2.
quote:
Originally posted by phil stanbridge: We need to see some very hi-res Brit tanks, along the lines of Gordon, Fernando etc etc. Would be perfect.

Feldgrau will release his very hi-res CMMOS compatible Churchill shortly. See this thread. Big Ugly Tank Mod He's already started on the Cromwell, Challenger, and Comet.
 3.
quote:
Originally posted by Fairbairn-Sykes Trench Knife: May I direct your attention to Gordon's statements concerning the Archer... We need to petition him for a "full monty" Archer mod. This Panzer killer has gone unmodded for too long, compatriots!

You misread. Gordon says that he has a "Full Monty" set of Feldgrau's JEEPS. Including US/FF/UK/CA/PO and even including Military Police versions. These should be released shortly. He has enhanced all of them very well. However he did leave the basic textures there. When CMMOS v2.02 is released it will include the Jeeps I think.
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by sturmtiger101: Tiger S - US/FF M-4 & UK/CA/POL M-4 Desert Fox - Tiger I Paul McMahon - JgPzIV and L/70 & Hetzer Gordon Molek - Tiger II & Daimler a/c Marco Bergman - JagdPanther & M-8/M-20 a/c.

Umm, the US/FF, UK/CA/PO Sherman's are Marco Bergman's. You also might want to get Marco's Stuarts and variants (M8 HMC, Stuart Roo, T8 Recon Car) as well. Also Gordon's Priest and Felgrau's Sexton.
 5. The vision slit looks a little too blurry. I mean the edges shouldn't have soft edges, I don't think. Also the grass along the bottom needs to be a little higher. You might want to put add some vines and stuff kinda like you have in that building in that top screenshot.
 6.
quote:
Originally posted by Deadly Dave: Tanks and infantry can be 3d quite effectively. why not houses? or even an extra 3d base plate mod that you can attach to a box (house) Just wondering

All 3D models are hard-coded and compiled into the executable. Thereby making them untouchable. This was done to maintain accuracy. We can't have laser hover tanks floating around on the WWII battlefield now can we? However all textures can be modded except for a few exceptions. A 3D illusion can be achieved with the strategic placement of shadows on the textures. There's several mods that use this method.
 7.
quote:
Originally posted by Mud: Speaking of replays, was it ever mentioned why solo-play replays aren't repeatable (i.e. save, hit 'GO', reload, hit 'GO' yields different results)? Seems to me that if they saved the state of whatever random number generator -- for a simple arithmetic PRNG, this normally wouldn't be many bytes -- then one could save before each 'GO' and at least watch turns unfold identically in whatever order is desired while, say, writing up an AAR or otherwise doing a post-mortem. Unless, of course, it's deliberate -- to, say, permit reload-'GO' just as a check to see whether you got rather lucky / unlucky. Hmmm.

Sounds like we've got a cheater here boys. The reason why this is not possible is because it would lend itself to cheating. The very nature of PBEM format in turn sending is done in such a particular way that there can't be any cheating, because if it wasn't it would be very easy for a player to keep replaying a turn to get the results he wanted.
 8.
quote:

...misunderstanding of Cubbies in that he didn't bother reading page 4 of the FAQ to find out that the FAQ had somehow turned into a warped story about Star Trek and somebody by the name of Hiram something. But without further adue, Cubbies continued on with the story about Mace the ugly Vulcan whom....
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Doug Williams: Ok, guys, I now have them all except the Priest mod GEM_Priest_hr.zip. Could someone be so kind as to point me to a link for that one or perhaps e-mail it to me? -Doug

I have emailed Gordon about this and he says that he apparently forgot to get that one to Madmatt.
 10.
quote:
Originally posted by Doug Williams: Thanks a bunch, Pascal. The Sexton I am looking for is the CMMOS/batch file version. It's not a problem if I don't find it, however, as I can just download the one on Combatmissions and edit the file names... -Doug

Yeah, all you have to do is to add the "_uk", "_ca", "_po", and "_sa" extensions and you've made it batch/CMMOS compatible.
 11.
quote:
Originally posted by Pud: A great new mod for Churchills AND Challengers!! Is it christmas! I only play brits and normally only take Churchills and Challengers. So please dont waste this by sending it to the recycle bin.

He's kidding. Can't you tell? This isn't Tiger you're talking about.
 12.
quote:
Originally posted by Doug Williams: Ok, did some more looking and downloading and, in addition to the above mentioned file, I also cannot find the following CMMOS compliant files:

US_&_FF_Trucks_V2.zip Trust me, the filename may not match, but this is it. Cmnwlth_Trucks_V2.zip Same as above. Just don't use the batch files. GEM_Priest_hr.zip Hmmmm, that one should be at CMHQ under Allied Support, but Madmatt only has the Plainpack up. ram_kangaroo2.zip I don't think this one exists. Ram_Kangaroo_DF_GM_hr.zip (found this one on Desert Fox's web site, but link doesn't work)
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by SuperTed: CP...my biggest phan...

Well all I'm really saying is "How come you can't come up will a long and wild title like Madmatt does when he updates CMHQ?" I mean, "Another CMHQ update!" is so vague, and most of the time it's just some mention of what's going on at other sites. Almost exciting as those old titles like "Another new member at Forward Observer!" So I'm begging you, I'd like to see some creativity in thread titles, that's all.
 14. Well judging from the anti-armor combat that has been shown in Band of Brothers, there's usually some sort of visual reference such as debris from the target tank that 'spodes into the air. So until the CM can model impact special effects as these, then we'll probably just have to live with the current state of things.
 15. The batch file version should be there as well. Just keep looking. I think it's a small little hotlink on the same page as the Mod Manager version.
 16. Another redundant thread title! Sorry couldn't help myself.
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by russellmz: ...tar outta hiram's...

...ghost, so much that...
 18. Hmmm guys, All those BMP numbers are in my German_Vehicles.txt file. In fact, they are the very first ones listed.
 19.
quote:
Originally posted by Captain Wacky: I'm not looking at the penetration tables right now, but I'm guessing the .50cal can take out a thin-skinned td.

I made a PzIVJ abandon after shooting it in the ass with the .50 on a Easy Eight. I couldn't believe it. I had to watch it again. I was like "What the devil took it out?" I watched it again and a burst of MG fire from the Sherman took it out.
 20.
quote:
Originally posted by Suicides-by-Steve: I enjoy the easy of exchanging textures with the batch files.

Are you aware that the new program called CMMOS is the replacement for the batch files? It does everything and even more that what the batch files did.
 21. What do you mean, "bottom of entry"? If you simply mean inserting an image to your post then its rather simple, but involved. To insert an image, you have to have the image uploaded to the net somewhere. There's several free photo hosting sites on the net. Or have your own website. Then to actually insert the image, use the UBB image code tags () or click the Instant UBB Code button below the post text box that says Image. Then you must provide the full URL to the image.
 22. Still sounds like to me that you're running the game through your CD. Make sure that your shortcut points to the executable on the harddrive and not the CD. Also if you are not seeing downloaded scenarios, that means that it's pulling the scenarios directly off of the CD. Are you using any mods? If you have installed them, but can't see them in-game, then you're definately running off of the CD.
 23. For grass, I use Gunnergoz's Hi-Res Dark Field Grass. Best looking grass yet, IMHO. Tree bases. I use Juju's woods base. Magua's scattered tree base for his Normandy set. Trees, Mixture of DD's and Magua's trees. Buildings Tanks a Lot's buildings. Wheat, Magua's Water, Magua's Marsh, Tanks a Lot's Vehicles, Shermans: Marco's, PzIVs/Panthers: Fernando's, Stuarts: Marco's, Greyhounds: Marco's, German halftracks: Fernando's, Allied Halftarcks: Magua's/Gordon Molek's, Churchills: Feldgrua's, Sextons: Feldgrua's
 24.
quote:
Originally posted by Fieldmarshall: Anyway I am sick of the way we treat the newbies round here (we all were once) Second Item : Dont ask dumb questions. It makes people mad, what I mean by dumb questions, are ones that can be answered by looking in the manual.

Hmmm, unless my diplomatic skills are a bit rusty, I'd say that you pretty much contradicted yourself there. First you say that you don't like the way newbies are treated and then you tell them to not ask dumb questions because most answers can be found in the manual. Gee, I'm glad we're not sending you to Kabal to negotiate with Taliban.
 25. Actually Magua made a great rubble mod in his Normandy pack. That's the one I've been using ever since.
