Check out page 89 of the CMBB manual. It not only explains what "area fire" is, but also gives a good example of when/how to use it, along with the reasoning behind implementing it. Hope this helped.

Actually, you did get it. I just stole it from your mail box!

I agree!!!!!! I keep getting my a** kicked! It must be the game!

Guess I should have checked your reply better, huh, Shadow? That's the book to which I was referring to, in my previos post. -

There is a book about Russian ski units which I read a few years ago. I believe the author's name was Sharp, and the book was part of an overall series concerning the Russian Army in WWII. You may be able to locate it through "Amazon.com.",or the like. Hope this helps. -

New mod: concrete and wooden bunkers

Holy s***!!! Great work as usual! -
Reminiscent of the shot (no pun intended ) in "Saving Private Ryan", when the FT unit gets whacked as it exits it's landing craft, explodes, and then catches nearby men afire.

Now that I think about it, maybe we should have had "waffled casualties" in the game, too - i.e. the Afghani fellow who was slowly run over by the Soviet tank and ended up looking like part of Jeffrey Dahlmer's breakfast. Also, as far as great quotes from the film, another of my favorites was again from the tank commander, when it seemed the end was near (don't mess with those Afghani women!!! ), and their tank was out of fuel. "When out of gas, become a pillbox. When out of ammo, become a bunker. When out of time, become a hero!" What a great film!

I know there are some who were disappointed that the "tank hunting dogs" weren't included in CMBB, but I was really hoping for "Tank Boy" ("...during the battle for Stalingrad, they called me tank boy..." from the movie, "The Beast" - about a Soviet tank and its' crew during the invasion of Afghanistan). I could see it now, the kid with an explosive bundle, being lowered on a rope from an upper story building, then placing the package on some unsuspecting enemy tank! I want Tank Boy!
-
I find it's best to keep 'em down and hidden until the last second, but they sure can do the trick. I especially like the Soviet ones with molotovs. It's sooooo sweet to set up an ambush, watch 'em pitch the bottle at some unsuspecting tank, hear the sound of breaking glass, and then watch the fire begin. And extra-super-duper sweet if they take the bugger out!

I got it! I got it! And no, I'm not talking about the clap. Postal delivery had a Priority Mail envelope for me today - I knew it was either CMBB or my new blow-up doll. Well, it was CMBB, and I've just downloaded it (without any problem, I might add). Now, if my damned plastic girlfriend would get here, I'd be set for one hell of a week!
-
I also, haven't received my copy (Kansas City). However, don't forget that it gets shipped by the Postal Service, another of our well run, unbelievably efficient (*smirk*) government agencies. Need I say more?

Correct. Strange as it may sound, the ampulomet was a direct-fire anti-tank weapon. It was not intended for anti-personnel or area-denial fire. So it should work like an ATG, direct-fire only, instead of like other mortars.[/QB]

NEWS FLASH...... REPORTS OF CMBB ALL OVER THE US!!!
KEEF888 replied to gunnersman's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
That provides me with a bit of hope, being I live in Kansas City, Kansas, just a state above you. Have fun, you lucky mutha! -
 The pix that have been put up are unbelievable! The aesthetical beauty is heads and tails above CMBO (not that CMBO was bad, it's just that CMBB is a quantum leap ahead). But it just gets me thinking about how great it'll really get when the mods start flowing!

Holy cow! Sorry to hear about the high cost, but thanks for the info. I've been wanting to get out of the drug dealing/gun running/illeagal immigrant smuggling racket for awhile now, but couldn't find such a lucrative, money making opportunity. You've just given me the answer - I'll start running PC games to Canada!

 ParaBellum, Kekk, Wolfe, et al, thanks so much for the pix. I went ahead and just printed them, so now the porno pix on my walls are covered over by CMBB screen shots! In fact, I've got a Sturmtiger reloading in my pants right now! Ready....fire!!!!!!!!!!
