Weird, using the text link didn't work for me in GetRight (latest vers). *shrug* No big deal since I'm at work anyway. I'll just let my home computer chug away at it

Use the Retreat function instead of move

I havne't tried with getting units to follow a road, but I have tried to get tanks to back up 5-10 meters (I guess that number over near the minimap are meters to keep tab of the distances) to be better concealed but still able to fire at the enemy, so ofcorse I expect them to back up, but they kept turning around and exposing the rear to the enemy, this is one thing I think you should look into, theres nothing more frustrating that losing that tank, just becorse the driver are too lazy to put it in reverse gear. Otherwise it seems to work fairly well when you keep the moving orders to short distances. [/QB]</font>

Kryger, most games don't use more than one processor (which is what dual core is). The good news is that Core2 CPUs are faster than Pentium4s at the same clock speed by a LOT. A 1.86 Ghz C2D is plenty fast enough, don't worry
-
Heh, not all Core2's work with it. Mine sure doesn't! Still, it isn't a big deal. The Core2's faster per clock than a P4, so anyone with a Core2 is PLENTY fast enough.

I can't get ToW to execute

iplaygames, when you ran the config app did you try telling it to auto detect? Maybe there's some setting that's screwy in the config file that'll get over written by the detection routine? -
Demo will not boot in Vista

Hey UTex, try running the Theater of War Config app first. For some reason the demo didn't seem to load for me at first (WinXP here), but after I ran the config app the demo launched fine. -
For those with Dual/Quad Core Processors

Holy Crap! That isn't just "much better performance"! Without checking the "Use only one CPU" it's like trying to run it on a PII or something :-P Any reason why that isn't on by default? ('cause I was getting ready to ask some questions about performance) [ April 18, 2007, 04:30 AM: Message edited by: Cameroon ] -
Thanks, I chuckle every time I read it

Lets just say that there have been more than few last minute..."complications". We havent forgotten you guys and are working hard (and tirelessly...what's a bed?) to get everything ready as promised. It might not be AS early as I had envisioned but pre-order people will get the jump. Madmatt </font>

Yes, but now for us pre-order people???

Dear God, I think that blew out an eyeball. Lucky I got a spare...

I haven't met a thread yet that didn't need more cowbell.

Yeah, but it seems like it isn't tied to the forums ID and I couldn't find anything to create an id for the MP Lobby. How about you crazyman?

Lurking for a while, but had to throw in my .02

And that's the right tactic Steve BFC always encourages people to check out the demos first, if that means that you wait a few days after it's available to purchase... well, what's the problem? It's not a limited commodity that you either buy immediately or you'll never have an opportunity to get Personally I don't think BFC has enough staff to handle supporting the demo before release on top of the other publishing duties that they have (testing, marketing, etc.) -
Well, the story line (what we've heard of it) is that radicals take over the Syrian government. I'm not sure that I'd be throwing around the term Terrorist as the reviewers, but maybe it's a bit of a slip.
-
And somehow 1-2 days early isn't before? I keep missing how that logic works. It must be the same logic that turned "a few days" into "a couple weeks".
-
I was going to post something full of logical arguments and mildly scathing...then I realized that it'd be pointless because some people want their game, want it now, and damn the logic!
-
...because receiving it 24 hours later and paying approximately 22% more money is a much better deal? Good call. </font>

Wow, heavy JPG compression ahoy! The terrain deformation in the first shot was interesting - was that dynamic or part of the map setup? I didn't know that placing disabled vehicles was in (I know it was requested), so that was a nice tidbit

Patience is a virtue.... so is assertiveness. Give me the download now! Pity us poor souls and make the d/l available today.

On the flip side, at least they aren't hiding it Maybe it's just because it's the beta and alpha shots? In any case, I did find a post about ATI and shadows. Scroll to the bottom of Steve's post. Now, in those screenshots the shadow edges are jagged triangles. Maybe the shadows we've seen in the video are a sort of work around? -

I am not trying to put words in anyone's mouth, but I could have sworn they said that was an ATI issue (shades of the ATI fog issue loom....). For a while I thought it was a style choice
