of the modern era.
  11. Hello CDIC, First of all, thank you for this great scenario, as i said on the Depot it is the most enjoyable i've played, (i play exclusively scenarios in PBEM.) There is another thread on the CMBB forum about lenght of this scenario but as this is the scenario forum and as i like things in good order i'll answer here. NEST OF SPOILERS BELOW A few remarks from a german player point of view. : I wish the briefing could provide some information about the fact that the russian start with limited forces and get reinforcement later, because if the geman player doesn't know it so normally he will be prudent. Of course a good tactic is to concentrate troops, but as many of them come as reinforcements it may be difficult because they appear on different places. Why not get them all at start ? If not, I would like to see more information about reinforcement composition , i was really suprised by the quantity i get. I couldn't plan appropriately. If only i had known The german have a fair quantity of tanks , but few of them are actually able to fight the T-34s/KVs (i.e with a 75/L43 gun). Given that the T-34 can take them all at any distance on this map it is hard to match them. The T-34s have terrifying anti-infantry capabilities with the cannister shot ! (it's an engine limitation). More generally i think they may be too many tanks, both sides in the scenario (though i don't know from an historical point of view ) The sewer movement is very slow : 15-20 turn for a decent distance ! Not really usable in a 30 turns scenario. Anyway, enough complaining, and again, despite those critics i think it's an excellent scenario i learnt much from it and i had a great time playing it. After all, the germans at Stalingrad were never able to control the city [ June 28, 2003, 06:29 AM: Message edited by: Thin Red Line ]
  12. I completely agree on the time limitation part. Our back to the Volga is an excellent exeample of a wonderful scenario, with many forces but the turn numbers quite low (especially considering reinforcements are coming after 5 or 10 turns !) Sewer movement is recommended in the attacker briefing but to impossible practically due to lack of time. My City of ruins is also incredibly short considering the task. I increased it by 10 turns prior to play it but i still easily won as the defender. There has already been a few threads about this problem, i hope to see it will have some effect on the coming scenarios. [ June 27, 2003, 09:06 AM: Message edited by: Thin Red Line ]
  13. Thank you Andreas. I sincerely hope CMAK will be be an opportunity for some of this forum members to revise their "judgement" by learning more on the immense sacrifices and the victories of the French in Italy.
  14. La Grande Armée à Austerlitz has been released and a sequel (Histwar 1806, you know the " initial success " at Auesterdt and Iena) is going to be released end of 2003. At least that's what i understood.
  15. It would be useless, and the " appropriate accent " part would be absurd. Subtitles could be acceptable, but i don't think in CM the player needs to understand what the troops are saying.
  16. Exactly , they just wanted to play the (of course rare, minor and only due to luck and favourable circumstances) " initial military success " of " butcher " Napoleon on the battlefield. [ June 26, 2003, 03:59 AM: Message edited by: Thin Red Line ]
  17. I've recently witnessed an incredible temptative to escape from a german Luftwaffe POW squad. They were guarded by a russian SMG squad but they suddenly started to run towards their lines (distant from 1,5km ). The guards simply shoot them in the back.
