I have this problem only in the game, not when I hear the sound with a media player.

Not with the one file I am using. Two of them had too much backgrond hiss, but the one I am using sounds good. I've played it on my desktop, but not in the game yet. No crack when it loops so far. BTW, this file is large to those interested in it. If you request it from me and are on a slow service like dial-up, you may want to download the attachment overnight.
 2. Yay! I finaly get to contribute to the CM commiunity!!! I have a replacement sound file for file 00005004. It is backgrond sounds. This replaces the BTS sound file that has the annoying high pitched whine among the birds and background shell fire (you know the one). It is a sound file from the Medal of Honor demo that has great semi-auto rifle pops along with machine gun chatter and explosions (just think of the background noises in Saving Private Ryan). I converted it from mp3 to WAV and zipped it for anyone interested. The file is 24 MB and replaces the BTS file of 20.3 MB. I have no web page, so just e-mail me if interested and I'll send it right back! DBURCH@bak.rr.com [I have to send it mp3. The WAV file is too big. If you need an mp3 decoder, go to warfare HQ (see posts below) [ 01-11-2002: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ] [ 01-11-2002: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Vader's Jester: I am having trouble decoding the file as it is an mp3. If I e-mail it out, is there anyone that thinks the can convert it to a WAV file for me?

Whoa! I decoded it, but it is a whopping 22MB sound file! I don't think many people are going to want me to e-mail it to them!!!
 4. I am having trouble decoding the file as it is an mp3. If I e-mail it out, is there anyone that thinks the can convert it to a WAV file for me?
 5. What WAV files are the backgrond sounds located in? I wanted to replace one of them with one of the ones from the Medal of Honor demo. All three that come with the demo are good, but only one has an acceptable amount of background hiss. The hiss on the others is way too noticeable. I wanted to replace the one CM background sound that has the high pitch feedback amongst the shell bursts. I can e-mail the sound file to anyone interested BTW. It sounds really good.
 6. Ted, What is up with two of our supernewbies? I noticed on vadr's tree that two of the players seem inactive. Are you going to place alternates in their slots, or just drop them and restructure the tourney tree? [ 01-11-2002: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 7.
quote:
Originally posted by SuperTed: Stay tuned for the surprise announcement I mentioned a few weeks back. Let's just say it has something to do with prizes.

Hey! Ted bought and is gonna' give away that TD on ebay to the supernewbie winner! Now I can take out all of that pent up road rage!!!
 8.
quote:
Originally posted by Iron Chef Sakai: Thanks for the link! I definetly remember the arty being a bit over done to say the least in PG. The M7's were so annoying. But at the same time remember the magical Pioneer infantry and Engineers that were so good, no army could dig in against their onslaught?

Word. *knodding head with grin on face*
 9. Chef, For good maps and scenarios, shop at the Scenario depot. Scenario Depot [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Iron Chef Sakai: PG was good for it's time, but the stats on alot of things were way off the mark wich annoyed me.

Remember the super destructo artillery? I swear you could not even hope to approach a victory location without first spotting the defending artillery and then bombing the hell out of it.
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Iron Chef Sakai: Stop taking me so seriously....or yourself so seriously.... Everytime so far that someone has taken me the wrong way...ie rude or hotile or what not, i've only been joking. I may not be British, but i can appreciate dry wit.

Then I am taking you the wrong way. Maybe your wit is too strong. [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 12.
quote:
Originally posted by Iron Chef Sakai: Did you get kicked by a kangaroo today or something? I just got the game a couple months ago, sheesh. If i knew how to make some decent mods, or came up with a scenario people might like, i'd put it out there for everyone.

Why are you always so hostile to others? I've seen about a dozen of your posts over the past couple of months, and they always have some smart @$$ remark in them. I saw how rude you became at the Easy Company obit. thread. What's up?
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by Iron Chef Sakai: I'd still be playing it, as i have yet to use the scenario editor.

You don't have to use the scenario editor to feel it's effect on you! But I'm pretty sure you would have got bored with QBs and the couple of dozen missions that came on the disk in short order. It's the hundreds of excellent user made missions that keep the game fresh. Sure, mods are great too, but it's new missions (historical or otherwise) that keep everyone playing. Just think of all the games you've had over the years that are gone because you got tired of playing the same old thing. I mean, you can only play Pole Position or Close Combat 2, or any other number of games so much before they get old. And sure, CM will die for all of us some day; but it's the ability to rejuvinate the game with new scenarios and operations that keeps CM going in the long run. That is why it is CM's best feature.
 14. The scenario editor!!! This game would have died LONG AGO if it were not for the extreamly flexable scenario editor! No matter how good CM was on it's release, without this feature, no one would be playing it today.
 15.
quote:

Yeah, you know, Bumb. This just gives me the excuse to BUMPthe thread again. Hurry up with round 1 SuperNewbies! I just upgraded from dial-up to cable today, and I'm ready for an tcp/ip match!
 16. This made it to the second page?! Ted is gonna kill us!!! BUMB BABY!!! [ 01-09-2002: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 17.
quote:
Originally posted by Ogadai: Vader's Jester, I think you're referring to the FG42

Yeah, that's the ticket!
 18.
quote:
Originally posted by Warmaker: Speaking of the MG42, you can't possibly forget the other major source of MG42s in your force selection: The infantry platoons. Normal Heer and Waffen-SS rifle squads often have 1 MG42 to supplement their firepower. Contrast this to the Panzergrenadiers (esp. Waffen-SS) and the FJ who often have TWO MG42s and you get a nice firepower boost.

Well that version of the MG42 is probably the rifle shaped version with the side magazine insert (can remember it's designation though) that was first used by FJ units in the attempt to rescue Italy's leader.
 19. The Hummel is SPA. It's primary role was to bring mobile artillery to the battlefield. It was used (but never intended I belive) in direct fire situations like how they are used in CM.
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Michael Dorosh: lafette tripod mount also had an optical sight

Was the sight used for AA duty as well? Or just for ground fire? [ 01-07-2002: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 21.
quote:
Originally posted by Stuka: You can run with the light MG too! But only walk with the heavy MG

I saw in a book with modern photos of a single gunner (dressed in historic garb for effect) firing an MG42 off of the hip with no assistance. Of course the book also stated that this was very difficult to perform, and there was almost no chance of keeping the rounds grouped together enough for this type of firing to be effective. Thanks for answering my question guys. I guessed it had to do with the bi-pod/tri-pod thing, as well as carring extra ammo. [ 01-07-2002: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 22. What is the diffrence between a heavy MG42 team and a light MG42 team? It is in essence the same MG of the same weight, ROF, ect. . . So why is one considered light and one heavy? I would understand if we were talking about a light MG38 team. That is a diffrent MG with diffrent weight and performance.
 23. Andrew, I just 'dicovered' your uniform mods over at Tom's. I've seen them there dozens of times but just didn't bother giving them a closer look. They rock. You are a Mod God! BTW Pawbroon, the eyes look cool. Who cares if that particular TD hardly gets used; I just might use one now and then just to see your pretty textures! [ 01-07-2002: Message edited by: Vader's Jester ]

 24. Almost time for round 2 ya'all! Who gets ta die by my hand next?
