  1. rune, I don't mind hoisting a pint as long as I can drink it, too. *drool* Mmmmm, porter *drool* If you don't mind, go ahead and email those two scenarios to me and we'll try to give them a whirl.
  2. enigma2003, It's up to you to petition your peers to review your scenarios. I have seen scenarios reviewed in as little as a day, and yet there are some scenarios that have yet to be reviewed. I personally do not review scenarios (I think there was 1 exception waaay back).
  3. I'm there. My picture's in my profile. Black leather jacket and Luftwaffe feldmutze.
  4. Details posted, file uploaded and linked. Enjoy!
  5. enigma2003, In addition, when submitting the scenario details via email, use the appropriate Scenario Submission form or Scenario Synopsis page as a template by which you fill out the data. In other words, take a look at the pages where you download or submit the scenarios, and use the various fields as the template by which you submit your information. It will make your initial submission more accurate, although through the use of the Authors Only pages, you will be able to alter various aspects of your submission.
  6. enigma2003, No, you didn't screw up, as your situation falls under category #3. At some point during next weekend, I'll load the scenario and research the details. The only differences between the various above categories is the speed by which your file gets posted. If you emailed the details to me, it is definitely possible to have the file posted by sometime tonight.
  7. Enigma, The scenario posting policy for The Scenario Depot is as follows: 1) If the author enters all of the scenario details into the database using the proper submission form, I usually post the scenario file within a day or two...usually the next day when I get to work. 2) If the author sends the scenario details in an email along with the scenario file, then I usually get both posted within a day or two. 3) If the author does not enter the scenario details, but instead simply emails me the scenario and makes me research the details, then I usually post it sometime during the following weekend. Submitting the scenario details is as easy as filling out the appropriate form. Under each heading on the menu at The Scenario Depot, you'll see Index, Search, and Submit. Click on Submit for the appropriate theater (CMBO or CMBB). A form will be displayed. Enter all of the applicable data. Note that there are several fields which are mandatory. Click submit. Your scenario data is then posted to the database. Each morning I examine the database for new entries, and if I have a scenario file in my Inbox, I post it for everyone's downloading pleasure.

  11. What about wind direction and velocity? Off board artillery is affected by even moderate winds. Whenever I have spotters, I always check the wind speed and direction, and plot the fall of the artillery appropriately. Comes a lot closer that attempting to land it directly on the desired target. Size of artillery round doesn't seem to matter...at least not that I can see.
  12. Actually, what I'm intending to do is put a new field in the database called "spoiler". The reviewer can place their spoiler information in this field during the review process. There will be a small link or graphic next to each review which, when clicked, will then display the spoiler. This Scenario Depot feature should be available in the next couple of weeks.
  13. Scott, Upload or Post? Some of the fields in the database have a specific limit to the number of character an author can enter (for example, Version is 5 characters only, and some people try to post "CMBB Ver 1.0"), which the system definitely would prevent that from posting (clicking the Submit button and having nothing happen). I could put numbers to the right side of each field indicating maximum input length.
  14. My pleasure. Of course, beer is always an acceptable form of remuneration. Anything from Stone brewery (San Marcos, CA). I'm really fond of geueze's, too.
  15. Michael (and All), Nearly every drop-down box on the Battle and Operation submission forms have a FOW entry at the bottom of the list. If you do not want players to know what these values are prior to playing the scenario, then select FOW in the appropriate fields. In addition, once I have the bugs worked out of the Authors Only pages, you'll be able to change the scenario details as needed, including adding the FOW. In the meantime, if you like, I can make those changes for you. [ January 25, 2003, 01:00 PM: Message edited by: Admiral Keth ]
  16. Technically this is possible, as long as the reviewer maintained the same Reviewer Name/Email Address throughout the system. This seems difficult to enforce, and I especially want to avoid having people log in to submit reviews, as that would stymie most people's urge to review. I could create a graphical link next to each reviewer's name which, when clicked, would search the battles/operations review database and display the results list in a popup window. I'll add this to the Giant List O' Things To Do.
  17. The Scenario Depot uses PHP/MySQL/Javascript. A CF-based version might be in the offing, but that's going to be at least a year or two away.
  18. It would be an interesting study if as many people chimed in here as to their downloading habits and reasons. As a player, do you: 1) Download 1 battle/operation at a time, then play it, then download another. 2) Download several battles/operations, play a few, then download more. 3) Download every battle/operation, play them, and keep an eye out for new battles/operations and download them as they appear. 4) Other - Explain. I have no ulterior motive behind this question other than to observe everyone's reasoning and analyze the variance in download counts.
  19. Not a bad idea, and even doable once I get another field built out in the database this weekend. It might need to be it's own seperate page on The Lists (Battles/Operations/Maps/Authors) so that the calcs don't bog down or immobilize the system.

  21. Yep, I've got it 2/3rds complete (was working on it this morning). I just have to make sure all of the CMBB Battle and Operation fields are on the new forms. The new Authors Only section will no longer be email address dependent, so if you change your email address, you can still get to your scenarios. I have 1 minor detail to work out with regards to new scenario submissions, but that's just a procedural thing (1 more field for the authors to fill in). I was going to be working on my 15 gallon all-grain homebrewing system this weekend, but I'll dedicate that time to putting all of this back online.
