  1. I can't get on Tom's site. I get a 404 error.
  2. Basically look at the difference like this. Light buildings are most likely made out of wood frames and wooden and/or plaster walls. Heavy buildings are basically made of stone or concrete.
  3. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by Soddball: "Gunpowder, Treason and Plot." So, why is November 5th commemorated in the UK? The first non-UK citizen who can tell me the right reason, and provide an informative hyperlink to educate the unwashed masses, will win the coveted and roundly worshipped Soddball Smug Bugger of the Week award.<hr></blockquote> No offense, but what makes you think we care?
  4. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by Tom: ( together with an alternative brown leather upholstery for Andrew Fox´s Kuebelwagen ). <hr></blockquote> Good. I've been waiting for that one. Can't stand the bright white seats. Doesn't go with anything else in the game.
  5. Well actually CombatGeneral sounds like he's playing CM as an RTS. The part about his infantry running right through enemy troops sounds abit like he's not carefully advancing like any good CombatGeneral would do. The thing about his Sherman, what is he doing plotting the Hunt Command beyond the hill crest? Well, at least that's how I interpret the action. Because the Sherman, if he had been at the end of his Hunt Order would probably indeed Reverse away. Actually his mistake was not purchasing a Firefly V.
  6. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by bfamily33: Version 1.1 <hr></blockquote> I like this version the best.
  7. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by russellmz: "...being excoriated with..."<hr></blockquote> ...evil thoughts from Osama bin Laden and his camel jockeys. Besides, OBL and his strange love for caves clearly explains why Mace loves sheep, and that's....
  8. Pres. Bush Sr.: "Not gonna do it...wouldn't be prudent." Rodimzew, CMBO has been *finalized* since Feb. 2001. No new anything will be added to it. CMBB will be out within a few months. BTS had hoped earleir on that they could up-date CMBO with some enhancements from CMBB, but they have found that will be impossible. Sorry. No dice here.
  9. Well, nothing like selling mods from a year ago as something new.
  10. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by Forge: I'm one of the people that have been watching Combat Mission from afar and think I'm ready to jump in when "???? to Berlin" is available. I've noticed many threads complaining about system performance. What does it take to run the game *well*? I have a P3-800, 256mb of RAM, GeForce2 GTS. Is that going to get it? For the life of me, I can't imagine why a turn-based game would need lots of horsepower.<hr></blockquote> Your system is fine. Being a turn-based game has nothing to do with it. CM is a 3D game that pushes more polygons than about any other game out there. Plus each object has many texture files. Not just one 256x256 file that holds every texture of the object. Most hi-res files are about 512x256 and that's just one side of a object. So a good video card with lots of VRAM is a must. Your Geforce 2 GTS is plenty. That's why I have. You should be able to run all hi-res mods.
  11. Here's a little Monkeybutt-ing around I did with Andrew's standard Heer and SS uniforms. First a black Gestapo-esk looking SS uniform complete with red Nazi armband. And now a slight redo of of Maximus's feldgrau repaint of Andrew's Heer uniform. This one I did to try to match a screenshot of the new FPS "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" game. I had to green up the tunic a little bit and then painted the pants grey.
  12. Some notes: Tunic looks a bit too washed out to me. If you have some real live pics for reference then I might change my mind. [ 10-31-2001: Message edited by: Cubbies Phan ]</p>
  13. I agree man, that church is real cool. I like that stone look a lot better. Did you revamp the regular church as well?
  14. <blockquote>quote:</font><hr>Originally posted by l3w53r: That'd be nice=)<hr></blockquote> Ah oh, boys, we have a l337 5p34k3r here. And so what does l3w53r stand for?
  15. Well the large texture sizes really have nothing to do with screen displays as you put it where you have to fill the screen to notice pixelization. Texture enlargements are done to allow bigger textures upon which to draw the detail in better. It's easier to draw on a 512x256 texture than it is a 128x64 texture per say. Now as you say when reducing the size of a texture that has transparent pink in it, distorts the pink around the edges. However, as I have experimented with is when you drop the size of a texture, it does lose clarity. it other words, it becomes a little blurry. And I believe this bluriness causes the shift in pink pixels. If you have Felgrau's Churchill mod, you will notice that his textures are extremely oversized, sometimes 3 or 4x the size of the original texture. He did that so he could get the level of detail he wanted.
  16. In the form of a bump, these two uniforms look good with the small wire helmets as well.
  17. Have you guys seen the screenshots from "Return to Castle Wolfenstein"? Well, I've done some repaints of Andrew's basic Heer and SS uniforms to match some of those uniforms. Here's a black (Gestapo) version of the SS uniform. And here's a green feldgrau jacket with gray pants that matched a screenshot I found. As I said before with my SPR and BoB repaints, I'm sending these to Maximus to add to his CMMOS sets. [ 10-31-2001: Message edited by: Cubbies Phan ]</p>
  18. Oh you guys are nuthin'. I had an Odessey 2. It had a full keyboard on the main console. I think it had about 4-bit graphics. Maybe even 2-bit. It had several cool games. It had it's own versions of classic '80s arcade games, like U.F.O. was their version of Asteroids, Pick Axe Pete was their version of Donkey Kong. Munchkin was their version of Pac-Man. I remember getting up real early and going in and turning on our old 23" console TV, the one that took 5 minutes to warm up. Flip the gaming switch and firing up UFO at 6:30 in the morning. Bad problem with the controllers though. They were hard wired into the machine on both ends. Sometimes the wires would get damaged or the spring inside the joystick would break allowing the joystick base to rub the case of the controller making for harsh movements. Tried getting around the problem by using graphite powder, but that just masked the problem.
  19. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Scipio: Who is talking about five years? I hope CMBB will be already out in less then 5 month! <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> He means when BTS returns to the Western Front using the CMII engine. THAT is about 5 years away once CM3 and CM4 are done.
  20. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Peter Panzer: ...gee folks, ya'll reckon this guy knows how to convincingly render concrete? slick, tanksalot. ...would you consider applying your skills toward the paved road .bmp's? seeing as both you and juju have heightened the quality of the pavement, as well as the heavy, stone structures, the current road textures have a rather limp-wristed air...<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Did you ever grab Pud's roads. They are very nice. Find them here.
  21. Gyrene, you need a new grass my man. Go grab Gunnergoz's Field Grass at Der Kessel.
  22. Well the ballast looks good. But the ties need some work. I'd suggest a fairly dark, but not too dark, wood grain look. Like something from Pud's wooden bunker.
  23. Good. But probably a bit too heavy on the whitewhash. Which mod did you use for a base? Kwazydog's?
