Want a batch file to switch between seasonal grass?
rleete replied to Maximus's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Grass and tree mods are for people with no imagination. -
It would look nice, but I'd rather they (BTS) concentrated on things other than the "gee-wiz" special effects that don't add anything but eye candy. If the whole thing was CGA, but had great gameplay, I'd still buy it. Graphics are nice, but really don't add much. One thing that other game companies seem to forget. This isn't very realistic. If a team firing a HMG, and one of the ammo carriers gets hit, does that mean the mg fire isn't as effective? Or that the bullets lose some of their velocity? No, It just means that they may become shaken or pinned. As it is it seem that HMG teams don't have enough supression of enemy infantry as expected. Damn, ya beat me to it. Exactly what I was trying to say. Edited because I type too slow. [ 06-02-2001: Message edited by: R_Leet ]

Use the Computer experience bonus set to +3. That helps make things a bit tougher. Try giving the computer ever larger point bonuses as well. You'll reach a point where there are just so many more of the enemy, that it makes up for some of the dense moves the AI makes.

Can't be done.

In a current PBEM, I had a 75mm HT take out a Cromwell with a front turret penetration. He was not too happy about that one.

Aberdeen Proving Ground Museum in MD
rleete replied to ElGuapo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
From the look of the mount, it's a coast gun. Doh! I looked in the Museum collection ToC, and it's the first one listed. Good guess, huh? -
You got to see this!!! It's @#$% Hilarious!!!
rleete replied to Panzer_Meyer's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
According to the data, it is a very powerful cartridge, with a hell of a kick. But I also agree with the statement made that it isn't the size of the bullet, but proper placement. I have a 7mm magnum, and while not nearly in the same class (recoil wise), it does command respect. I have seen people do the same acrobatics with my rifle as shown in the movies. Proper technique eliminates this (mostly). These shooters appear to be amateurs playing. Dropping the weapon is inexcusable. -

Not so funny as pitiful. Morons who don't know how to handle a firearm. I hope I never see any of these guys on the range. -

Well, it seems my overly wordy missive has gone and gotten misinterpreted. Drunken ramblings, etc. So, without further ado: Mace! You simple minded poster boy for euthanasia. You are the reason for sheep dip. Drop your ewe, wool wanker. In the words of Yosemite Sam, "I'm a callin' you out, varmit." Are you kniggit enough to handle that? -

Mace, you are one of the ones I was replying to. Ah, well. [shakes head and turns away] Ignorance really is bliss, I suppose. -

Ah, Yes. Joe Schmegma. Another one of those "My number is lower than yours" egotists. I shall endevor to enlighten you: 1. I am a CM player. Recently regestered, as you so graciously pointed out. Owner of 'The One True Game' for over a year. Lurker of the God given thread for even longer. 2. Yes, it is true. I never thought of signing up, until I had read all the past threads. Newbie I may be, but foolish I am not. As you might have guessed (I am assuming basic animal intelligence here), this took a while. Between Real Life and playing The Game, it has taken until quite recently. 3. That you should care, I give not a whit. Go bugger yourself, if it pleases you. if not, I am sure Bauhaus would be happy to oblige. 4. Frying would hinder my continued education in and of The Game. I have recently graduated to TCP/IP (once again, refer to #3), and as such, am intentionally invading the 'pool in search of higher learning. As to the last question, I am simply responding to the dubious intellegence of several of the cess posters, based on some of their previous posts. I hope this clears up any confusion you may have had. If I need to repeat myself using smaller words so you may understand, please feel free to reply. -
The great Peng ocassionally pops in. He apparently has generally moved on to other things. I, for one, have been a lurker here for a long time, and it was this very thread that got me interested in CM. This thread is not intended to be understood by casual CM players. However, many of us consider it quite amusing. It is also a place to keep most of the off topic and off color humor from invading the general forums, where it could be misconstrued. As BTS has stated, it is their forum, do manage as they see fit. If CM is any indication, they DO know what they are doing.

Wow! The legend himself. I have played a couple of your scenarios, but never seen you post (unless I'm doing a search). You do really nice stuff. I look forward to seeing what comes next. -

How pleased we are to see that Mace has learned to count to three. Good boy, you may have a cookie. Keep up the good work, and someday you might be honored enough to be asked to join the special olympics. But the mental image of you popping out of a cake is simply too much to bear. Even for the likes of P_Phan, it is horrendously revolting. Please refrain from such disgusting imagery, as the 'pool has no need for the contents of it's readers stomachs to be ejected forthwith. -

Glad I'm not the only one still drawing armor like I did (way back) in school. However, I don't have the scanned images to start with. Paper and pencil for me. Kind of like making mods in 2D. Nice drawing. Peng would like the "imminent crushed smiley" effect, too! And russellmz, I was just making an observation. Not trying to rag on him at all. -

The best place to ask this question would be in the "Peng challenge" thread. They are sure to give plenty of good answers! [ 05-04-2001: Message edited by: R_Leet ]

Mace and his "girly scream" has caused more animosity than anything else recently. Stupid wanker error, or brilliant, cunning tactic? You decide. I personally don't think he has the necessary neural capacity for cunning. Mace, erase! -
Mensch, that is an evil trick. I love it. You just know there's gonna be a post on making that work! (BTS fix or do somfink) [ 05-02-2001: Message edited 'cause I screwed up] [ 05-02-2001: Message edited by: R_Leet ]

What ever tailz bids, I'll go a buck higher. Does it at least have a full tank of gas? Throw in an oil change, and it's a deal. -
Have to agree with you, there, PeterNZer. It's all getting rather too tame.

quote:
Trust me, it was pity. I lost to OGSF and the pool was in upheaval.

Sir Phan please accept my abject, groveling pardons. I had forgotten that you were elevated (lowered?) to holy kniggit status. The name change threw me. Really, brain farts (et.al.) are not unheard of in the great murky pool. But this: hehe Illinoize smells like dirty feet hehe has left me puzzled. Surely paton_returns must have approriated your login and posted under the guise of being you? For shame. -
