  1. I was playing as the Mujahedeen against the Soviets in CM:A; a Shilka took three RPG hits from the side and kept on truckin' with no discernible damage, much to the shock and horror of my long-haired pixeltrippin truppin'.
  2. Very nicely done! Reminds me of the Jane's opening videos for their flight sims - Longbow, F-15, and so on.
  3. I stand corrected. Hey, the new units that are included sound great. Looking forward to it!
  4. Thanks Moon. I was under the impression that new Syrian infantry units would be in this module. I did not see anything in the manual regarding this, so I guess it was a faulty assumption, true?
  5. Just starting to look through the Manual and noticed that there is no Page 9, 14, 19, etc.... Duplicate Page 8's, etc....
  6. I wondered why the AK-47 was not included in CM:A and this article explains why. The actual AK-47 was short-lived, but the Kalashnikov family of weapons have lived on, as we see in CM:A and CM:SF. The article also ties the AK-47 back to WWII and German ingenuity. http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/military/weapons/ak-47-questions-about-most-important-gun-ever?click=pp
  7. CM:ESN (Combat Mission:Endless Summer Normandy) Go on a fun and frivolity filled Surf n Turf adventure with the 29th Inf. Division- Summer of 44'
  8. CM:A is mentioned briefly in this article, page 2: http://www.simhq.com/_land3/land_119a.html
  9. I was designing a winter scenario and realized that there is no winter foliage. Of course, one could use ALT-T to remove foliage, but it would really add to immersion if there was actual winter foliage. Also, I had some of the mujahedeen run through snow which did not seem to affect their fatigue level. I will have to do some actual tests to confirm this. After reading one of Normal Dudes AAR's prior to CM:A release, I asked him about this, and he said that they had just designed winter foliage. Will the winter foliage be released in a patch? Additionally, how about ice tiles to use in winter scenario's rather than the water tiles?
  10. A few things related to graphics - The mountain background would be terrific if it didn't contain obvious seams, making it look like a really lousy wallpaper job. This sort of thing is not worthy of the Battlefront name. Also, there is quite a contrast from the mountain wallpaper to the actual game map. A lot of tan flat space is visible between the map and background. This sort of thing did not seem as obvious in CM:SF. I guess it is a function of the mountain background. I noticed a Flintstone-mobile in one scenario. A couple of mujahedeen were sitting in one of their pickups with their bare feet visible below the vehicle. I know they were low on funds, but couldn't the CIA at least give them trucks with engines? When using water tiles in the editor, I have seen some funky elevations pop up. I have been using the editor for three years and am very familiar with how to design maps and use elevations. Also when using the editor, I have noticed some strange lighting effects, for one scenario that I am designing. The time of day is 6:00 am. The lighting seems to go from dawn to daylight in an instant and then back again. Non-graphics related - Two-man machine gun teams do not provide buddy-aid when one of them gets wounded. I don't remember seeing this in CM:SF.
  11. I am with you Stoex. I think you have some great suggestions. Along with it, I would add tool-tips for each weapon that shows what ammo it takes.
  12. As CMX2 evolves, weather effects will be implemented. So they have already coded the GUI for weather options in the latest build of the engine. It has previously been mentioned by Battlefront that the game following Normandy will have snow (Battle of the Bulge). Seems that if you have snow, they would include rain also. It was quite rainy during the summer of 44', so who knows, we may see rain earlier than the Bulge.
  13. Just an observation, but anyone that uses their military rank on a computer games forum is obviously a REMF and should be immediately fragged by their troops. One who is of this caliber and mentality is certainly a danger to himself/herself and anyone else near him/her in a combat zone....you know, just sayin'. Cpl Mike, so why is Iraq a dangerous part of the world? It didn't seem that dangerous when Don Rumsfeld was over in Baghdad shaking hands with Saadam in 1983. It wouldn't have anything to do with a bunch of foreigners invading, destroying, and occupying their country now would it? The premise of CM:SF was that Syria supported the use of radioactive weapons (dirty bombs) by various groups, and as a result was invaded by NATO. Isn't that why U.S. forces are in Iraq, to locate WMD's? How's that search going? It is my understanding that the only radioactive weapons that have been found are those owned by the U.S. and other Western nations in the form of depleted uranium weapons? Please correct me if I am wrong. I am confused, I thought blue forces are there to find WMD's and now you are telling me that you are there to improve their country? I must have missed the memo; when did they ask us to come over and help out?
  14. For me there are plenty of "bad guys" in CM:SF already...U.S. Forces and the British. I have really enjoyed playing Red vs. Blue. Look at the way Blue forces have behaved around the world over the last 200 years. A Blue force was the only one to have ever actually used nuclear weapons, and they were dropped on two very large civilian populations. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter, and as we all know, the masses are conditioned by propoganda regarding these two terms.
  15. You will see more bones when the powers that be, are damn well and ready to toss out some gruel to the masses, and not a minute before. CM:Normandy - website and forum Sept. 2010 CM:Normandy - Dec. 2010

  17. Basically, the Peng Thread consists of what one would find at the bottom of a grog barrel. Namely, it is full of scallywags, scoundrels, picaroons, knaves, thumb-suckers and bed-wetting chickenhawks. To put it in plain english - a whole nest of nefarious vermin. By all means...don't go there!
  18. ND, Thanks for another great AAR. Question - it is a winter scenario, however, the vegetation represented is that of a non-winter climate. Will winter vegetation or lack there of, be in the final product?
  19. Thank you for showing interest in my post, and congratualtions...starting to contemplate a subject is the first step in overcoming willful ignorance. I encourage you to continue down the path to knowledge. I also appreciate you sticking to the game subject and not attempting to engage in equivocation. If you get bored again, may I suggest dumpster diving with Mord? Now, where were we? Oh yeah, um, when is that Normandy game going to be released? How about some screenshots?
  20. No worries Michael, since we are pals you can call me a Kraut. I will be happy to challenge you to a Peng on the battlefields of CM:Normandy...sometime in the future. Wonder what the rest of the world and future generations will be, or are calling, those americans that followed the bush/cheney crime family down the road to destruction, war crimes and torture? Just sayin'.....
  21. The older you get, the sooner it gets
  22. I concur and endorse PFC Ryan's statement.
  23. Deutschland über alles , Michael. We don't take kindly to you gringos calling us Krauts.
  24. I would guess that Philip's "brain jar" will be placed next to Charles' for convenience sake. It will make it easier for Steve to keep them both supplied with nutrients (a.k.a imported German beer), and will also aid in collaboration.
  25. ND, thanks. I am well aware of how the casualty and ammo victory parameters work. My primary question as indicated in the first post of this thread is regarding the condition parameter. I have been playing the game since it was released and have read the manual many times, however, I am still not clear on its proper use. Steve, if you have a chance, I would appreciate your input on this, with a clear example of how to set condition parameters.
