Ain't life grand?

Where did the eyes go PawBroon? Please tell me they were an option you will include with the release! They looked cool.
 2. Damn that looks sweet. I want it, I want it, I WAN'T IT NOW!!!
 3. BUMP Anyone interested can check out the SuperTed vs Vader's Jester AAR at the newbie AAR thread. [ 01-06-2002: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 4. Okay gents, here are the results of the SuperTed vs Vader's Jester side match: After much trash talking on my part, we begain our double blind match using Gregory Mudry's Fatherland scenario. It was ranked well for PBEM and force balance at the Scenario Depot. I played Volks on D and Ted played US on attack. Turn one started out with Ted advancing Greyhounds against a small village that I held while using area fire from two M8 howizers. The SPGs caused a great deal of damage to the builings and my strongpoints in the ville. Within a couple of turns, my forward defensive line had been badly crippled and Ted's demolition work had reduced most of the town to rubble. To make matters worse, one of my two Marader IIs was caught in a face off against one of his Greyhounds. After questionable gunnery (3 misses) from my veteren TD, his green A/C knocked it out with one shot! Durring these operations, he used several Jeeps to scout out my flanks. They were met by my overzelious (misspelled?) Panzerschrek teams that took shots from as far as 150 to 170m! My schrek teams faired better than my TD though. They took out several of the Jeeps and a few A/Cs that Ted had been careless with. All the while Ted walks arty rounds down on my pulverized village. Around turn 13 I think, I got my final TD caught in the open against another of his A/Cs. The match ended almost the same as the first one!  The same Greyhond also took out my only AT gun a few seconds before (50mm Pak). D'OH! I was frustraited and unsure what to do to throw Ted off-balance. With all my heavy equipment gone (2-Mararder IIs, 1-20mm Flak, and 1-50mm Pak) I decided to order a general retreat when a platoon of Shermans showed up as a reinforcement. My goal was to rob Ted of as many VPs as possable before surrendering. The retreat opened up many fields of fire for Ted's advancing steam roller, and I decided to just surrender outright at that moment. His units had more targets to fire at than they knew what to do with. It was as if 40 machine guns opened up all at once! The reuslts were slightly disappointing on my end. Ted scored a Tac victory with a score somewhere in the 70 range vs my 20 to 25. Looking at the battlefield showed me that I had enough units in my second line of defence to continue resisting. If my schrek teams had killed enough of those tanks (and I still had several hidden before the retreat) I may have forced a draw. Well, it was a fun battle none the less because I got to play against an online CM vet. I learned that the past couple of years playing the very good Tac AI does not make up for playing against a skilled opponent! Kudos Ted; it was a well deserved victory!
 5. Thank you C. Lipton. My family owes you and your commrades for the life we enjoy today. Have a quick and safe ride home. We'll all be seeing you soon. [ 01-05-2002: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 6. That's a great mod Andrew. Once again you show your excellent skill with beautifying CM! Great job. Can't wait for it! I think you should do the King Tiger next! The KT is in need of a kick ass super high res mod like that. So do the Chaffie and Pershing as well!
 7. Don't worry Ted. We'll fill this thread full of useless crap to keep it on the front page where it belongs!! Seen it again yet Ted? Huh? Have ya? I'm out of the mines of Moria now. The company is sleeping in the trees hiding from orcs.
 8. I had to order CM twice. Once durring it's original release (that took about 2 weeks to get to me due to backorder) and once a few months ago after my little daughter decided to see how many nifty little marks (deep gouges) she could put on the back of the disk. Of all my games, she had to pick the one I use 90% of the time! It took 3 days for that one to get to me.
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Lordfluffers: In CMBO, buildings that are damaged have a * or ** in the bottom corner denotating 50% and 75% damage.

Holy damaged buildings batman! I always wondered what those stars were for! And I have been playing CM since it's release!!! That's what I get for joining the forum so late in the game!!
 10. Do we know if CMBB is going to have a full battle playback feature yet? And don't attack me with a "Do a topic search" reply either!
 11. Thanks guys. I'll post the data to my brain for future use, but the point is moot in my above case. Ted's Greyhound (green) took out my Marader II (Veteren) in one shot after my TD took two lousey shots at him. D'OH!
 12. SuperTed vs Vader's Jester update: Ted has started to put the hurt on me. He continues to advance with total disreguard for the good health of my forces. My men keep asking his troops to stay on their side of the yard and play nice, but like Ted himself, they care little of what people ask of them. I still have a lot of suprises for him though.
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by dfgardner: Hawk established a well coordinated reverse slope defense, forcing me to go on the offensive (due to loss in initial game).

Smart move for your opponent. If I had established a good lead on Lord Dragon in the first battle, I would have forced him over to the offensive in Mighty Mouse as well. Attrition is usually worse for the attacker.
 14. Sweet. I wasn't sure. Funny, I've been playing the AI since '99, but just recently started playing people. It's like learning the game all over again at times.
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Amidst Void: The StuG's aren't bad tanks when used correctly, I prefer them over Panzer IVx's in many cases.

StuGs aren't tanks, they're assault guns. And yes, assault guns work very well in ambush positions against both enemy armor and infantry.
 16. I ran into a small snafu while slugging it out with another player in a PBEM battle. I have little armor assets in this fight. As a result, I have to make the most of what I have. One of my German tank destroyers targets a Greyhound scout car at about 150m, but the scout car is facing my TD head on. Although the TD will probably win the face off, I am worried that a good hit from that 40mm gun on it will knock out my very important TD. With me so far? I don't want to reverse, because this may distract the crew from their gunnery against the scout car, and thus reduce the chances of winning the duel. I decide to have the TD stand off with the Greyhound, but I don't want the TD to stay in the fight for longer than 30 seconds for fear of being 'bracketed' by the scout car. Here is the question: If I order a delay command with a reverse order, will the TD also delay it's gunnery against the scout car? Or will it only delay the backing up of the TD while it continues to fire? Does the delay command effect the crew's firing of their weapons as well as effecting it's movement?
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by Tanks a Lot: That was quick. Just downloaded it and it looks great. Thanks Andrew and Tom.

Ditto.
 18. That's a beaut Andrew. Frist Hetzer I've seen since the folage Hez that I've wanted on my HD. Great job. BTW, your Jeeps look excellent on my battlefields!
 19. The Lee tank is pretty pathetic looking IMHO. Archer is a bit odd in appearence.
 20. Without giving anything away, here is Ted and my current battlefield situation: He is advancing with armored cars and M8's towards an obivious strongpoint of mine (barb wire, road blocks, ect). Or is it a strong point? He has laid down support area fire with his two M8s and demolished a building in the small village I am holding. One of my units has been eliminated (I won't reveal what it is, as his men have probably not I.D.'d it yet). We are still very earily in the game. [ 12-23-2001: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 21. Okay. I guess. I'm spost ta see it tomorrow night myself. I'm sure it'll rock. I'm at work most of the day before that. I'm sure we'll exchange a file or two though. [ 12-22-2001: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 22. Boo hoo hoo. *sniff* Ted *choking on tears* has forgoten all about me fellow newbies. I guess *sniff sniff* that AAR on our battle is never to be. . . *sobbs out of control and crys like a baby* Where are you Ted! I know you're busy, but I figured we would exchange at leat one file before calling it quits! 23.
quote:
Originally posted by jshandorf: Ahhh.. but you are assuming that the Germans had less screw ups, but on the contrary, being a screw up is a universal thing. Jeff

Cute. I disagree though. I think for every, say, 10 people in a given profession, you'll have 6 that do what is required of them, 3 that could be called worthless, screw-up, whatever, and one that stands out above all the others as excellent. This is my opinion and a gross oversiplification of course, but there it is. [ 12-21-2001: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]
